Washington Times Says Huck 1st To Want End to Birthright
citizenship? I've just sent a letter to the articles author. I think he needs to hear from us on this one. I dont mind smearing of Dr Paul if you have facts but this type of shoddy journalism is bullshit
mY letter below

Dr. Paul has taken heat from candidates (such as Mike Huckabee) for wanting strict control of the borders and wanting to end birthright citizenship. Despit the fact he's done this and you contend that "...no other major candidate has propsed this". Are you drinking the kool aid sir?
Ending birthright citizenship has been Ron Pauls platform since the beginning of this campaign. I expect better from journalists such as yourself
Here's your attempt at journalism

Here's Ron's most recent ad from which Mike Huckabee stole his "new" idea.

Here's an article by CBS showing how Huckabee is actually plagarizing Ron's platform

Vice President
Looks like Huckabee wants to be Ron Paul's VP.
Don't even joke
That was not funny
Screenshot of Huck's website
could people go qickly to Huck's website and make screen shots of his immagration policy. He makes no mention of birthright citizenship on his site. I'm unable to do this right now.

Let old Huck spin and spin....
I'm sure some of Ron Paul's staffers are documenting this stuff, and the lies will come back to haunt him.
alan laney
Not so sure
The official campaign seems to have it's head completely up it's ass.
Ron Paul supporters need RED MEAT.
Call a press conference and call Huckabee a FRAUD.
We will support you, you will get a lot of media attention, and you will expose the truth.
The documentation truth will always win over lies.
Kent Snyder you are one inept son of a bitch. Quit now.
Author has a blog page where you can send comments
I embedded Ron Paul's immigration ad into an email and sent it to the author of the article, Stephen Dinan. At the Washington Times web site, I noticed that he has a blog page. Comments under one of his articles might be in order.
http://video1.washingtontimes.com/dinan/
sSend a screen shot
of RP immagration policy from his web site and the same from Huck's web site.

Huckabee
is a parrot. Tell him, " Polly wants a cracker." and chances are he'll repeat it.

I understand the economics
I understand the economics of this issue, and where Dr. Paul stands, but strict Libertarians are against this.

Thanks for posting
The first thing I saw this morning after I woke up was the Washington Times article. To say the least I was sick at my stomach when I saw how Huckabee stood there and did a 180 on immigration and lied by all of a sudden saying he was the only candidate that was against birthright citizenship.
How can these other candidates change their positions day after day just to get votes from the American people?? Is controlling this country that important to them? Huckabee is one of the scariest candidates that I have ever in my life seen and I'm in my 50's and have seen them all. If you think Bush is bad, he is a walk in the park compared to Huckabee.
Ron Paul's campaign needs to respond to this WT article because if they don't, they will let Huckabee's lies, mistruths and deceit continue and we the people will lose if Americans believe Huckabee and he wins.
"If the world is a dangerous place to live, it is not because of the people who are evil....But because of the good people who don't do anything about it" --Albert Einstein
Huckabee publicly denounced this
It looks like it was just something he told Gilchrest to get the minutemen support.

5% of people make things happen
10% of people watch things happen
85% say "What happened?"
Jim Gilcrist is a joke!
Most of the minutemen hate him and some of them went to Iowa counter-campaign gilcrest and Huck. www.immigrationwatchdog.com has a video of that fool explaining the he is endorsing Huck because he was the only candidate who would return his call! LOL
"Dr. Paul has taken heat from candidates (such as Mike Huckabee)
Is there any evidence of this? If you can find it that would make very good ammunition.
Call them.. You can..
You can actually be transfered to stephen dinen's desk. He even gives out his alternate number (cell). I left a very nice message for him regarding the inaccuracy of some points in his story.
Get off the computer and get some personal time... call him up

