Doug Wead: Ron Paul to Obama and Romney: “Jerusalem is the capital of Israel”

News is now leaking out about a private meeting between evangelical leaders and presidential candidate Ron Paul which took place last Wednesday night. The leaders asked Dr. Paul about an Executive Order moving the American Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. “The real issue here is not what America wants but what Israel wants. We have no right to chose their capital,” Dr. Paul said, “If they say it is Jerusalem, then it is Jerusalem.” (cont'd)

Gee, responding to my post with such attitude

after only after having signed up for 1-1/2 hrs.? Nice.

It's a powder keg over there! We have the right to respond to any nation's "internal policies" when our national security is at risk; and supporting instead of stopping their illegal settlements is a significant reason why we are hated and targed around the world! BLOWBACK, how ironic you mention that... maybe you should at least look it up.

And I guess whoever violently takes over someone else’s land and sticks a flag on it, it becomes “sovereign”. Well, I think it’s a little more complicated than that:

“The international community has rejected the annexation [of East Jerusalem] as illegal and treats East Jerusalem as Palestinian territory held by Israel under military occupation. The international community does not recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital, and the city hosts no foreign embassies.” -Wikipedia (w/referenced documents)

Since Mitt Romney because the Council on Foreign Relations has said he would be a good choice i decided to visit a site on Mormonism and the Articles of faith. I found article 10 interesting in that it claimed that Zion, the New Jerusalem would be in America.By now, every citizen should know that every president and vice-president as well as most of the presidents cabinet and administration, if not already members become members of the Council on Foreign Relations.George Romney was a member. Obama and Michelle are members.because i do my own research and read publication like whistleblower and books like DREAMS FROM MY FATHER, THE MANCHURIAN PRESIDENT, CORE of CORRUPTION and THE ROOTS OF OBAMA'S RAGE, i know why and how he planned to weaken the United States economy and the military. His former "greens jobs" czar, Van Jones said in 2005 in an Uprising Radio interview, the all-consuming focus on "green jobs" is actually a pretext, a means for bringing down capitalism. Our governments creates a crisis and of course, they are the only one who can solve it. I disagree with Ron Paul on this one...

The UN created Israel and Israel gets its justification for existence from the UN. The terms of that creation was that Tel Aviv was to be the new nation's Capital and that Jerusalem was to become an International City, belonging to no nation. The Palestinians were offered Nationhood, but refused it, not liking the fact that a new nation was being created out of the areas that they considered theirs yet ruled by the Ottoman Turks. The Palestinians ought to accept the Nation that was offered to them, and make peace with Israel.

There's a difference between one acre of land and one thousand

Just in case they deliberately left out some facts, here's a quicky:

Israel was given XX number of land. They invited all the Jews from all over the world to *return* to Israel. Upon their return, they were given money and free homes. As more land is need they just spread out. Like the Wide West, settlers there started occupying lands outside the agreed boundaries. The Israeli gov't turns a blind eye became deaf and mute. Some spoke out but the "too big to fail" mode was well under way. Breaking treaties after treaties, Israel did what it wanted to do. The sold-out U.S. politicians gave Israel total control of all the financial aid money given by the U.S. to Israel to manage (gee, doesn't that have a similar tone to the Federal Reserve). Portion of the financial aid was for the Palestinian people, but Israel holding the purse string did not give the Palestinian's their share. They diverted it for their own use and only let out a drip of money when the Palestinian allowed Israel to ride them. Control the purse string, you control it's people (gee, again the similarities). It's the usual MO, the Zionist Jews squeezed and squeezed and came down hard on the natives until the natives fought back with sticks and stones and a few rockets here and there; Israel did their song and dance complains but that's part of the plan, part of the show; they were not the ones being annihilated. Do on to others as others do on to you. (Gees, didn't the same thing happened in the U.S. with the native Indians and how they were the bad guys for defending their land--well too late now--and that's the goal make it a "too late now" situation.) Israel cried fowl when they were the ones with the real bullets and disproportionate control over every aspect of Palestinian lives (gees, that sound familiar too). Israel's Jewish population exploded requiring more and more land, soon the XX number of land becomes XXXXX... number and growing. You find a map of Israel in the early 50's and 60's and compare that to now. Reality check. There are fair minded Jews in Israel who are against the Israeli government's treatment of the Palestinians so it is not a "all for one and one for all" deal. The latest crime against humanity is the die-hard settlers taking control over water wells in the outer reaches of occupy territories and not allowing Palestinians access to water. Israel should learn to live with other people as equals and not allow greed to dominate every aspect of their lives. A Jewish friend told me he was brought up to believe money is everything and that was his drive toward success. Money is make believe and his life is based on that. Symptoms are not the cause of the disease. Jews and Palestinians lived together for hundred of years before the rift. If they get rid of religion, they're the same people.

