Who's an Ex- Obama, Romney, Santorum, Gingrich, Huntsman, Perry, Bachmann, Cain, Pawlenty, Johnson, etc. Supporter?

Many of you have been active (or inactive) Paul supporters for a long, long time. Others, like me, are fairly recent converts. If you used to support someone else, please indicate (you don't have to say who) and let us know how exactly you came to your senses. Maybe if we get enough feedback, we can devise a better way to reach out to the anti-Romney crowd (and possibly the Romney crowd).

Myself, I guess I'm considered a Blue Republican. I supported Obama in 2008. My bad. I started to take a look at Ron Paul exactly because the media bad mouthed him so much. They kept calling him a crank, kooky, crazy, etc. I remembered seeing random Ron Paul signs over freeway overpasses. I YouTube-ed him...never looked back. I also watched a lot of videos by free-market thinkers who go a little deeper into certain of his platforms (e.g., Milton Freedman).

How about you?

I never

Believed in any politician until Dr. Paul.

Voted for Obama in 2008

Voted for Obama in 2008 (although had looked at Ron Paul in 2008 & liked him, but media overhyped Hillary Clinton-Obama duel & didn't want to register GOP). Kind of hung onto fake left-right divide till as late as 12 months ago, but got completely disillusioned with Ben Bernanke circus & figured out the scam that was going on.

Immoral funding of Military Industrial Complex by Federal Reserve and US taxation system must stop!!!! End illegal/unconstitutional wars! Preserve US currency!

Thank you Ron Paul, for awakening us from our slumber!

Isn't it interesting to look at where we are all now, and remember what clueless, babbling, idiots we used to be!

A lot of us made the transition mindless neocon drones, and Obama zombies, to full fledged libertarians!

Look how far we have come, all thanks to applying common sense and logic to politics for the first time in our lives.

40 years backing GOP

Obamacare scared me into buying silver because I was thinking the dollar was going to collapse. After hunting online for silver info I just kept running into to this fruit cake Paul. When I started to realize I believed the same as he on a lot of issues, I started to dig into Iran because Paul was wrong on Iran, so I thought. After really looking for answers I realized I was duped by the media. I firmly believed in the Iraq, and Afghanistan wars, truly Bush brainwashed. I did listen to Fox quite a bit, especially Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reilly. I haven't listened to either one since and now when I listen to any media news I wander what propaganda an I going to get now.

In a way Ron Paul has already given me my Liberty that the media and big government stole. Because now I have the knowledge that the media has withheld from me. Now I am trying to free myself from the tyrannical banking system, by buying silver instead of leaving money in bank accounts. If we choose not to use the financial system it will collapse. It is based on debt and if it isn't fed it will die.

Gold standard: because man can not be trusted to control his greed

I agree....

I still see the Silver market steeply increasing soon.

Ron Paul actually beating Obama, the poll Fox is showing sometimes that NBC & everyone hates

Current Paul supporter

and current Gary Johnson supporter. At least I can hold my head high with those two.

Herman Cain

And then I googled Ron Paul when Cain dropped and BLEW MY MIND. What a trip to recognise that Fox News was worse than the liberal MSM. No turning back when that happens. I vote for Ron Paul ONLY.

My story...

My story is that as a history buff, and revolutionary war fanatic, I always admired the founding fathers and their Libertarian views without ever hearing the term "Libertarian". Then, in 2008 as a registered independent I took one of those political positions quiz and it shot out Libertarian. I looked into the party some more and liked what I saw. Bob Barr came to my college campus and I was more than a little disappointed with him, but still loved the party platform.

Election day was tough for me, because I wasnt in love with Barr, and the two other knuckleheads seemed so similiar, except for the fact that one had made a selfish, purely political move in picking an Alaskan Governor as his running mate which soured me quickly to the "conservative" ticket. So, it was between Obama and Barr for me, and my vote was essentialy a vote against Palin. Its sad, but this time around I will NOT COMPROMISE my morals and integrity.

RON PAUL OR NO ONE AT ALL!!!!

Long-time lurker here on DP -

Long-time lurker here on DP - first post. I was an Obama supporter in 08 and became more and more frustrated with big Federal government ever since.

Ron Paul is the ONLY one that can unite everyone and put an end to us vs. them / red vs. blue

Like most people, I had do to my own research on Dr. Paul. I was first turned on him after this youtube video went viral last fall. I've been a devoted follower and campaign contributor ever since...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tgDprgIW844

If you have left leaning friends, share that link with them. That speech converted me.

I've always supported liberty, no matter the form.

I've always voted Libertarian for President, since my first vote in 1984. I support RP in the GOP as my plan A because it is the best shot at gaining a victory for liberty.

wish I could help--

I've been behind Paul since before 1988.

LOL!

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

ME

too.

Wish I could say the same!

Wish I could say the same! Thank you for sticking with Dr. Paul and waiting for all of us to come around. I am sorry it has taken so many years.

After 8 years of Bush

I came to the realization that the GOP doesn't really care WHO ends up president and vice president, Sarah Palin being THE FINAL straw. The game apparently is to get marketable know-nothings in there, and let the Neocon "handlers" guide them. Witnessing their treatment of Dr Paul also galvanized my belief that they just need a 'prop'.
So yes, I admit it, I would have voted for Obama if his afro was three feet across and he spoke like Mushmouth on Fat Albert. Turns out he's a prop too.

Yea think Rick Perry-WTF were

Yea think Rick Perry-WTF were they thinking??? They just want someone who looks pretty and is too stupid to question the status quo.

Are there any Romney or Santorum ex-supporters?

