Red Alert! The 'Cyber Intelligence Sharing & Protection Act' CISPA (HR 3523) Already Has Over 100 Co-sponsors

Link to the EFF's Action Page

This bill already has over 100 Congressional co-sponsors, and is bolting through Congress! This is very upsetting! I just called my PA Congressman (Rep. Thomas Marino) and asked if he was a co-sponsor. They said, yes. I said, "Well you tell him I said not to support this bill, and if he does the next time his name comes around, HE IS OUT!"

THIS BILL WILL GIVE THEM CONTROL OF THE INTERNET!!!!! I am told it is worse than SOPA, the last bill they tried to control the internet with. Everyone yelled and SOPA was taken off the floor.
WE CAN DO IT AGAIN!!!!! PLEASE STOP RIGHT NOW AND CALL!!!!!!

April 18, 2012

Dear Representative,

I am writing to urge you to oppose HR 3523, the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act of 2011, because it constitutes a wholesale attack on public access to information under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
In the interest of encouraging private companies to share cybersecurity threat information, the bill unwisely and unnecessarily cuts off all public access to cyber threat information before the public and Congress have the chance to understand the types of information that are withheld under the bill. Much of the sensitive information private companies are likely to share with the government is already protected from disclosure under the FOIA. Other information that may be shared could be critical for the public to ensure its safety. The public needs access to some information to be able to assess whether the government is adequately combating cybersecurity threats and, when necessary, hold officials accountable.
Any effort to expand of the authority of the federal government to withhold information from the public should begin with careful consideration, including public hearings, by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, which has jurisdiction over FOIA. That Committee has the expertise needed to ensure that FOIA-related provisions promote transparency and public accountability while allowing the government to withhold only that information which truly requires protection.
We urge you to oppose HR 3523, and we look forward to working with Congress to ensure any cybersecurity legislation passed into law both protects our nation’s computer networks and promotes transparency and accountability to the public.

Sincerely,

Right on!!!

Wow!!! Thanks man! I will def use this. Saves me some typing. You, sir, are the real deal.

This one is good too

I’m writing today to urge you to oppose dangerously vague legislation like H.R. 3523 and any similar cybersecurity bill that would give unfettered immunity to companies to monitor and share sensitive user data with the government and one another.

Congress has enacted privacy legislation to protect the sanctity of our electronic communications, but bills like H.R. 3523 and similar "cybersecurity" proposals eviscerate these well-constructed privacy protections.

The sweeping language around "cybersecurity purposes" is so overbroad and vague that it:

• Would allow companies to monitor and collect any kind of data, no matter how sensitive it was, even private emails and text messages.
• Would give companies a free pass to share data with anyone at all, including other companies and the federal government.
• Gives companies total immunity from being held liable for their actions, no matter how many peoples’ privacy is violated.
• Hands the keys to this data to intelligence agencies, which lack transparency and public accountability.

Please don’t trample on our civil liberties in a rush to pass "cybersecurity" legislation. Oppose H.R. 3523 and any other dangerously vague and overbroad "cybersecurity" bill that would give immunity to companies to share almost any information with the government and one another and threaten civilian control of cybersecurity.

Sincerely,

It's mam but I guess you

It's mam but I guess you wouldn't have known that so I will let it slide. I copied this off the internet. Just do a google search for form letter opposing CISPA.

Thanks Again.

Mam.

Its amazing how these so called representitives of the people

can so miss represent the people. Are they power crazy. Meglamanical insane. I think we need to withdraw their mandate to protect anyone or anything for it seems they use the excuse to protect us fore every sinister vile insane genocidal new proclaimation they make. What does DC attract only insane humans?

sovereign

call to Pat Tiberi

I called my rep today. The assistant told me that Tiberi had not taken a position on CISPA yet "because the bill is going through some changes." I voiced my opposition to the bill. We'll see what happens.

Let's advertise the name list of these 100 assholes!

How about publishing the list of these 100 traitors everywhere in the internet ?

My congressman is a sponsor

and my company is hosting a table at a speaking breakfast for him on Friday. We should be front and center for the event. I'm studying up.

Called one of my congressman's 5 offices

And really gave them a piece of my mind. He is a co sponsor. I told them that if this bill passed and that he didn't reconsider his position, I would make it my mission to make sure that he is not elected in the next congressional elections. I told them I would run myself if I had to, just to make sure he wasn't my congressman again.

I sent it to my reps and

I sent it to my reps and added a personal note. I said I do not understand complicated bills but I do understand that lost freedoms are dangerous. God chooses not to destroy the weeds for fear of uprooting the wheat as well. At the judgement he will separate the wheat from the weeds. So even if there is some good in a bill does not mean we should uproot the wheat as well.

    Ron Paul should mention

these kinds of things that are "right now" govt. attrocities.

I get so sick and tired of always having to be on guard and watching every move my congressman makes. (Never protecting MY liberty and Constitutional freedoms.)

    Hey,

I saw goodlatte on that list. I was looking for him. I am surprised this one wasn't drafted by him. That man has been on a crusade against the internet for the last decade. He is the one that got that online gambling act passed on a port bill back in 07. This guys is scum.

    Thanks for the link

I just signed up with Popvox.com
Another great site to let your voice be heard is downsizedc.org
They send you updates on all the corruption that is going on and letters to send to your congressman.
This is really our last resort.

    LOL! Sure it does!

The Congresscritters don't like seeing themselves lying on Youtube and folks keeping tabs on their voting records, all easily accessible online. The state wants us stupid and poor, they are not our protectors or "representatives".

Calling tomorrow. Starting with my 2 senators and my 1 rep

I'll try to call all of the freshman 123. I will remind them: Remember 2010! A clean sweep of the house. It was historical and stunning. I predict it will happen again this November!

