Massachusetts 5th District Delegates All Go To Ron Paul!

Guys big news!

I'm at the Massachusetts 5th congressional district presidential caucuses and the Ron Paul slate just won the 3 delegates for this district!! (100 votes for Paul vs 50 for the Romney slate). Major disappointment for the Romney campaign in his own back yard! (Belmont is in the Massachusetts 5th)

We won the 3 alternates too.

The Romney campaign people don't look very happy about this!

Unbind Yourselves?

This is just a thought and might not even be able to be done since all the states are so different in their party rules .... but

Have you considered that the rules for the State GOP are set at State GOP conventions. This means that if your state rules bind the delegates, the only time that rule can be changed is when all you guys attend the state convention. If there is a plurality of Ron Paul people, then does it not follow that the majority of people there can vote a new rule making your state delegates unbound?

It just seems that I see lots of people talking about abstaining when really they could get an alternate to vote for you. Actually changing your status to unbound might be a way to go. This isn't just for MA btw, could not this be done in all other sticky places such as Alaska.

clarification - the "Ronald Regan Unity Liberty Slate" won

Hi guys. sorry i was a bit brief when i relayed my initial field report - i was typing on my phone!

This morning at the caucuses held in Framingham, the Romney Campaign had an official slate of delegates that they wanted to elect to represent him at the convention. Remember: Romney won the primary back on super tuesday here in Massachusetts, so today's caucuses were for picking *who* gets the honor of being Romney's delegates.

The campaign played a video from Anne Romney asking for people to support the Official Romney slate of candidates and alternates.

However, there was this other slate of candidates, which had the fantastic name of: "The Ronald Regan Liberty Unity Slate" (it was basically made up of 6 Ron Paul supporters), and they ended up running away with the 3 delegate spots and the 3 alternates spots for this congressional district! The Ronald Regan Liberty Unity Slate got 100 votes vs. 50 votes for the official romney slate, and won by even wider margins for the alternates.

We shouldn't discount the significance of what happened today - that it happened in Mitt Romney's back yard!! (Belmont, where he lives, is part of this district) - he can't even get 50 people to show up to vote for his delegates? Crazy! and believe me, the Romney people who were there were just livid... even if this doesn't get reported in the media, Mitt's will know that his official delegates didn't get elected. There were paid staffers from the national campaign at the event.

The Paul campaign has been the exact opposite. they called a few times, sent email instructions with specific instructions. They deserve a lot of credit!! Great job everyone.

How do we defeat the MSM

...and let the world know that Mitt's hometown region went RON PAUL!?!?

This is delicious and needs to go viral!

STOP ALL THE MISINFORMATION

OK GUYS---I was a delegate candidate for district 1. I actually may or may not have won a delegate spot (depending on provisional ballot totals...soon to be determined).

We are NOT RON PAUL DELEGATES. WE are "ROMNEY" delegates, technically. WE HAVE TO VOTE FOR MITT ROMNEY ON THE FIRST ROUND. BUT! At a BROKERED CONVENTION, we become unbound, and can THEN VOTE OUR CONSCIENCE. Just want to make sure people understand this. Not to be a DOWNER but we must be realistic about this.

Simply Put - A "Bound" or "Pledged" Delegate Is Comparable To

A Politician Who Makes A Promise To Vote A Particular Platform Once Elected To Office...Essentially a campaign promise... In the end you cannot force a delegate to vote one way or another whether it's first ballot, second ballot, whatever ballot. Your Vote=Your Right. It's called VOTING RIGHTS!!! As delegates we simply are exercising our voting rights. Also the Bill Of Rights addresses the issue of binding and supersedes the election code, see below:

The Fifteenth Amendment (Amendment XV) to the United States Constitution prohibits each government in the United States from denying a citizen the right to vote based on that citizen's "race, color, or previous condition of servitude" (for example, slavery). It was ratified on February 3, 1870.

servitude
Part of Speech: noun
Definition: slavery
Synonyms: bondage, bonds, chains, confinement, enslavement, obedience, peonage, serfdom, serfhood, subjection, subjugation, thrall, thralldom, vassalage, yoke

pledge
Part of Speech: noun
Definition: sign of good faith
Synonyms: bail, bond, collateral, deposit, earnest, gage, guarantee, guaranty, pawn, security, surety, token, warrant, warranty
pledge

bound
Part of Speech: adjective
Definition: obligated; destined
Synonyms: apprenticed, articled, bent, bounden, certain, coerced, compelled, constrained, contracted, doomed, driven, duty-bound, enslaved, fated, firm, forced, having no alternative, impelled, indentured, intent, made, necessitated, obligated, obliged, pledged, pressed, required, restrained, sure, under compulsion, under necessity, urged

According to the Bill Of Rights "Bounding" or "Pledging" to effectively limit voting Is Unconstitutional and therefore Unlawful and Unenforceable or Null And Void if written into the election code or any other code...

The GOP is Not the Government

As a private membership organization, it is not bound by the 15th Amendment in any way.

Thankfully, courts have upheld the rights of individuals to form organizations, and to create rules for themselves, to support candidates, and so, forth. It's a voluntary organization, so you either work from within it, or quit it, but you don't want the elected officials to use force on it.

You/They are GOP delegates to the national convention

and those are the rules that apply in Tampa. The fact that you are "bound" to Romney means that you cannot vote for any person other than Mittens on the first ballot. "Abstain" is not a person but, it is your option to exercise, if you so choose, for as many ballot rounds you want.

Great Job!

I had to work today but I went past Framingham town hall about 8:30am as they were putting up Romney signs on every square inch of sidewalk LOL...thank you all you Ron Paul Patriots that voted today and swept MA CD5!

I was at the 3rd district and

I was at the 3rd district and we won all 3 delegates as well. Unfortunately, all of Mass's delegates are bound to romney anyway

Then they just need to

Then they just need to Abstain in the first round :)

Shock and Awe!!

Yeah I bet the Romney campaign didn't see that coming either. Keep up the fight and hit'm hard!. Good job Massachusetts!

The Constitution stands as a model of cooperative statesmanship and the art of compromise.

Local News

Let's get this covered by the local news. Write to NECN, Fox25, Globe, Herald, anyone who will listen. This is big news and should be reported to the masses.

Woohoo!

Nice going, great job Massachusetts!

Colchester, New London County, Connecticut

6 th district results here. We did GREAT !!!

We did VERY well today.

There is a question on the delegate count though

239 ballots

117 Ed Romback - Ron Paul

115 state rep Tarr for Mitt

114 Berz and Bolling tied. BOTH are Paulittes.

109 Jones - state rep and for Mitt

108 Kerry Healy - former lt. Govt for Mitt

8 Schwartz.

The bummer is due to the tie (for third) there were 7 provisional ballots. They will be counted in a few days for the tie purposes. And that could change the election results a bit. My math shows that we will still have 2 delegates regardless. Now we can only hope that most of those provisional votes are our people.

- - -- --

We took all the alternate slots. It was a BLOW OUT. Many of the Mitt supporters had left early. Hamilton, Kenney and Macdonald ALL WON.

- -- - -- - - -

Tied for 3rd with 1 vote,

1(!) freakin' vote keeping them from 2nd. Wow.

Nice job District 6! Thanks, overtaxed. Let us know how it turns out.

In MA District 5, there were

In MA District 5, there were 194 voters and each person got 3 votes.

For delegates, there were a total of 532 votes counted. All 3 delegates on the Ronald Regan Unity Liberty Slate won, with 102, 100, and 99 votes each. There were 9 others running for delegate (amongst the Romney slate and others), with 59, 52, 49, 27, 18, 9, 8, 8, and 1 vote each. Many establishment Republicans left unhappy after that.

For alternates, there were a total of 445 votes counted. All 3 alternates on the Ronald Regan Unity Liberty Slate also won, with 91, 88, and 86 votes each. There were 7 others running for alternate (amongst failed Romney delegates and others) with 52, 45, 44, 21, 9, 6, and 3 votes each.

Although all these delegates will have to represent Romney in the first round of voting, it was a good day for Ron Paul and the liberty movement in Framingham, MA!

P.S. I sat next to a RP coordinator who said similar results were coming in from other districts as well.

They may have to "represent Romney" in Tampa, first round,

but, they can ABSTAIN in the first round. One poster here got that right. The other poster has it wrong. They CAN abstain in accordance with the national GOP rules, which over rides state rules.

http://www.dailypaul.com/229408/yes-you-can-abstain

Yea!

Seems like good news is coming from all directions today! Go Liberty warriors!

let's all keep it up !!!

If Mitt does not sweep his own state... the GOP will surely notice

They noticed a long time ago.

The reason they don't publish is not because they are so densely unaware of reality. It is because they refuse to admit the truth. They are the mouthpiece of the special interests, owned lock, stock and barrel. IF they don't maintain the special interest distortion, omission, twisting, fabrication and generally arrogant, snotty attitude, employees get fired, and owners get de-licensed.

Very good news

to my ears.
