'Ron Paul Wins Washington, On Track to Be Nominated at 2012 GOP Convention'

I know this article is written pretty optimistically in favor of Dr. Paul, but still! I loved seeing the headline and reading an article in favor of him. It's very encouraging and makes me not want to lose hope!

The Ron Paul “delegate strategy” seems to be working. And he could very well be nominated at the Republican National Convention in Tampa in late summer.

Wow. Twist.

The Texas libertarian has based his entire 2012 presidential campaign on the ability to win over state delegates — rather than winning the popular vote. To do this, Paul has utilized an extensive grassroots campaign network to influence local officials, who in turn would influence the higher-up officials. Until recently, this strategy had shown only limited results: the ground-level Paul delegates had not been able to immediately influence the wider state delegate situation. Now, though, caucus states like Washington, Minnesota, and Iowa — each with a complicated system of “bound” and “unbound” delegates — are nominating their delegates to the GOP national convention in Tampa. And the Paul ground game is starting to work, but with some institutional backlash.

'Ron Paul Wins Washington, On Track to Be Nominated at 2012 GOP

People are Now starting to understand the meaning of what Ron Paul has been telling us it is the delegates that count not the votes! The people can have a voice even in the most corrupted elections if the people just stand by there man,, All of us know delegates that are forced to vote for one of the other candidates in the first vote.At the convention but do they really have to vote or can they abstain ? now I hear the status quo talking about Harding if you look back to that election. you can see and understand that it has been the plan all along.....the way things look now Ron Paul is doing better at this point in the primary season then future President Harding was doing. Nothing is over until its over.

As an elected delegate to the Washington State Convention...

...I will be there with bells on my toes and ready for a fight.

I am so proud of my district (The 11th in King County). The Ron Paul Slate got ALL 16 Delegate AND 16 Alternate positions!

But believe me, it's not just my district. It's happening all over in Washington State.

Obviously we haven't won yet, because our state convention is in late May.

BUT WE'RE GOING TO WIN - Or damn near die trying.

It's going to be an unmitigated HELL-FIGHT at the Washington State Convention.

We're going ALL-OUT for Dr. Paul, and I'm very confident - due to the intillegence and principled nature of the Ron Paul supporters here - that Washington State will PREVAIL.

I am PROUD to be among them!

Hi Pawn... We had one district in MInnesota where we won

one delegate, but if all our troops would have showed up at that district convention we would have won a few more.

Make sure you call all your folks in your district to show up. Also see if you can do any help by calling others in their districts to show up at the convention.

Did Washington have any congressional district conventions to elect delegates to the National Convention?

I believe the election of delegates to the National Convention

...happens at our State Convention in late May.

So far we have had Precinct Caucuses and District/County caucuses.

We have a Republican County convention this Saturday which is more about platform issues and committee positions.

The big one is in May where we will elect delegates to the Tampa Convention.

Thanks for all your efforts,

Thanks for all your efforts, you've done a very good job in Washington.

I have written this before, but it does not hurt to write it again: The key is keeping Dr. Paul in the race all the way to Tampa, and it will happen, you will be there and you will win again.

I don't think all of us know how big and important this election is, but let me say that it's the only one of its kind.

With Newt Gingrich out of the race,

it makes things even better for Dr. Paul, in my opinion.

I think a 1 vs 1 Romney vs Paul debate would be GREAT to watch.

1. NEVER give up or let the bastards grind you down, freedom will ALWAYS win, make sure you are there when it does! We are gonna have a good time stretching those necks!!

2. Don't waste effort or mental energy. Do today those things that make the most impact. In states where it matters. Door to door sounds good but I can call 400 people before you get off your block. Not a complaint or criticism, just opinion. But don't forget: we must always be DOING SOMETHING!!!!

3. Has nobody noticed how much Romney sounds like "Zombie" ? There are way too many cult fans out there to not be seeing some good graphics here!!!

4. We ARE winning, have NO doubt!

5. I'm without computer right now but how about a website that we can pledge to vote for no other candidate but "honest Ron" so the sheer numbers of our rEVOLution can be counted? I think it would go like wild fire. If done right, verifiable, and auditable, could it not possibly outmaneuver the voting machines? It would be easier to get people to make an online pledge than to physically jump through estBlishment hoops and "vote" How about an online "VOTING" revolution? Just a thought.

I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility to every form of tyranny over the mind of man.

After winning the majority of delegates in 5 states...

"his supporters could then attempt to nominate him from the floor"

Could someone explain to me what the author of this piece meant by this line? Is he referring to the second and further rounds of voting in the event of a brokered convention? Or is this some other republican nomination proceeding that exists?

He is just referring to...

the Ron Paul delegate effort in general.

A candidate needs five states in order to be eligible for nomination which means delegates can't vote for Ron Paul until he gets five states.

Washington Delegate Process

I am pretty sure all 40 of Washington's unbound national delegates are chosen during the state convention. CDs will vote separate for 3 delegates each (10 CDs = 30 delegates) and the other 10 delegates will be voted on by all state delegates. The convention is two days and I'm not sure what day CDs vote. Friday June 1st I think while the last 10 will be chosen Saturday June 2nd.

Yes

That's my understanding as well...

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

We'll need to eddicate our friends

Especially those who are not Ron Paul supporters about how important AND LEGAL these delegates are.

Thanks to Ron Paul, WE know that bypassing the popular vote and going for delegates is totally legal and is our best defense against fraud and simply being squashed by opponents with lots of money. But the average citizen believes that the popular vote is the end all, be all of this "democracy." They will see this winning over of delegates as a form of cheating.

I would hate for Ron Paul to win the nomination only to be painted as a cheater in the eyes of the general public. So lets go out of our way to let people know that winning through getting a large number of delegates is completely legal AND our protection against fraud and bullying.

"Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle is always a vice." -- Thomas Paine

But who CARES if Ron Paul

But who CARES if Ron Paul gets even 10 times the number of delegates that he "earned" with the popular vote? Are you going to be happy with second place now?

Ron Paul getting a couple dozen delegates over the last couple weekends doesn't mean anything when Romney will likely get over 200 from last night alone.

Troll

Who pays you with those lame Federal Reserve Digital Notes?

Hahaha I thought it was

Hahaha I thought it was spelled "human" ejamacate. Darn Arkansas public school system!

eddicate?

eddicate?

I did that on purpose

Just because it was fun to deliberately misspell "educate" into the way some people pronounce it. It came across the wrong way, I guess.

Don't feel bad...

Blind people don't appreciate sight gags very much. And this was more of a joke based on sound, while print is a visual medium. :-)

Why that headline ISN'T mere wishful thinking.

it is ABSOLUTELY POSSIBLE.

RP Delegates

Posted on April 25, 2012 by Lew Rockwell

Writes Eric Garris:

Last night, Ron got 4 delegates from Rhode Island based on his showing of 24%.

Ron got 5 delegates from Pennsylvania. The presidential primary last night was a non-binding beauty contest. Concurrently, unpledged delegates ran in each congressional district. It is up to the campaigns to tell the voters which delegate candidates are pledged to which presidential candidates. Ron Paul delegates won 5 of those seats. I don't know the details of how they did that.

The Green Papers now shows Ron with 85 firm delegates.

=========================================

Hey guys. We go through this EVERY SINGLE F'ng stolen RINO primary/caucus night. We all know the voting is rigged, at the least heavily manipulated. Then we're all 'WTF! How could they! OMG it's over!' Then, reality sets in, no, not 'that' one, the REAL one: delegates.

Then, we all wake up a few hrs after, and go: 'Dr. Paul, ya sly 'ol Fox! Your stealth delegate strategy is GENIUS!'

Press repeat, await next election night. Restart the emotional roller coaster, again, and again, and again, and again.

LOL

Delegates, Delegates, Delegates. That's the ONLY reality that matters, until beyond Tampa.

Frankly, even in the worst case scenario, we only really need to lock up FIVE states for us to have a chance at the Tampa Convention: from the looks of it, NOT to rest on our laurels, but at current trajectory, seems IA, NH, MN, NV, WA, CO may be ours.

Of course, we MUST show up and WIN and NEVER rest until the final delegates to Tampa are selected.

So keep on fighting.

Y'all know that we're up against the entire ginormous RINO status quo who are all NWO Wall St. Mil. Ind. Complex lackeys.

No easy feat.

But, grander things have happened in history with a single spark.

Just one idea. One good idea. That's all it took.

Just think, in our Founder's day, outright overt and covert tyranny were the norm, and no one's ever heard of the mere concept of self-governance then. Well, at least aside from pockets of it in some iteration of self-governance at tribal/familial/small commune levels, throughout recorded history 2000yrs prior to the founding of the Republic, and who knows, perhaps in the earliest of voluntaryist human societies unrecorded by his-story (remember victors write HIS Story, aka History).

So, like it or not, y'all are part of history!

Er... yeah, yeah, every generation is, technically as no one really has a choice in the matter to be excluded from temporal timeline, but you get the gist.D

So, as the Doc says so often: No Long Faces.

The Fight goes on!

Washington's Convention not until June 1

No delegates awarded except the three automatic delegates . . . all Romney most likely. That leaves 40.

Last time we checked, all of the crystal balls issued for the state of Washington are still in the shop, awaiting working parts.

Here's what I know about WA

Romney won the straw poll in Wahkiakum, Clark, and, Yakima counties but I have heard Paul supporters were elected as a majority of delegates in their recent county conventions.

At my precinct caucus for Skamania county, Paul won the straw poll with 52.5%. At county last Sat. with a combination of new former Santorum delegates, perhaps a few Romney no show delegates, and with more RP precinct delegates actually elected than the straw poll reflected, we had a clean sweep of all 3 state bound delegates and alternates by a majority of 66%. And with delegate grabs in King county, Washington State could very well end up going to Ron.

I'm confused...

...what is the actual delegate count right now for Washington?

The green papers has

16 Romney
10 Paul
10 Santorum
4 Gingrich

...but this adds up to 40, the total number for Washington. But only 30 should have been chosen so far. The other 10 are supposed to be chosen at the State convention, which isn't until June.

What's going on?

EDIT: It appears that the green papers figures are estimates based on the popular vote - the proportions line up. If so, then those numbers do NOT actually reflect the delegate selections made so far at legislative districts, let alone the State Convention which is yet to happen.

So, anyone have the complete legislative district results? They're all finished now, we should have the figures somewhere...?

EDIT2: Looks like I misunderstood the process in Washington. Turns out, the legislative district conventions held thus far elect delegates to go to State, not national delegates. At State, the whole body elects the 10 at-large national delegates, and the delegation from each LD elects their 3 national delegates. So we don't actually have ANY national delegate results yet - and won't until the State Convention at the end of May into early June.

I guess patience is a virtue.... : )

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

Delegates will be chosen at the State Convention

There is no way to tell as of yet what the outcome of that convention will be. Unless we knew for sure we are going into any one of the separate conventions there with a majority.

Thanks for the bumps everyone!

And thank you to whoever edited my post, I wasn't exactly sure how to do that.. but yes, definitely bump this and up vote it so we can get lots of people to see it!

EDIT: Yay! This is on the front page! Thanks everyone for the bumps and upvotes! Maybe we can get this even higher up on the page if it gets more upvotes.