    Sad

Hi all, my first post on the Daily Paul.

It's pretty sad we have a congress who's goal is to restrict our freedoms and control us.

The economy is collapsing and this is what we get from congress.

I have donated money to Ron, not sure how much, but it's around $500.00 plus dollars.

For now all I can do is support Ron with money and my vote as well as talking to people about Ron Paul.

I'm often surprised at the amount of people who don't know anything about Ron or his message.

I tell them about Ron Paul and his message. I try to get the word out.

One thing I hear is, what can Ron Paul do as President against congress, he can't change things.

Well actually he can. Do you think our current congress would even try to pass a bill like this with Ron Paul as President? The power of the veto. Imagine how good the feeling would be knowing if Ron was President that this bill would never be signed by him. The truth the President can shape the policy of our country with the veto.
We all would feel very comfortable with Ron if he were in office, as this bill would never be signed by him.

You can imagine he would shame congress into doing the right thing.
With Ron as President we wouldn't even see bills like this come to the floor.

    Signed several

Petitions today and I posted on a forum for my favorite game, LoL. They took a stand against SOPA/PIPA so I posted something asking them to stand against CISPA. If any of you play the game or are interested in the conversation feel free to use this link:

    Isaiah 2:4
And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

use change.org to petition it's death...

Change.org has helped stopped the previous of such Bills, so has the site listed below. Please use the site, it is quite powerful in getting millions of people to unit and work together. It does take some work in that a petition has to be written for others to sign.

Another good public action website is popvox.com. This website gives you the entire text, status, names of sponsors, etc., of a Bill. You sign in support or opposition of a Bill and ALL votes are forwarded to YOUR Congressperson and Senators. I couldn't believe it until I got a response from my Senators. Don't believe me, find out yourself but this is the way to go.

I say: if you can't make it better, don't make it worst!

we got PIPA and SOPA stopped

we can get this stopped as well ,but if not then i say we take to the streets because it will not stop until we stop it ourselves!!!

change.org and popvox.com they helped to stop PIPA and SOPA...

Popvox.com votes and comments go directly to signer's Congressional representatives and Senators. You actually get a response back from your legislators.

Change.org also work. Both these sites unit millions of the public voices and channel it on a target. Please use.

I say: if you can't make it better, don't make it worst!

    Do not

Be shocked when this passes people. It is going to pass, These people do not care a single bit about what you or I say. I would not even waste my breath calling them, Use your breath to scream out in the streets and inform people what is going on.

    So

I take it by the down votes everyone here still thinks these people give a crap what you and I say? you think they are going to give you a fair shake? I thought we were trying to wake up here and not be stuck in delusions..

    It may or may not

win this time. They will keep trying to pass this kind of bill if it does not pass. The negative attitude is what people are down voting. We need to stand tall, stand together and fight for our freedom. Never give up or surrender. Your choices and will to make your own decisions are at stake.

    Isaiah 2:4
And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

    What is the big problem?

The reason these jacka$ses don't hear us, is because trustees have no business or legal authority to demand anything from beneficiaries/administrators of a trust agreement (Constitution).

They've tricked us into the role of trustee (where they are once they take that magic oath that pulls all their teeth so they have no authority over you and I) and presumed themselves into a beneficiary slot.

This is why they do whatever the hell they please once they get into office: Trustees do NOT order Beneficiaries of a Trust agreement/corporation around.

Stop calling the phone lines to the offices of the trustees masquerading around the capitol as beneficiaries to the Trust agreement (US Constitution) and go to your local court house in the servant/trustee's district and file a law suit for breach of trust.

Walk into the court and when the judge asks your name, remember that's trick to get you to contract with the court and submit your authority to the judge, ultimately knocking yourself down into a trustee position and the case never goes anywhere.

All you need to say is "Excuse me judge, are you a public servant?" and watch them go ape shit crazy, then ask if they took an oath of office, and when they say "YES", that's when they just admitted they are nothing more than toothless trustees and be sure to label them as such and let them know you are here as an beneficiary of the trust (US Constitution) and/or (E)State of (insert state here) and now you're in the position of authority in the courtroom and you can use the sheriff to enforce your demands.

We now have legal recourse and authority over these jackals if people will read my posts here and the comments under them to wake you up to what's really happening.

    and

This is a very easy fix people, all we have to do is start bringing them in for breach of trust every time they pull some crap like this or anything that's repugnant to the Trust agreement (Constitution) they took an oath to stay within the confines of.

    Executor-Beneficiary-Trustee = God-We The People-Government

That's the Holy Trinity, it's Trust Law, and Trust Law is what all these courts are operating under.

Govern yourselves accordingly or you'll wake up one day to find that you're now being governed by your inferiors (the trustees).

NOTE: Just a few of these lawsuits is all it will take and this $hit will come to an immediate halt!

    If the solution is as

If the solution is as simplistic as you make it appear, then hold seminars teaching folks the DETAILS on how to file a breach of trust with their local courts. If your remarks can be substantiated by the actions of a local court, I'm quite sure you'll find willing participants in such filings. In the meantime, don't discourage people from contacting their "representatives" regardless of it's efficacy or lack thereof. I'm NOT saying your method lacks merit.

Paulista Uprising in Georgia Against NDAA

More good news! Georgia's GOP Congressional District conventions were Saturday the 14th. Here's some news from the 12th District Convention in Vidalia. We presented two resolutions: one to repeal Section 1021 of the NDAA, and one to End the Fed. Both passed with 95% majorities. We unseated one delegate to Tampa and took that spot (one of three) and took one alternate spot (also one of three). Here's what happened:
