Victory in Alaska!

Updated: 7:45pm Alaska Time
It is confirmed that Ron Paul supporter Russ Millete was voted in as chair. (Note that according to AK Republican rules he will not have full power until Feb. 2013). Co-chair is RP supporter Deb Brown.

Also, secretary and treasurer are RP supporters.

The 6 delegates that were assigned to Ron Paul were filled by the top RP supporters that we wanted. Also, we got the 6 alternates.

The only bonus in the delegate count was that 3 RP people got in as alternates for the Santorum team.

Kathleen Miller (wife to Joe Miller, but an RP supporter - I can vouch personally for that) was selected as part of the electoral college (Alaska sends 3). I understand that is big.

As far as the meeting, the vote went ahead and as they waited for the results Reudrich abruptly adjourned the meeting citing they were out of time. They had not yet worked on final resolutions or voted on rule changes - things that the RP camp really wanted to do. So, there was business that didn't get done, but it was late and they are trying to get a meeting scheduled for June to implement some new rules - maybe get Reudrich out of power sooner.

All in all, a powerful moment for RP in Alaska!

[Original post] This just in from my husband, brazil4paul, who is a delegate at the Alaskan State Republican Convention!

We have taken over the Republican party in Alaska! The new Chair and Vice Chair are now both Ron Paul supporters! This just happened today, and I've been told thanks to some Santorum supporters who joined the cause.

Sweet victory in Alaska! Thank you to all the folks nation-wide who have kept up the encouragement and the plan to send delegates. Change is coming!

Unite the party?

I was one of the alt delegates attending the convention in Alaska. Establishment republicans spoke the whole time about how the party needs to unite. Ron Paul supporters followed all rules and did not resort to any tricks. They, on the other hand, tried many stuns.

Stunts like doing a secret meeting at 10 at night were rules were changed that had been in place for years. Later, an email surfaced from a “Ron Paul supporter” that talked about how we needed to use deception to win and spoke negatively about the other candidates. The governor even brought this up in a speech and Romney supporters had printed copies of the email on every table. It was later shown that the email was from an account created the day before from someone who was not attending. It was pretty much accepted it was a fake email due to the fact that it was sent to just about everyone but the Ron Paul supporters. The party chair abruptly adjourned the meeting before the rules committee could pass the vote to make the switch of power to the new chair happen instantly. Even the Romney supporters disagreed with that move. Finally he moved the entire Alaska GOP funds (100k) to the capital city republicans (still under establishment control) so that the new leaders won’t have access to it.

We followed the rules and won fairly, it is them who are trying to keep control at all costs. What happened to “We need to be unified no matter what.” What they really meant was, “we need you to stand behind us or go away.”

Spot on!

Couldn't have said it better myself, Mike!

Thank you for your dedication to the cause of Liberty!

I maintain a thread devoted to alternates, and I might want to cross-post to your account of the State Convention.

I am curious... Coming to the Convention as an alternate, were you able to fill an empty delegate slot? Did Santorum have a lot of "no shows"? Did our Liberty delegates tend show up? Did any of our people not show up because they could not afford the cost of attending? Thanks.

A Constitutional, Christian conservative who voted for Ron and stands with Rand

I am not totally sure as we

I am not totally sure as we are just shaking it all out but it appears that 60 delegates were bumped, saw the number on a rp fb page for ak. In my case I was listed as undeclared on the state web site. As well as everyone I found in my voting area that registered repub at the polls. All of us so far are listed as undeclared? Not possible but a common theme it seems. It seems that everyone who registered at the ppp all filled out their applications as undeclared? No way. No the delegates had a hard time getted seated as the meeting continued on and as I was out of the room trying to get seated as a delegate they passed the temporary roll even though the credencials committee still was meeting. I know my romney district chair moved from alt to delegate as well as his son who as far as I know did not attend the district convension. A Paul supporter didn't show and my removal opened the spots, convienient don't you think? My district chair actually stood up and said I should be removed form the room so I didn't vote! Romney people just did what they wanted it seemed? It was a dog fight.

I'm not going into detail here but I know we did better than it seems I saw people with santorum stickers on their coats that were at every rp meeting i was at but i don't think its good to talk about such things. I have more but mums the word, loose lips sink ships.

Government is supposed to protect our freedom, our property, our privacy, not invade it. Ron Paul 2007

I love it too and I love how the media blackout

is playing into the movement's hands. By the time they realize what has happened it'll be the convention and hopefully too late.

Well done everyone

A Small Thanks From New Zealand

Hi guys,

Congrats on Alaska! Just wanted to thank all you guys for what you're doing - if I could be bold enough to speak for the rest of the world.. we're behind you. And if we could vote in your election, RP would be in the White House for the rest of the century. I'm not going to rant or lecture, you guys know all this, but the rest of the world is heavily affected by what happens in the upcoming election. Many of our economies are tied to yours, as is our military. We really want to see you guys get rid of this Bush-Obama-Romney status quo cancer, and put forward a real leader.

Keep fighting, never give up. The world on YOUR side.

Mitch.

New Zealand?

Just out of curiosity, is there an Old Zealand? ;-)

But to get to the point, of all the elections I've been through (I'm sixty-mumble years old; I was in on AuH2O 64) this is the first time EVER that I've seen people in other countries support an American candidate!

