and hopefully most people do this, but I know that not everyone thinks to do that. It's better to just break it for those who don't understand why they should be typing it in themselves.

When the link is 'broken,' it forces everyone here to copy and paste the link into the URL themselves, rather than having the opportunity to click on it and be directed to the website.
The reason for this is because websites track where you come from. When you click on a link that is on a website, it is tracked back to the referring site. However, when you manually type a web address into your URL bar, it cannot be tracked. It makes sense from a business perspective. Who wouldn't want to know who is referring people (or, linking) to their website?
The reason why this is a problem for us is because of people like Bill O'Reilly, who accused us of 'blowing up' his polls, thus deeming them unacceptable and inaccurate. We don't want that to happen again, so the best way to avoid that is to 'break' the links so that they cannot track we are coming from.

Maybe if news agencies did their jobs like reporting on issues that mattered instead of just entertaining the sheeple the results would be significantly different. Not like the real stories are hard to find. TSA, NDAA, CISPA, The Fed...who the hell watches the evening news anymore? Drones. That who.

like this: "Should Ron Paul Continue to provide a Romney Alternative?"
you would have a different percentage.
This is why I hate polling. It only serves to manipulate, influence and distort.
