Newt's bogus campaign is costing taxpayer money

From the New York Times:

Gingrich Is Quitting the Race (Just Give Him a Little Time)
By MARK LEIBOVICH

"...'I am learning about cars,' Mr. Gingrich explained to a lone reporter on the fringe of an entourage that otherwise included local Republican officials, Penske executives and about 12 people wearing earpieces..."

"...In financial terms, it costs taxpayers about $40,000 a day to pay for Mr. Gingrich’s Secret Service detail. His campaign was $4.3 million in debt as of the end of March, according to filings. There is also the intangible cost to Mr. Gingrich’s stature and the threat to party unity behind the inevitable nominee, Mitt Romney — whom, Mr. Gingrich says, he will support and campaign for..."

"Thanks for the story, especially the Secret Service part and what it costs the taxpayer.

Now you can write a story about Ron Paul who declined Secret Service protection, because he considers it a personal expense. His campaign is $2 million in the black.

He also does not participate in the Congressional pension scheme. He argues that it is not the taxpayers' role to take care of his retirement. He has never gone on a junket. He returns a significant part of his Congressional budget to the Treasury every year, as does his son, Rand Paul.

Whereas Newt struggles to find a crowd, Ron Paul has spoken to crowds ranging from 1,200 (El Paso) to 6,000 (UC Berkeley campus) the past month. No matter where he goes thousands attend, even in the driving rain as was the case on Sunday in Philadelphia

Don't believe the media's delegate count - way off. This guy, Ben Swann, is doing the job for the Fourth Estate by informing the public about the true delegate count:

While it is good that he is

While it is good that he is not taking a pension, his reasoning is just plain stupid and insulting to anyone who GETS a pension. Any intelligent person knows that pensions are NHOT free money from your employer (whether it is private of government work)

If someone gets a job that gives a pension, then they are effectively agreeing to accept less money EVERY WEEK for their ENTIRE career in exchange for the pension. If your job pays you $60,000 a year and offers you a pension, then your employer obviously values your work at more than $60,000 a year.

Employees pay INTO the pension system. That is why if your job offers you a pension after 20 years on the job, and you quit after 15 years...you don't LOSE everything. You get a one time payment based on what you have paid into the pension fund.

Not if you believe...

... that your employer (a ward of the taxpayer) offers a far too generous pension that sticks it to the taxpayers. Only Ron Paul would think of the pain of the taxpayer and turn it down. Only Ron Paul would treat a patient for free rather than take Medicare. That is is the genius of the man. Irreproachable. That is why he so beloved among the millions of all shades and sizes. There is just one Ron Paul. Only once in a lifetime.
