Pennsylvanians: Boycott The Apr 15 Money Bomb! (Unless...)

OK, people, looks like we Pennsylvanians are gonna have to play hardball with the national campaign.

We were Ron Paul's number one state in 2008 in raw votes, and almost number one in vote percentage.

We're Ron Paul's home state (he was born here and raised here until med school).

We have a realistic chance of gathering 35 delegates and an outside chance of gathering up to 50 delegates to the national convention. Those are unbound delegates that you know you won an hour after the polls close, not delegates to a meeting to a caucus to a convention who just might get elected unless derailed by the Republican machine and some obscure paragraph from Roberts Rules of Disorder.

So howcome the national campaign is treating us like a red-headed step-child?

So howcome we get The Doc for only a measly hour on the Sunday before the election?

Doesn't the national campaign look at recent Penna polling? Don't they see the huge number of undecideds?

Have the national campaign big-wigs been away from the grassroots so long that they forgot that the reason for the candidate to campaign is to fire up the activists so that the activists in turn fire up the grassroots to get out and vote?

If the campaign appears uninterested in Pennsylvania, why should Pennsylvania activists be interested in the campaign?

Don't make us boycott the 4/15 MoneyBomb......

On the other hand, if we get The Doc for a solid week of some good old fashioned campaigning (and OK, we'll let him talk to those nonvoting college kids too ;-)), maybe, just maybe Ron Paul will win his first State.

In Pennsylvania and

NOT boycotting the money bomb. PA is a closed primary state and we all have known from the beginning that the Campaign is focusing on Caucus states. Only time will tell if this is a good strategy but you have to give the campaign credit for sticking to their strategy and staying the course. Seems absurd to me that just because the campaign doesn't operate in the vision you have for them that you would call for a boycott.

Individually boycotting the money bomb is your choice, calling for everyone else to do it is a bad choice. If you have been paying attention to politics and Ron Paul's campaigns the last 4 years you would know the mountain we have to climb. One of those mountains is defeating people who get big money from places like Goldman Sachs to win the nomination or an election. Boycotting RP's money bomb will only help Romney, not me or you or Ron Paul.

Good luck with your boycott, I hope it doesn't work!

I thought the campaign was going to Pittsburgh?

. Anyway - please don't jump ship now - we have worked so hard. Have you tried contact with the campaign? Offer a place for him to speak and work to book it?

Two Man Race Now Between Ron & Romney & I Think A Lot of Us

are fired up since Rick dropped out. I know I am and today I talked to two friends about Ron Paul for the first time. One is in her 70's and a retired school teacher and the other one is in her 50's and has a degree in physics. The first words out of both of their mouths, "Is Ron Paul still running? I haven't heard anything about him and thought he dropped out. The school teacher said she liked Ron Paul and she will vote for him after our conversation. The physics person is a catholic and is going to do a search on the Internet to learn more about him. Another person, retired from the Veteran's hospital told me today and yesterday, you know Romney is going to be nominated. Of course my response was, no he isn't, Ron Paul is. He has not told me who he supports yet and we have been talking for months now. However, he did say he wanted to go to a rally to see Ron Paul if he comes back to California. I think I just need to convince him that Ron has a great chance of winning. The main stream media has been brain washing him. I have to ask him what news casts he watches. At any rate, if we all just keep talking to people about Ron Paul we will surely make a big difference when it comes to the number of votes and supporters across America!!! This is a very exciting time right now, we are in position to win this election! God Bless Everyone here at DP for your efforts including Ron Paul, his wife Carol, granddaughter Linda, family and campaign staff!

Western Pa Here

Chance for a good showing here, but one stump on the far east side of the state just isn't going to do much good in carrying the state. It's a highly congested area to drive into also. We don't need TV ads..too expensive! Stumps in Harrisburg, Penn State and Pittsburgh will bring out the local news stations across the state and that's free publicity. 3 unbound delegates from each district will go straight to Tampa. This doesn't get any easier! Don't understand why they are only stumping Philadelphia? Plus the stump in Philly is 2 days before elections and won't leave much time for his speech to sink in for the undecided. You will also need to know who the Paul delegates are for your district.
Post below says University of Pittsburgh now so that's a little help.

Settle Down Skippy...Ron Paul is coming

To PA.

April 19th - Cornell Univesity (I know not PA but if you live in North central or North east PA it is about a 2 hour drive to go see him)

http://www.dailypaul.com/226313/ron-paul-at-cornell-university

April 20th - University of Pittsburgh

http://www.dailypaul.com/226312/ron-paul-at-university-of-pi...

