Kelly Maher & Ron Paul delegate Confrontation over Denver County Colorado Republican Assembly

Published on Apr 17, 2012 by RenegadeRvolutionary

Republican blogger Kelly Maher and Ron Paul supporter and delegate Ken Griffin confront each other outside the Colorado Convention Center at the Friday April 13th Republican Multi-District Congressional Assembly. This had been building up for a month after the events of the March 10th Denver County Assembly where Mr. Griffin and other Republicans became party to a 'decent in to madness' as the chair was accused of ignoring Roberts Rules and a legitimate procedural call.

A video blog (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aY6z15LcmAM) by Miss Maher sparked a huge fight between Ron Paul supporters and the rest of the Colorado Republicans. That fight ends here...?

Please don't let your frustrations get the better of you

The behavior at the beginning of this video was disgusting, on behalf of both parties. I almost turned it off. That is not how you talk to people. It is ineffective, unpersuasive and reflects poorly on Ron Paul and Ron Paul supporters. Thankfully, later on in the video, apologies were made and a civil, though spirited, discourse commenced and ended amicably.

Often times we let the venom and injustice that we're assaulted with day in and day out, because of our support for Ron Paul, build up within us. Then when we find who we feel is a source of that venom we unleash on them for what they did to us. Be it a friend, family member, coworker, boss, congressmen, news anchor, blogger, etc. It may feel cathartic, you may feel vindicated, but it does us no good. Most of the time the person we attack has no idea they offended you or that they did anything wrong, they just think your some kind of rabid crazy person taking things out of proportion. They are not persuaded, in fact they become even more cemented in their erroneous beliefs and opinions than ever before.

Don't let the venom build up in you. Don't unleash it on people. Let it go. Be at peace. Infect people with our hope, determination, knowledge, integrity, love and respect. That is how you win people over and change hearts and minds.

I commend Ken for the fight he is putting up in Denver and for valiantly standing his ground when the odds and the establishment were against him. We all know it can get frustrating and downright unfair, but let us keep our heads and our wits about us. Fear and frustration are signs that we think we are losing. Don't allow them. Though there may be setbacks there are also open doors and new opportunities that only we are in position to take advantage of. We should be far from that kind of thinking or feeling. We are winning over more and more every day. Don't give up or give in to frustration. Revolutions don't happen over night and we need everyone on our side, even those who are against us at the moment.

of course, you're right,

but sure feels good.o)

yes, of course, with the long view, absolutely we need to be cognizant, along with the fact that everything we do, like it or not, invariably reflects on the Doc.

But frankly, there's no way in hell, at least speaking for me, I can live up to the genteel and cordial demeanor of the Doc.) lol

Though, in our own individual ways, I myself try to be conscious of it.

But, occasionally, I press the Dark Side of the Sith button, even if it's temporary.D

But hey, if our 'worst' is rooting for a fellow R3VOL pointing out an obvious con, cheat, fraud, and propaganda spread by a murderous RINO neoCon? I'd say we're doing pretty well.

Ha, yes living up to Ron's example is quite the tall order

I don't know how he does it sometimes. I just know that turning an enemy is better than destroying one, because you gain an ally. Persuading minds is more important than making points.

The young woman was called out, as she should've been. Her error and offense should be acknowledged but at that point you must allow the person to either apologize or save face. An apology is good. Allowing a person to save face can be even better, because then they owe you one. As you can see in this video the girl was looking for an opportunity to save face or possibly shift the blame. She felt attacked and cornered. When this happens people naturally turn defensive, shut down all rational thought and fight even if they know they're wrong. It looked like she was willing to discuss and admit a mistake if there was one, but when she wasn't allowed to the opportunity to turn her into an ally was almost lost. The apology on Ken's part at the end was commendable and the conversation ended respectfully so not all was lost.

He had every right to call her out for what she did, but if you want any good to come of it, you must allow someone an escape. The lion that allows the mouse to go free may find that mouse return in time to help pull the thorn out of its paw, as the old story goes. She would definitely be more careful and deferential to what she prints about Ron Paul or his supporters next time if she knew they're actually calm rational, thoughtful considerate people. If she feels we're all bitter, vengeful people who bite others heads off she may not be so fair in her coverage.

Just food for thought as we go out trying to win people to our cause :)

Blogger's contention that she

Blogger's contention that she presented unbiased info is laughable on its face.

"Descent" and "madness" are perjorative, negative terms, period, that she used to describe the going-on at the convention in her video blog. Then she immediately connected the dots to "Ron Paul supporters" and PRESTO guilt by associattion.

An unbiased report would have been more along the lines of "a floor fight broke out as attendees rose points of order that were ignored by the chair" with no mention of whose supporters were doing what.

However, she did make a good point toward the end of the video shot on the sidewalk outside of the convention center, if Ron Paul supporters are going to "be mean to her" she is less likely to present their case in a postive light. That's an OK feeling for an unpaid blogger to express, but if Ms. Maher is a paid professional journalist, she just explained why she's a bad professional jouralist, ie, her lack of professionalism in being unable to separate her objectivity from the animosity toward her expressed by the subjects of her report.

OTOH, that IS something that Ron Paul supporters need to be cognizant of, the dangers of antagonizing the media.

Amusing contrasts in the vid: the Casper Milquetoast self-identified Parliamentarian (perhaps that's why things got out of line, a toothless parliamentarian?); and the Ken-doll Captain-of-the-football-team Yacht-club central casting Young Republican guy who had "Establishment" tatooed on his forehead.

bingo.

but "However, she did make a good point toward the end of the video shot on the sidewalk outside of the convention center, if Ron Paul supporters are going to "be mean to her" she is less likely to present their case in a postive light."

that only proves that most 'grownups' like Maher, don't really emotionally mature beyond high school insecurities.

Like OMG, stop being mean to me, or I won't kiss your ass!

To be more specific, of course we ALL have insecurities. Like the very ability to bleed, insecurity is just part of the human condition, like emotion; no different than being physically defined as being a biped having two arms and two legs. It's just part of us.

But as grownups, it's what one does with it and how one manages them, like fear and anxiety, that makes the difference. They are never gonna be zero fear and anxiety, just levels/range of it.

The entire time that she was responding to Ken, all I'm reminded of was a bickering girl in the HS cafeteria, or some geek trying to hang with the 'cool girls' and found her 'lessers' at the nerd table to pick on.

Hey, every slave seeks a 'subordinate' to rule over, to make her/his own condition tolerable.

In fact they even made a movie about it; where an oppressed nerd out of self-hatred picks on another nerd who's trying to be sympathetic to her own woes: Welcome to the Dollhouse.

LOL

Multiply Weiner x 310,000,000 and you have Amerika. A society full of emotional dolts who never outgrew high school cliques, insecurities, and indoctrination coupled with various range and longing for approval from authority figures: aka, mind of a brainwashed Statist.