I say: if you can't make it better, don't make it worst!

What do you mean by saying that "The Palestinians ought to accept the Nation that was offered to them, and make peace with Israel?"

Sovereign nations

To say that Israel is only a nation because the UN allows it, is to say that the only reason the US is a nation is because the UN allows it. While this is true (any nation may be conquered) and the union of nations doesn't want to attack Israel or the US, all nations remain because of divine choice. Any time He decides to take out a nation, it gets took, and by whomever He chooses.

As things stand, there will never be peace, as we think of peace. There will only be the relative peace that has existed in this area between Philistines (Palestinians, Philitini in Hebrew and Arabic) and Israelites. For a taste of this history, read the Bible (try the book of Judges, 1 Samuel, and 1 & 2 Chronicles) to note how far back this feud goes.

UN created Israel,

the UN was created for this purpose, as was the League of Nations before it, which "gave" Administration of Transjordan (including Palestine) to Britain.
my +1 removed the -1.
edit - now more minus are showing

UN and Israel

The UN should stop meddling in the internal affairs of Israel and let it be.

Israel should consider withdrawing from the UN imo. Israel's neighbors will then and only then be more mindful of provoking Israel.

Israel should also continue with its efforts regarding accession along its borders imo if it feels that this type of action is in its best interest.

Do you also believe that the UN should

stay out of affair for all nations around the world? Should the UN stand by and allow bully nations to beat up on weak nations?

Are you for a form of Darwin's Survival of the Fittest among nations?

Minnesota Mary

Good Question

The UN has strayed very far from its original mandate and has grown into a bloated and crooked bureaucracy with un-elected reps.

Bi-lateralism should be more appreciated and practiced.

I am more in favor of peaceful cooperation between nations as RP recommends but with non-entagnling alliances. If a good example is set others will emulate it or self destruct. Take care of your own backyard first.

Moreover men and women are free to help out nations that they understand to be oppressed with time and resources. BUT do not force others to carry the torch with you if they do not feel the same about foreign issue.

If people are being truly savaged somewhere in the world, bringing attention to the issue and throwing down diplomatic pressure and helping any refugees is most likely the best way to start.

There are many, many, injustices in this world. As long as the residents in your or one's home country is pursuing truth, justice, and virtue, there is then hope for the rest of the world.

...as George Washington envisioned and Dr. Paul envisions is the way to go. I would rather leave the survival of each nation to itself than have some nanny global power trying to go around in the name of security, taking away our national liberty and sovereignty. This is akin to our own nation going around in the name of security and destroying our Constitution in the process. The potential for abuse is just too great to have global institutions like the UN dictating things.

Where nations see it in their common best interests to form short-term alliances in war, then fine; but George Washington spoke against forming entangling alliances that were long-term. In his Farewell Address he said we should honor the treaties of the day, but get out of them and not extend them when possible.

Beware what folks will try to sell you in the name of 'security' or 'compassion', whether at the federal or international level!

this'll be more popular in israel than in the US

but I think Paul has a strong pro-Israel message when given the chance. He's saying Let's not prop Israel up but let's support her in whatever decisions she makes.

Wrong analisys

Ron Paul is disliked in Israel because Israel is full of socialist-progressives exactly same as America. The Israeli socialists almost gave half of Jerusalem to Arafat in 1998. Conservative Israeli Jews, on the other hand, support individual liberty and free market (Israel has 13 political parties in congress including two Arab parties.)