I know a handful of Romney supporters. They actually all like Ron Paul, it's just that "...he can't win. Romney is a good guy and will turn around all the bad things that Obama has put in place." Trust me, I'm still working on these people trying to show how similar Romney is and the fact that he NEVER addresses things like liberty and the totalitarian gov't, etc. I've honestly never met a Santorum supporter.

what they need to understand, if they can...

isn't whether obama and romney are similar, it's that no matter actually how similar they may be right now, it's that they are both controlled by the same thing and even if romney's etch a sketch changes his rhetoric drastically from obama in the end the same things are going to be happening. They are both puppets. This is what they need to understand! Why, oh why is it so difficult for them to get that?

He cant win. Unbelievable

He cant win. Unbelievable how that lie has been swallowed. He cant win because you are told he cant win so you wont vote for him so he wont win...Hopefully your Romney friends will wake up and understand that with their vote, he can win! I'm glad I'm finally done with that lessor of two evils paradigm.

Exactly!

Exactly!

Here's my story...

In 2008, I was an unenthusiastic Fred Thompson supporter with heavy libertarian leanings. I really enjoyed listening to Ron Paul and agreed with his positions, but felt he had no chance so I couldn't get behind him (yes, I was an idiot then). Once Thompson failed to get any momentum and dropped out, I was even more unenthusiastic...especially with the prospect of McCain, Huckabee, or Romney. Well, once McCain became nominee, I was disgusted until he selected Sarah Palin as a running mate. At that point, I became enthused again...I guess that's what the selection of a running mate should do. To me, without Palin, McCain would have been obliterated.

Flash forward to about a year ago. I was hoping Palin would announce and kept waiting. While waiting, I decided to give Ron Paul a chance...started reading his stuff, watching YouTube vids of his appearances and old speeches (plus, I was a fan of the old Morton Downey show when I was a kid...loved those appearances), and tracking his moves regarding throwing his hat into the 2012 GOP nomination race. That is when I had my political awakening. Once I was in for Dr. Paul, I was all in...no looking back...all of my free time went to reading about Dr. Paul and talking to any of my family and friends that wouldn't shun me when I told them about the greatness that is Ron Paul and, ultimately, his message of liberty. Eventually, I signed up to volunteer locally to go door-to-door spreading his message. My car is now decorated and my son talks about that amazing man that will be president, Dr. Ron Paul.

There are times when my eyes actually well up in tears when I am thinking about or speaking about Dr. Paul. I am confident that I made the right choice. And it isn't only about 2012, this was life changing for me, as I am sure it has been for many of you when you made the choice to support Dr. Paul.

Thank you Daily Paul for helping me with this ride. We aren't done yet...let's keep the fight going.

We had a good and trustworthy lightning rod in James A. Garfield

“Mark Twain as a Presidential Candidate” appeared in 1879. This was a year before the race between James A. Garfield, Republican candidate vesus Winfield Scott Hancock, Democrat. Although Twain found much to ridicule in politics and politicians, he was hardly reluctant to get involved or curry favor. A jubilant supporter of Garfield’s bid for the presidency, he delivered a mocking “funeral oration” for the Democratic Party at an election night victory celebration in Hartford. His somber tone initially fooled many in the audience. In Boston for another celebration four days later, he recounted the excitement of the campaign:

. . . everybody thought a thunderbolt would be launched out of the political sky. I judged it would hit somebody, and believed that somebody would be the Democratic party, and that it would hit them faithfully. I did not believe we had much to fear on the Republican side, because I believed we had a good and trustworthy lightning rod in James A. Garfield.

January 1881. Twain wrote “as a simple citizen” to President-elect Garfield and urged him to retain Frederick Douglass “in his present office as the Marshall of the District of Columbia.” As U.S. Marshal, Douglass presided over the inauguration of President Garfield, leading him into the Capitol for the ceremony on March 4. Before his first year as President was cut short by assassination, Garfield appointed Douglass as the District of Columbia’s first African American Recorder of Deeds.

Yes, Garfield one of our last great presidents....

Makes me laugh out in irony, when I think of any of these jokers like Huntsman declaring themselves as the new "James Garfield."

Apparently they had never heard of Ron Paul...

Impressive.

Thank you.

I have always believed in the

I have always believed in the Constitution. I just didn't realize we weren't following it until this election cycle. I supported Obama cause I wanted to replace Bush and end the wars... Since then, I have brought my family and many friends and neighbors to the dark side, FOR LIBERTY!

"to the dark side" ?????

I'd say you brought them into the light!

Maybe you're being facetious?

I say "dark side" as a play

I say "dark side" as a play on what the media thinks we are lol. They paint this cult like picture and I find it funny because really, once you find liberty, you never leave!

Before Ron Paul I supported and voted for

NO-ONE (except for Ronald Reagan in 1980).

After Ron Paul I suspect I will support and vote for NO-ONE again.

The law cannot make a wicked person virtuous…God’s grace alone can accomplish such a thing.

Liberty will not die. It is

Liberty will not die. It is an idea whose time has come. After Dr Pauls Presidency will must stay vigilant for Liberty. We must become involved other than just voting.

Paul supporter since 2007!

Before that I was a deceived neocon! My heart was in the right place as an American, but I was completely deceived about war & the reasons for it. I also woke up to the fact that both parties really carried over the same policies year after year. Also realized both parties were BOTH guilty of voting for the removal of our freedoms in the name of "terrorism". Both parties are working together to socialize this country. The only real fights they have is who gets to be the next big guy in the history books...the big shot. And all the ones that have dropped out in this election have been endorsing someone else...this shows whom they truly belong to...if that makes any sense.