I just sent the author of the article an email
I told her she was wrong, explained to her why, and told her what Huckabee is doing. I also explained how she could find a better story by looking into Mike Huckabee adopting RP's policies and theme to his campaign.
If you have time, send her a quick email about her article. Please be polite( I was).
not a big issue
I'm perfectly happy with "birth right" citizenship because, since I'm pro-life, and furthermore, because the constitution talks about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, I only get more giddy when I think that the only condition to be a US citizen was being born on US soil; Thus, in unity with future generations, and in accordance with the constitution, others born on US soil should have that privilege even if their parents, unlike mine, weren't.
Please dont miss the point
I dont care about the issue I care about the plagarism of Ron's platform being spun to seem like Huck came up with it. Pls fwd a letter to the media sources shown below.
thnx

Clearly...
you don't live in a city overrun with illegal aliens.
Nothing wrong
Really there is nothing wrong with offering citizenship easily, when you consider by the constitution all this gets you is basic human rights. The States need to be able to issue their own criteria for obtaining state provided welfare, and the federal government needs to get out of welfare. If the states could determine eligibility such as they determine eligibility for college aid by proving you've lived there so many years, I don't see the problem with it providing citizenship to all.
"second class citizenship"
the problem is "second class citizenship." people want immigrants for their cheap labor but, additionally, want to treat them like slaves.
I agree with Rudy Gullianni (and I rarely do) that it's cruel and unusal punishment not to educate immigrants and, not only that, if you don't educate immigrants, then society has to bear the costs of free health care, housing, etc... since society decided to let an "economically irrelavent" group to grow.
as Ron Paul noted, "it's important to make decisions based on economics, not politics" and forcing a 5 year old to "become eligible for education via a waiting period" is-- as I said, not only a creul but it's a receipe for economic disaster in the future.
so, of course, I agree with Ron Paul that communitees need to give immigrants full economic rights because, otherwise, the communittees will fail.
we're all illegal
We're all illegal unless you're a Native American. i.e. Telling 12 million folks they have to leave is difficult and telling 300 million they have to leave is even more difficult.
My city is south Minneapolis and the immigrants (Somalis, Mexicans, Egyptians, etc...) make my life more interesting and they're also revitalizing my neighborhood and driving out the drug dealers!
The Mexicans that I know have big hearts and an unbelievable work ethic. And, when people tell me that the US government should bail out the bursting housing bubble, I tell them about the Mexican families who rent a house and live one family per bedroom!
Since I've see how much they contribute to my community, I've taken the challenge to learn Spanish and I enjoy talking with them because they talk about dreams and struggle instead of commercialized sporting events and pointless TV.
The message of Ron Paul is one of liberty and that means if we bring in Mexicans for their labor, they should have full economic rights.
The reason to have a "protected border," my opinion, is to ensure that immigrants live under the same constitution that we do! The problem we have now is that corporations make money through "labor arbitrage" and that's what has to be challenged!
States like Kansas and Maine, for example, have written "we'd love immigrants to come here because our populations are dwindling!"
Caution
By all means send a polite note of correction to the WT. They should expect to get these any time they make any mistake in reporting on any subject.
But don't push this story as if trying to get credit for it. There's no point, because ending birthright citizenship is not in the president's control, anyway. It's also one issue I disagree with. I got my citizenship by being born here, and probably so did you. (Please don't explain it to me.)
This is not a major issue. The real point to take away and spread is that Ron Paul's ideas are so good that even his opponents come around.

I sent a letter too
No comment function on that article so I sent a letter earlier. Later I noticed Reuters put out an article "Other Candidates Parrot Dr. Paul's Message of Liberty & Limited Government". http://www.reuters.com/article/pressRelease/idUS182557+07-Ja...
Ron Paul talking about this in October of 2006 at least
The following site has proof he wrote about this topic at least a year ago. A few more minutes of searching could probably bring up earlier quotes. http://www.ronpaullibrary.org/document.php?id=480

See my post on turning a Huckabee strength into a weakness. :-o

I don't like being self-referential, but I think it's important
Here's the link to the topic, which includes a link to you tube of Huckabee talking about tracking people.
http://www.dailypaul.com/node/22913
How do you track without biometric IDs or RFID? How do you only track immigrants and not citizens? Or is it immigrants today and citizens tomorrow? Isn't that opening a door to the "mark"? And wouldn't Evangelicals be opposed to that? To the point of death?
oops
double post, sorry