Ron Paul stance - mind our own business, trade with all. If Americans did not complain about giving loans to UK and USSR during their difficult time and trillions to EU banks, Americans should not complain if in dire situation Israel asks for some loans. If not, private business (in a free society) will step up to plate on its own.

What if...

Israel decides to attack Syria or Lebanon and claim their land as her own? Should we support Israel in those decisions?

Minnesota Mary

So far, Israel has only gained land

in defensive wars when they were attacked first. That will probably remain the case.

What will be the outcome of this decision?

This is the question that probably exercises those who feel strongly about the Israel v. Palestinian issue.

One the one side there are those who support the Palestinians' right to their own State on the 1967 borders or even on the original 1948 borders. They strongly oppose the incremental acquisition of their land by the Israeli settlement programme and the suspected long term Israeli goal of annexation of the entire West Bank and Gaza plus the lands that used to comprise Greater Israel.

On the other side there are those who believe that Israel has a God given right to ALL the land of what was once the ancient United Kingdom of Israel under King Solomon which was the furthest extent of the land grant given to them by God. They believe that God promised them that He would bring them back to their land and settle them there in peace and plenty.

The difficulty is that both the Palestinians and the Israelis want to have Jerusalem/al Quds as their capital. Israel especially is not willing to share the city. This poses an intractable problem. In September 2000 Ariel Sharon visited the Temple Mount in Jerusalem with 1000 security guards to lay claim to it. This is the location of the Al- Aqsa mosque and it was credited with starting the second intifada.

What would happen if the Israelis declared Jerusalem the capital of Israel? If Netanyahu is till Prime Minister it is very likely he would take advantage of President Paul's "hands off" attitude and so declare it. This would set the scene for the final war I believe between the Muslims and the Jews. I also believe that Jerusalem is destined to be destroyed as the final act of the ongoing war that began on 9/11.

This is one more very clear portent I believe that Ron Paul is destined to be President. He is a committed non-interventionist and it is unthinkable that he would interfere with any decision of this nature by Israel especially if he has indicated that he would not do so to the evangelical leaders in writing. This being the case I believe that the action then taken by Israel would as I have said set off the final war that would end with the utter destruction of Jerusalem...never to be rebuilt as prophesied in Jeremiah 19:10-11:

"The Lord continued, “Now break the jar in front of those who have come here with you. Tell them the Lord who rules over all says, ‘I will do just as Jeremiah has done. I will smash this nation and this city as though it were a potter’s vessel which is broken beyond repair."

Since then Jerusalem and the nation of Judah in its land has been destroyed twice, once by the Babylonians and once by the Romans, but always rebuilt. The third destruction is now upon us and there will be no rebuilding.

"Jesus answered them: 'Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin. The slave does not remain in the house forever; the son remains forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.'" (John 8:34-36)

This is just wrong

I know Ron Paul doesn't get much votes from the Jewish community but this is just plain wrong. I believe Ron Paul at all times just shouldn't help or even make good relations with Israel, They are an evil country and America helps Israel out to much which is wrong, Ron Paul should just stand for what he has been saying for the past 20 years and just stay away from Israel

Fakes - or Really Chosen? ?

Yank, you are right, zionist govt is evil, +1 for that removes the -1. The zionist govt should Not have a free hand to play mischief within the illegal /forcefully occupied lands in Palestine or in the neighborhood, ~
see video, re new Pearl Harbour etc.,

Ron Paul has won the Jewish

Ron Paul has won the Jewish vote all over the country...here's an example:

Never be afraid to ask simple questions.

I'm glad to see Paul

stand up for Israels right as a sovereign nation to have Jerusalem as their capitol as it should be.

Hey, as long

as the Palestinians can have it as *their* capital, too...

Obviously Ron Paul's postion is the same.

Israel can do what it wants, and it also can suffer the consequenses of THEIR choice which means, no us intervention. :)

Why is Doug Wead

pushing a subject that is so obviously divisive among Ron Paul supporters?

We agree on so many, drastically more important things.

gold = money
war = health of the state
liberty = prosperity

I am honestly questioning how this is a divisive issue--

there are those of us who are powerfully non-interventionist, just because we are--

and there are many Ron Paul supporters (there is a large group in Israel) who applaud his non-interventionist attitude towards any country in the middle east, including and especially Israel.