I'm imagining the headline: "Ron Paul Wins Presidency - entire world heaves sigh of relief!"

Freedom is my Worship Word!

Zeeland (not Zealand) is a province in Holland, a coastal strip

Zeeland (not Zealand) is a province in Holland, a coastal strip bordering Belgium. It contains a number of islands and about half of its area is water - hence the name, meaning sea-land.

1642. New Zealand was named by the Dutch seafarer Abel Tasman as he was the first European to record the discover New Zealand, which he named 'Staten Landt' on his maps. He thought it was an island off Chile sighted in 1616. After realizing that islands were different, the Dutch mapmakers gave the archipelago the Latin name 'Nova Zeelandia' after the Dutch province. The Latin became the Dutch 'Nieuw Zeeland', which was in turn misspelled 'New Zealand' by the English explorer Captain James Cook.

...... sigh of relief

From the UK too! :-)

"Old" Zealand is in the Netherlands.

New Zealand is named after the westernmost province of the Netherlands — Zeeland. The English mistakenly thought it was named after the Danish island "Zealand" so it has been spelt that way ever since.

I'm from Germany and I suppor Ron Paul as well. The Cold war is over, I don't think Germany needs those US nukes and military bases on its soil anymore.

awesome

Its just awesome to know people around the world support Dr.Paul & see what needs to happen the 2012 election...Its time to cure America's cancer...

thanx mitch

that honestly means a lot

it weighs on my heart that so much of the world hates us for what are foreign policy engenders. Our people are good hearted, generous, and eager to help others. It kills me that the people we have in our gov't are so eager to go to war, tell others how to live, and force our selves through force on other nations. It is not what our founders would have wanted us to do.

Thank you for your quick comment of support.

I hope all is well in the land down under

I can't speak for everyone..

..but I get the feeling that the world is starting to wake up and realise that it's the Bush/Obama/Romney clone machine that's dragging the country down, not the regular citizen.

You could call us slow.. but honestly.. you guys have the most insanely over-technical election system EVER. We just show up on X day and pick who we want for our local Member of Parliament (State Senator I guess?), and who we want as Prime Minister (President). No primaries, straw polls, delegates.

As an interesting aside.. not that this will be new to any of you.. right now, if you CTRL+F on the Fox News Politics page, you'll find 11 instances of 'Romney', 0 instances of 'Paul', and if you do a site search on 'Ron Paul', you have to go back 4 pages to find an article with his name in the main title. It sucks that most of the world's coverage of Ron Paul is copy-paste from biased BS news sources like this.

From Politico:

There are signs that this might not be the smoothest of transitions -- the Dispatch reports "the state GOP transferred all, or nearly all, of its roughly $100,000 to the local Capital City Republicans in Juneau" in advance of the vote.

Hmmm...

That CERTAINLY sounds illegal!

"Truth is an absolute defense to the charge of paranoia."

Whomever did the transfer

Probably put themselves personally on the hook for $100,000.00.

Question on what happens at state conventions

Question to you eperts on this...using Mo as an example - If RP had the majority of delegates going into the state convention for MO (I thought he did), yet lost at the state convention (due to, I beleive, Santorum supporters turning to Romney) does this mean that even the states where we (RP) does NOT get the majority of delegates, that come the state convention for those states we can turn it around in our favor? Hope this makes sense...
I hope I'm not bothering you guys with questions all of the time, I'm just trying to peice this all together.
Thanks

State convention in Missouri

Hasn't happened yet

*Filmer of the Ron Paul chant at the convention has a question**

Hey guys - maybe you can help me out here as to whether this is a good idea or not. I got a message from this company called Storyful - in the message they said, "We help news agencies from around the world obtain good video and images on breaking news stories. We noticed your video, and we were wondering if is it ok for news agencies to use your video with a credit to you? "
They asked for a few more things like my info and everything but that was the meat of it.

Is something like this a good idea? I don't know if somehow the video can be used for bad or what so I'm not sure. Have you ever heard of this company?

Here is a link to their site

If this is them, it looks legit to me. If you want to check it out, If I were you I would simply be upfront and honest about any concerns you may have, an ask the right questions, then you will have a better feel. You never know until you inquire, it could be a good thing. The concern of them writing a negative article is legitimate, but I think the fact that they asked for your permission to use the video shows professionalism, and there will be negative articles regardless, so I would say ask some questions and go with your gut, you are intellegent enough to smell a rat if its a rat:-)

http://storyful.com/about

Storyful?

I haven't heard of them at all. What do we know about them?

Before I would say yes or no, I'd look into them a little closer. On the surface, it SEEMS like a good idea, but if they're gonna use this to knife us, that's a legitimate concern.

NO! I wouldn't do it, they

NO! I wouldn't do it, they will use it to make Paulites seem anti-Republican (instead of anti-Romney) to the unwashed masses! They will try to turn Romney supporters against Paul supporters, when we are trying to win people over to the more conservative side.

Politico: Ron Paul's Alaska payback

Ron Paul's Alaska payback
By CHARLES MAHTESIAN |4/29/12 9:55 AM EDT

Despite a disappointing third place finish in the March 6 Alaska caucuses, Ron Paul is looking like a winner there: A Paul supporter was voted in as the new GOP chairman Saturday at the state convention.

It's more evidence of the political maturation of the Paul forces, who are beginning to seize the levers of powers from within state parties.
