Deleted my Facebook account today...

I hope many more join me. Got a few emails from family and friends asking why my account was showing "deactivated". I explained it was a privacy issue and I no longer cared to be a part of the Matrix-like grid.

Me too

Deleted mine 6 months ago and haven't missed it. Got a Roku and got rid of TV also. Not going back.

a good thing to do

Not only will your "likes" and every last whereabout and preference be harder to track, but your friends won't be as tempted to post inappropriate things which reference you. I found that apeshit bored family members posting inappropriate crap was the most bothersome aspect of the whole experience.

i would do it..

but the only reason i'm holding on to mine is that it really is a good way to keep in touch.

there were old friends in other countries which i had lost touch with but now we're re-connected because of facebook.

My was supposedly scheduled

My was supposedly scheduled for deletion months ago and is still up..

Nice

I utilized facebook for about two years to expose sheepy "friends" to liberty (and pwn some liberal posts on the side). After a while I realized it was becoming too time consuming and detrimental to my own well-being. I decided to be content with "waking up" about 6 people at this point and deleted. I have been much more happy ever since.

Deactivating vs Deleting an account

Deactivating a fb account is different then deleting it....If you deactivate you can reactivate at any time....If you delete - supposedly it's permanent....although you can bet your bottom dollar that your data stays there for who knows how long...maybe forever...

I hope a website crops up to where folks pledge to delete fb accounts...and opt out of other corporate data mining bullcrap...

Actually, I believe they

Actually, I believe they state it as taking 60 days for it to be deleted. Something about to make sure crimes arnt covered up or some dumb excuse.
I once signed up for facebook a long while back. I didnt do anything with it though, so I got rid of it.

I've known for a long

time that it's monitored, and i'm assuming that I'm on a at least a few lists. So, I'll keep mine open for the sole purpose of educating the sheeple. Why cower down now, especially after the NSA stuff is now common knowledge?

What is there to fear, you should use their own tool against them.

Agreed.

Facebook is a great way to sneak in some thought provoking ideas to the masses.

I think that it would be more accurate to say that you deleted your access to your Facebook page, but nothing was really deleted.

Absolutely true, but for someone like me who used it often it is afeeling to eliminate it from my daily life.

If somebody

could help a not so tech guy delete his , it would be much appreciated.
I never completed the sign up process because by the time i got to step three it creeped me out. By step three of the sign up process It was sending me emails saying i might know people who i haven't spoken to in 25+ years and even had people on there across the country i had ONLY done business with once.
It still sends me email everyday but i don't know how to get rid of it. AGAIN any help would be appreciated..Thanks...

I hate FACEBOOK!!! BUT

I have an account. I had shut it down back in 2007. Because of copyright concerns - anything you post on FACEBOOK is owned by FACEBOOK.

Then low and behold when I had to open an account BECAUSE I AM WRITING A BOOK AND THE PUBLISHERS WANT TO SEE THAT I HAVE A FAN BASE every single thing I had posted was still there from 3 years previous.

So if it makes you feel better great. It really is a total distraction. But just know its still there when you need it. GRRRRRRRRR....

Yup..

If you have a television.. get rid of it. Just use your computer.

My life is much more fulfilling without listening to a television or waiting for something to happen. The internet frees our minds to seek what we want to consume.

Facebook is flat out evil. I would be willing to bet there are a number of people in our government in kahoots with them. Even if not, I dont trust them.

I deactivated my account 3-4 months ago. I do use IG and Twitter, but not that much. DailyPaul is my hub. I do miss some friends on there and wish a networking site would come out that had a small charge, would remain steadfast in protecting our information and not have any ads at all. Ever.

Im ranting.. Good for you buddy. I don't blame you one bit!!

Deleted facebook account

I deleted my account last week. I also sent an e-mail to WOW asking how I could disable or remove the Google search engine window from my WOW home page.

It only takes one to KEEP AMERICANS FREE. Know your duties & rights as a juror. Stop the unconstitutional conviction of innocents in federal custody. The Fully Informed Jury CALL 1-800-TEL-JURY www.fija.org IMMEDIATELY if not sooner. It's that important.

Don't wait for wow.

That sounds like just a browser setting. Poke around there. or maybe View -> Toolbars -> then uncheck that one. What browser are you using? Last case, just download and reinstall your browser.

I agree with the privacy issue

Up until a few months ago I never used Facebook because I didn't want to share every personal detail about my life, and I doubt my friends cared to hear it. But I ended up signing up for an account without any real personal info just to promote the "In It To Win It" MoneyBomb. I never planned on adding "friends" but kept getting requests from other Paul supporters as I went. It was then a lot easier to get out info about the "Rise For Liberty" MoneyBomb.

I still won't use it to post any info about myself, but it's a great tool for sharing news and videos, info about liberty candidates, and organizing for elections/conventions. And it's a way to reach new people who aren't already visiting sites like the Daily Paul.

WearsMyLiberty.com - Liberty shirts and Ron Paul shirts to spread the message

This is the only reason i

This is the only reason i would consider resigning, even then, i think ill wait and give the free market its opportunity, should it ever come, i should think there should be a market demand for it, the ability to communicate world wide, with a strong sense of liberty freedom at its very foundation, unwavering, for the people, by the people

I am still waiting, and ready to expect "opposition" to it, in the form of censoring, lobying, demonizing, slandering, preventive laws which are not laws, in a free world, shills, voter fraud.

Not for the people running it, but for what a tool like that can accomplish, true individualism

Maybe its already here but unoticed, or maybe it is still to come, or maybe i should not hold my breath, i dont know......but it feels good to have that hope

I didn't think you could

delete a FaceBook acct like that. I was told by admin that the only way to delete mine was to not post on it for a period of time and it would be de-activated.

fiddle dee dee

I don't get Facebook

Why do people want to put all that personal info on there?