Who is left out in the cold? If many Israelis want the U.S. to stay out of their business . . .

and if liberty-loving Americans want America to stay out of "anywhere else on earth but America"--

where is the conflict?

There is a somewhat large group of misinformed people who think that America is, somehow, 'helping' Israel, but that is pretty much MSM propaganda.

Unfortunately, the MSM has gotten away with it for years, as have others who care little about Israel's ultimate well-being and seem to think that America must meddle in Israeli affairs.

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

It's a calculated move.

It's within Ron's positions of principle to be non-interventionist, and so it's relatively easy to support a change of embassy location if the other country wants it. Just a diplomatic procedure.

On the other hand, for securing some much-needed support for the nomination process from the evangelical right that is looking for their alternative to Romney, a simple thing like that might make all the difference in winning or losing the nomination.

So, since it isn't outside of his principles, and could be productive in increasing support inside the GOP, I think it's a good idea. And apparently so does Ron and Doug.

The world is making the same mistake that was made 2000 yrs ago

Jerusalem and Zion are two different things while also being the same. Jerusalem is where Jacob saw the ladder going from Jerusalem up to heaven and angels ascending and descending on the ladder. The city of David was built in Jerusalem and the temple was built on the hill of Zion. Jerusalem is known through history as the city of two hills because it has two hills. One being the Hill of Zion the other being the hill of evil council (which is where Judas betrayed Jesus and where the UN sets today). Jerusalem does set in the Heart of Israel and many people believe because Israel surrounds Jerusalem they must own it. But the bible does not teach this. The bible is very clear the City of Jerusalem was the City where Gods people could gather in preparation for their holy days. Their Holy days fully centered on the Hill of Zion which is where the temple set. The reason the Hill of Zion mattered to the Hebrew children is because that is where the Holy Spirit descended and to them that is where their God lived (Keep that in mind even to them the temple is Where The Holy Spirit LIVED!) God makes it very clear in the Bible that the holy hill of Zion is his holy hill. Some people assume that the Covenant made to Abraham means that the Hebrew people where to inherit the land after him because it said to your and your seed. The one thing nobody talks about is the word seed is singular (the seed is Jesus) who came through Abraham. and when they laid out the land of Israel Jerusalem is not included in any tribes parcel of land. God chose the tribe of Judah to bring his seed out of, but even when Judah had their land plotted out when it got to Jerusalem it stopped at the boarder of Jerusalem. The Levitt's did not even receive a parcel of earthly land because their reward would be decided in Heaven. God resided in the Heart of Israel (Jerusalem) and Zion is his holy hill. Jerusalem was to be open to all men not just the Hebrew children and the Temple (which was on the hill of Zion) was to be open to all who believed. The holy of holies was for God and only one man (the high priest was allowed to go in it and only at set times.

In this passage it is clear that their land (Judah), which was to the south of Jerusalem, stopped at the southern edge of Jerusalem.

Josh 15:1-8

So this was the lot of the tribe of the children of Judah according to their families:

The border of Edom at the Wilderness of Zin southward was the extreme southern boundary. 2 And their southern border began at the shore of the Salt Sea, from the bay that faces southward. 3 Then it went out to the southern side of the Ascent of Akrabbim, passed along to Zin, ascended on the south side of Kadesh Barnea, passed along to Hezron, went up to Adar, and went around to Karkaa. 4 From there it passed toward Azmon and went out to the Brook of Egypt; and the border ended at the sea. This shall be your southern border.

5 The east border was the Salt Sea as far as the mouth of the Jordan.

And the border on the northern quarter began at the bay of the sea at the mouth of the Jordan. 6 The border went up to Beth Hoglah and passed north of Beth Arabah; and the border went up to the stone of Bohan the son of Reuben. 7 Then the border went up toward Debir from the Valley of Achor, and it turned northward toward Gilgal, which is before the Ascent of Adummim, which is on the south side of the valley. The border continued toward the waters of En Shemesh and ended at En Rogel. 8 And the border went up by the Valley of the Son of Hinnom to the southern slope of the Jebusite city (which is Jerusalem).

In this passage He (God) calls Zion his.

