50% of the people you meet are below average...Submitted by BigPicture on Sun, 04/15/2012 - 13:37
These words spoken by comedian Steven Wright have far more truth to them than you might think. Comedian Christopher Titus quotes an article that states that 63% of Americans are disfunctional. The point of all this? While Ron Paul and his followers have won over many intellectuals, there is a HUGE faction of America that blindly follows the status quo based on nothing more than feelings. These are the people that vote the party line, they react through fear and mistrust. If a candidate tells them he will take care of them and their children, and if that candidate fosters their trust through lies and creates distrust for other candidates, he will almost assuredly get their vote. This is the problem. Just look at the resistance to Ron Paul's foreign policy for example. The media plays on the fear that if we withdraw rather than expand our military that America will be attacked.
50% -- HALF -- of the people you meet are below average. So what is the solution? I can't tell you the specifics, but I can tell you this- Ron Paul's campaign has to win not only the minds of the people, but their HEARTS as well. Maybe it's time to reconsider the campaign's approach, not to take anything away (it has been hugely successful) but to ADD something more to reassure these folk who vote with their hearts. Win the HEARTS and MINDS of the people and you will win the election.
