Paul compares campaign to American Revolution at rain-soaked rally

(Front page of our local online news site.)

"In our early history, we had a major undertaking overthrowing an empire," Paul said. "And in some ways that is what we are doing now."

What does this mean?

At the end of the speech, Paul handicapped the presidential race.

Seriously, I don't get the above statement...

It is because Paul said that

It is because Paul said that No matter what, and the reporter is seeing that Dr. Paul is accepting the idea that he might not win; and this is a no no. Because, in communications or effective speaking you never hint that you might not get what you're trying to get, i.e. the Presidency, in this case. It has to do with undermining motivation which is taught in communications and effective speaking classes. I don't necessarily buy into that, because RP supporters are a different breed, but new comers and potential supporters may become dismayed by that kind of statement and lose interest.

There are two quotes of Dale Carnegie's which are applicable here:

“When dealing with people, remember you are not dealing with creatures of logic, but creatures of emotion.”

“There are four ways, and only four ways, in which we have contact with the world. We are evaluated and classified by these four contacts: what we do, how we look, what we say, and how we say it.”

The way I see it...

... What Dr. Paul was doing was providing assurance to his supporters that he is in this all the way to the National Convention. This is important, as the campaign pulling out before Tampa would leave financial contributors and those who are working so hard to become delegates feeling abandoned, which would damage the longer-term prospects of the Liberty Movement.

A Constitutional, Christian conservative who voted for Ron and stands with Rand

Not pulling out now for 3rd party is damaging

to the revolution as the platform crosses party lines versus sticking to gop is binding to the two party system with no outs.

the brokered convention is completely out of the question, so i'm not sure what the delegates are shooting for. a loss is a loss. so many candidates left the race when they saw they couldn't win with romney having over 30% to 40% of the gop vote at least.

I don't get that last

I don't get that last statement either...

"Handicapped ... the presidential race"

"The term is also applied to the practice of predicting the result of a competition, such as for purposes of betting against the point spread."