Ps 2:12

Why do the nations rage,And the people plot a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves,And the rulers take counsel together,Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, 3 "Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us."
4 He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The LORD shall hold them in derision. 5 Then He shall speak to them in His wrath,And distress them in His deep displeasure: 6 "Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion ."
7 "I will declare the decree:The LORD has said to Me,'You are My Son,Today I have begotten You. 8 Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance,And the ends of the earth for Your possession. 9 You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter's vessel.'"
10 Now therefore, be wise, O kings;Be instructed, you judges of the earth. 11 Serve the LORD with fear,And rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest He be angry,And you perish in the way,When His wrath is kindled but a little.Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.

In this passage he's making a comparison between; Judah is to Israel as Jerusalem is to Zion. He also shows a comparison; What is known [Spirit] (at that time only the Spirit had been revealed)is to the name as the tabernacle is to his dwelling place (which was the holy of holies. Which means the name is in the Spirit

Ps 76:1-2

In Judah God is known;
His name is great in Israel.
2 In Jerusalem also is His tabernacle,
And His dwelling place in Zion.

In this passage even God makes a distinction between the division [represents a closed door] and/or unity [represents an open door](The Gates/Jerusalem) of his dwelling (Zion/temple) and Jacobs (the promise land)

Ps 87
his foundation is in the holy mountains.
2 The LORD loves the gates of Zion
More than all the dwellings of Jacob.
3 Glorious things are spoken of you,
O city of God!

4 "I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to those who know Me;
Behold, O Philistia and Tyre, with Ethiopia:
'This one was born there.'"

5 And of Zion it will be said,
"This one and that one were born in her;
And the Most High Himself shall establish her."
6 The LORD will record,
When He registers the peoples:
"This one was born there."

7 Both the singers and the players on instruments say,
"All my springs are in you."

Again he calls Zion his. Only in this passage he includes Jerusalem as his dwelling place not just the temple.

Zech 8:3

3 "Thus says the LORD:

'I will return to Zion ,
And dwell in the midst of Jerusalem.
Jerusalem shall be called the City of Truth,
The Mountain of the LORD of hosts,
The Holy Mountain.'

This sums it up! God will tire of the closed door policy of Jerusalem. The stumbling block that is in Jerusalem is everyone wants to lay claim to something that can only be owned by God. The truth is represented by the Zion and Peace is represented by Jerusalem. Only Jesus (the seed/one) holds claim to Zion/truth and Jerusalem/peace. The name is in the Spirit/Son of God and the spirit is in the flesh/the Son of Man. The Sons name is Jesus either way you look at it. That has been the stumbling block for all men. There is no trinity involved! There is the Holy Spirit/Light/Life and there is the Flesh/darkness/sin. To receive the Light/Life/Zion you have to darken/die/close the gate to sin. The only way to do this is to understand the Son and be buried in his name. Then you will find the Rainbow/Peace/Jerusalem. The rainbow comes from rightly dividing the dark and the light (Word of God).

Heb 12:22-24

22 But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, 23 to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, 24 to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel.

The fact that even Christians do not understand that Jerusalem/peace can be found in the hearts of all men is a testament to why this world is so ungodly. This is Why God said to love your neighbor as yourself. This is how you find Jerusalem/Peace. If your looking for truth you look to the other side of the Gate and worship the Lord with all your heart soul and mind. This is how you find Zion/Truth. All men can know peace but only a Righteous man can know the Zion/Truth. Allot of Christians feel frustrated that men do not want to know the Zion/truth but think how much more silly it seems to mankind when Christians are not even interested in Jerusalem/Peace

And the Jerusalem that really matters...

is the one spoken about in Revelation 21:2.

"And I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared and ready, like a bride dressed to meet her husband."

The 'capital' in Israel is the American taxpayer. Where else would they get their money?

I have never made but one prayer to God, a very short one: "O Lord make my enemies ridiculous." And God granted it.

Why do they listen

to Ron Paul after Santorum dropped out? Santorum is not an Evangelical he's a Catholic (different beliefs)...kinda tired of RP being second best to these very misguided people.

The law cannot make a wicked person virtuous…God’s grace alone can accomplish such a thing.