So you now have 2.5 PA events. And saturday the 21st is still open and since Dr Paul will be in PA on Friday and Sunday....it makes sense to either do a rally in Deleware or another in PA on saturday - he is already in the area!

Now stop complaining and get out there and help Ron Paul in PA!! Give to the money bomb. I pledged and WILL GIVE $1,000 on April 15th. Every dime of extra cash I have after paying off big brothers tax bill.

"If you put a gun to my head and said vote Romney/Gingrich/Santorum...I would say pull the trigger!"

Persasion, not force

Threatening to boycott is pretty much against Ron Paul's principles. Please don't threaten. Persuade, instead.

I do hope that Dr. Paul can go to Pennsylvania. Please donate as much as you possibly can so he could possibly afford it. Don't forget that he's not taking a free $500,000 a day in Secret Service protection.

I may sound like a bit of a nut at this, but is it possible for Ron Paul and his people to board up in supporters' homes? I'm sure the cost of hotels is bad, too.

"Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle is always a vice." -- Thomas Paine

I have never heard of a

I have never heard of a boycott being classified as using force.

I guess a truer term would be "power struggle"

Power struggles are pretty common in parenting, unfortunately. Basically exercising power over the other using threats ("Pick up your toys or you don't get any candy.") or bribes ('Pick up your toys so you can get some candy.") or guilt or raw authority and the other resist for no other reason than to resist ("You can't make me pick up my toys. You can take away Christmas for all I care. I won't let you have the satisfaction of winning.") Power struggles always end with someone being the "loser," submitting their will to the other.

That is what I see here. You truly see a good chance for Ron Paul to really win there in Pennsylvania, and you want him to take full advantage of it, but for some reason, it seems he is not. Instead of trying to find out why and try to reasonably convince the campaign to come over for a decent visit, you get angry and tell them that you will take away your support and tell others to withdraw their support. It may not be a violent kind of force, but it is a kind of financial and social force (social bullying). You threaten to take away Christmas if Ron Paul doesn't behave himself and does what you say, because you know what's good for his campaign.

I'm sorry you're frustrated. But boycotting Ron Paul is not the answer. That would only do everyone harm. You don't know what his plans are, so you don't know what he would have to give up to do what you're asking him to do.

Do what you can where you are. Post signs, whatever. Ad if you personally choose to not donate to the money bomb, that is your business. Please continue to support the cause of liberty in positive ways you feel good about.

i live in PA

and i will moneybomb.

Bullcrap!

I'm a Pennsylvanian, and if I have any money it's going into the moneybomb. I encourage my fellows Pennsylvanians to do the same.

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

All though I am bummed that the campaign

is not holding any major events in PA. I will continue to donate. So why don't you put your ass in your car and go to a scheduled rally in another state close by like I did and quit crying like a little biatch before you give the rest of us Pennsylvanians a bad name!

"So why don't you put your ass in your car and go to a scheduled rally in another state close by like I did and quit crying like a little biatch before you give the rest of us Pennsylvanians a bad name!"

Option 1: Drive 4 hours round trip, spend 3 hours at rally, total 7 hours. Choir preached to but no new votes for delegates.

Option 2: Get street lists for two voting divisions, approx 400-800 registered Republican voters in approx. 300 households. Walk the neighborhood, at each household drop a "Vote For These Delegates" palm card you had copied at Staples for the $25-$50 you would have sent to the moneybomb. Total 7 hours, collect approx, 200-300 more votes than you would have if you went to the rally instead.

Question: Which is better?

The Answer is....

Neither is better!

Let's add an Option 3: Get street lists for two voting divisions, approx 400-800 registered Republican voters in approx. 300 households. Walk the neighborhood, at each household drop a "Vote For These Delegates" palm card you had copied at Staples for the $25-$50 you would have sent to the moneybomb. Total 7 hours, collect approx, 200-300 more votes than you would have if you went to the rally instead.

But in this option 3, The Doc came to Pennsylvania and spent a week, holding real campaign events (not speeches to nonvoting college kids) in all 18 congressional districts. Let's say that RP's enthusiasm and inspiration from speaking at these campaign events motivated half of the 9,000-member Pennsylvania donor/volunteer list to do the precint literature drop as described above, and motivated the volunteers to hand out delegate palm cards at their polling places on 4/24.

The result? Not 200-300 more votes, but 4,500 times 200-300 more votes, which adds up to 900,000 to 1,350,000 more votes than you would have had. Based on the returns from 2008, that many votes should get almost every Ron Paul delegate elected.

RON Won't borrow money or print it

Wisdom Strategies

You're JOKING right?

You're seriously telling me that you want to suspend funds to his campaign because he can't afford to spend an entire week in Pennsylvania?

