Obama Says That 'War On Terror' Is Over - Now Can We Fire The TSA, Repeal The Patriot Act?

Mike Adams | Natural News

In an astonishing bit of unexpected news, a senior State Department official has announced, "The war on terror is over." This stems from the idea, reports the National Journal, that, "it is no longer the case, in other words, that every Islamist is seen as a potential accessory to terrorists."

That same official continues, "Now that we have killed most of al Qaida, now that people have come to see legitimate means of expression, people who once might have gone into al Qaida see an opportunity for a legitimate Islamism."

This is great news, isn't it? If the "War on Terror" is over, then we can repeal and reverse all the ridiculous police state laws that were put in place to protect us from terrorism... right?

I mean, can we now fire the TSA? They were only put in place after the "terror" attacks on 9/11. If the war on terror is over, the TSA is no longer needed (even if you assume they were effective at all, which they weren't).

Can we now repeal the Patriot Act which was passed out of an urgency to defend America from terrorists?

Will Obama nullify the NDAA that he recently signed, which uses the excuse of the "war on terror" to legalize secret arrests and the stripping of due process from all Americans?

Can we now deconstruct the DHS and fire Janet Napolitano who has become the (nauseating) face of "fear your neighbor" campaigns?

Gee, if the War on Terror is over, then can we stop with the DHS buying 450 million rounds of hollow point ammo and bulletproof roadside checkpoint booths? (http://www.naturalnews.com/035649_DHS_ammunition_domestic_wa...)

And can we stop with the flying robotic spy drones that have now been launched from 63 launch sites across the USA? (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2134376/Is-drone-nei...)

But no, of course.

My dad is one of those angry

My dad is one of those angry old guys who watch foxnews all the time and he swears Obama is soft on terror and also that he's clearly a Muslim. Can you imagine what foxnews would do if Obama declared the war on terror over and repealed all of the police state apparatus that Bush and he have worked so tierlessly to set up? O'Reilly would eat him alive.

utter foolishness

This, of course, is utter foolishness. Islamism is a religious ideological movement that brooks no real alternatives – so while the State Department proclaims “a legitimate Islamism,” it fails to acknowledge that Islamism, “legitimate” or not, is deeply intolerant of any other modes of expression. Not only that, but Islamism works hand-in-glove with terror groups around the world. Simply because a regime does not openly house al Qaida does not mean that the regime doesn’t support al Qaida; just because a regime pretends at democracy doesn’t mean that it has real democratic values.

I'm not sure what you're

I'm not sure what you're referring to as utter nonsense? Are you suggesting the right wouldn't pounce on Obama and denounce him as soft on terror if he tried to dismantle the patriot act or NDAA?

I was quoting an article from foxnews

They did exactly what you said they would.

Sorry, I misunderstood.

Sorry, I misunderstood.

Obama, The Deceptor

He cries out against suppressing freedom of speech and liberties in Libya, Syria, and other Arab Spring countries but signed NDAA and supports the Patriot Act, TSA, and the various cybersecurity bills.

Repeal it ALL.

Every last vestige of it.

It was never needed to begin with, and it sure isn't wanted now.
