Calling All Delegate Alternates!

With Sen. Santorum suspending his presidential campaign, there will be many delegate spots opening up at the upcoming county, district, and state conventions as his precinct delegates lose interest in the process. This means that alternate delegates just became a lot more important. If you are a county, district, or state convention alternate, make every effort to attend. If you are a Paul delegate leader/coordinator, do your best to get your alternates to the convention.

If we do not fill open spots with our alternates (spots we are entitled to, if our people were elected at the previous level), the establishment will seek to fill the delegate slots with party hacks (AKA Romney supporters) instead. Don't let Romney eat our lunch!

I will be posting regularly to reflect upcoming conventions.

May 02 Update: Now that Newt Gingrich has also suspended his campaign, there will likely be many more delegate slots opening up for Paul alternates, particularly at upcoming conventions in the South. Liberty alternates, fill those open spots in Dixie!

The pieces are coming together.

Santorum pulls out of race, Newt is bankrupt and Romney is bound to stumble. Dr. Ron Paul is in position to pass them all these next couple months.

We want our country back

Every year is a year for Ron Paul!

Woo Hoo!

I was elected as alternate #23 at my county caucus, and my roommate was alternate #2. We will be attending the CD convention a week from Saturday, and I am hoping that the santorum folks no show so that I have a chance at getting seated along with my roommate.

In our county caucus, 10/36 delegates went to Dr. Paul as well as the majority of the alternates. Our county had been leaning heavily towards Santorum, and I am guessing most of the non-Paul alternates followed that trend. I just hope that the Santorum supporters don't show up to vote for Romney!

Please let us know:

Were you able to be seated as a delegate? Thank you for your dedication!

Unfortunately no.

If only 1 more person left, I would have been seated. I stayed through the election of alternates though, and helped count the votes for the delegate election. We ended up sweeping the district, with all 3 delegates and alternates going to Dr. Paul!!

Thank you...

... for your perseverance and dedication to the cause of Liberty!

P.S.: How many Paul alternates were seated at your caucus?

A Constitutional, Christian conservative who voted for Ron and stands with Rand

I was alternate#23 out of 71 alternates

When the caucus started, there were 9 open delegate seats for our BPOU. Of those, we seated 9 Ron Paul supporters right away. During our BPOU convention, we only took 10/36 delegate spots, so at the beginning of the CD2 convention, our BPOU went from 10/36 to 19/36 for Ron Paul. I had 6-7 alternates waiting ahead of me when the CD convention started, and when the national delegates were elected, I think there were only 2 alternates left ahead of me, so 4-5 delegates left before the national delegate vote. Just before the national alternate election, I was told that I was next in line to be seated...

Moral of the story: If you are an alternate, MAKE SURE TO SHOW UP, no matter how unlikely you think your chances are of being seated. Almost a third of our delegates didn't show up, and MANY more alternates didn't show up. Even though I didn't get seated, I was able to participate by counting ballots, and learned a bit more about the process at the same time. Can't wait for the State convention in May!!!

Yes its very important to show up... I can attest to this

I am heading to the Congressional District convention this weekend. However, the BPOU round prior to this we had 5 delegates alloted for our Precinct. Out of the 5 people only 2 show up and they are me and another RP supporter. My wife was elected and alternate and was seated and it was because of her vote we took 22 out of the 25 Delegate Spots.

Please show up folks as your vote can make a difference even if your an alternate you have a chance to be seated because of Santorums drop out.

By attending these conventions you are changing the make up of the Republican Party.

Yes, Minnesota District Conventions start this weekend also

I will add that to my topic update. And thank you for your dedication!