You call yourself a RP supporter? You sound like a 2 year old or worse a false flag infiltrator of this message board. Sorry! Not buying it!

You want Paul to come to Pennsylvania? Find a way to get it financed. The bottom line is this campaign needs money. We aren't being handed millions by lobbyists and bankers to fulfill their agenda once elected. Dr. Paul has to pick and choose his battles based on the pocketbook of the campaign. You want more? Then he needs more!

Your threat and/or logic makes no sense. Find a constructive way to get what you want. Boycotting a money bomb is counter productive. Seriously!

"You're seriously telling me

"You're seriously telling me that you want to suspend funds to his campaign because he can't afford to spend an entire week in Pennsylvania?"

Nope. I am suggesting that Pennsylvanians, who have already given $576,000 to the national campaign, should take the money they would have sent to the moneybomb and instead spend that money locally to get RP delegates elected.

Who says that RP can't afford to campaign in Penna? I never stated that. The national campaign has made a decision to skip Penna...now whether that's due to low funds or what, neither of us knows. IMHO that decision is a bad one and probably stems from a poor understanding of the delegate system and landscape here. I would venture to say that in many respects, even though Penna has a primary, the same grassroots low-level politicking that yields success in a caucus state would also yield success here.

You're Hereby Reprimanded.

Why would you choose to post this and expose your lack of simple logic? Are you truly so foolish? Paul isn't picking favorites, don't be so sensitive and childish. You should channel your energy into getting more people to contribute rather than threaten a boycott. Surely if the campaign raises larger sums of money then the likelihood would be more campaigning activity in every contest to come. It seems to me that your best hope for more time and attention from Paul in, PA, would be to promote more and more donations to the moneybomb. It's best to promote unity rather than division, especially at this crucial moment in the contest. Never give up. If you want to boycott something, boycott the enemy.

Never depend on national

Campaigns and national political party's will disappoint, you need to build it locally and make do with what you can muster up locally, we learned that in 2008 and with the national LP before that. I'll see you in Philly with a giant hemp pretzel getting the message out for RP2012....onward volunteers.

Working to free the hemp seed - Thanks to Congressman Paul's efforts HR 1831. Peace

I live in PA and I think the

I live in PA and I think the campaign probably looked at PA and looked at Texas and decided with the way the delegate selection goes, the money would be better spent there. Romney is not liked in Texas. He has been the only candidate polling worse than Obama down there. Ron Paul will win delegates from PA. Would he win more if he could run ads? Yes. But, my guess is they are rolling the dice on Texas. But, if the money bomb were HUGE, perhaps he would be able to run ads in PA and Texas.

"Would he win more if he could run ads? Yes. But, my guess is they are rolling the dice on Texas. But, if the money bomb were HUGE, perhaps he would be able to run ads in PA and Texas."

While some good, positive ads in Penna that effectively emphasize RP's core messages would be nice (especially since Penna voters have been polled and characterized Ron Paul as "unknown"), at this point it's unrealistic to expect them.

It is not unreasonable to expect the candidate to show up in the state.

Your comment implies he is

Your comment implies he is not coming at all. I know he is hitting Pittsburgh on Friday the 20th and Philly on Sunday the 22nd. I could see him squeezing State college in on the 21st but I haven't actually heard anything about it yet.

Tou ARE Ron Paul in PA

Just like I am Ron Paul(the grass and the roots) in WI
He was in Wisconsin(Madison) about the same amount of time.
5,200 in the crowd plus much other support from around the state and most if not all were appreciative. Quit the sour grapes

“The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time: the hand of force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them.”

– Thomas Jefferson

Well...

You had know this wouldn't be a popular topic. Now that Santorum is out of the race, Dr. Paul has a great chance to pull some real numbers here in PA. I'm not going to speculate as to what the heck his campaign managers are up to since I've personally disagreed with a lot of what they've done this cycle. I don't donate to the national campaign anymore as I think my money is better invested renting tables at gun shows, posting Ron Paul signs and info in various locations, renting a van for the Philly Rally, etc. You support Dr. Paul to whatever degree, in whatever way you wish. This isn't about me, or Dan, or even Dr. Paul. It's always been about restoring our republic. Please don't demagogue the issue by making silly comments about Dan wanting Dr. Paul to make him dinner. Put down the pompoms and put on your big boy pants.

NOTE: I am not advocating violence in any way. The content of the post is for intellectual, theoretical, and philosophical discussion. FEDS, please don't come to my house.

Common guys...

Whatever your objections may be, Ron's been at this for 40 years and probably knows as much as any on how to run a campaign to spread the message and get elected. Have a little faith. Now is the time to come together since there may be an opening if we can pull even with Romney in the next couple primaries.
