Ron Paul backers prepare takeover in Nevada

Article about NV state convention:

The Ron Paul presidential campaign has a guerrilla-style takeover strategy heading into next week’s Nevada Republican Convention at John Ascuaga’s Nugget in Sparks.

The campaign wants to dominate the convention by delivering as many as 65 percent of the total delegates to the convention floor.

“Whoever shows up controls the tempo of the meeting,” said Carl Bunce, Paul’s campaign chairman for Nevada.

Those who show up will elect 25 of Nevada’s 28 national convention delegates, as three spots for the state chairman, national committeeman and committeewoman are already taken.

The Ron Paul folks want to stack that number with their people. Other state Ron Paul organizations are doing the same, Republicans said.

go Nevada !!

lets really show them who "won" Nevada.

Dr.Ron Paul's 2002 Predictions

Of course Delegates can Vote what they Want

The majority on the floor write their own rules and don't let anyone tell you any different. Keep pushing.

Bound Delegates can Abstain

Bound delegates do not need to vote FOR the candidate they are bound to and can in fact abstain from voting. This is the how and the why the establisment status quo is coming undone.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has. - Margaret Mead

No Delegate should abstain!

Once credentialed delegates hit the floor of the RNC convention, RNC convention rules prevail.

They protect a delegate's ability to vote for whomever they want whenever they want.

If they abstain then RP loses a vote.

You are giving BAD ADVICE because you have not READ THE RNC RULES.

I think it's better to wait

I think it's better to wait for the instructions the official campaign gives.

Delegates Abstaining

Not only is it legal, according to this many believe it is completely legal to vote WHOMEVER you want even if "bound".

It is YOUR vote. No guns to your head. Vote your conscience.

"If you put a gun to my head and said vote Romney/Gingrich/Santorum...I would say pull the trigger!"

Comparable to jury nullification

"It is YOUR vote. No guns to your head. Vote your conscience."

This would be comparable to jury nullification. I LIKE it!

"A noble spirit embiggens the smallest man" -Jebediah Springfield

Simply Put - A Bound Delegate Is Comparable To

A Politician Who Makes A Promise To Vote A Particular Platform Once Elected To Office...Essentially a campaign promise... In the end you cannot force a delegate to vote one way or another whether it's first ballot, second ballot, whatever ballot. Your Vote=Your Right. It's called VOTING RIGHTS!!! As delegates we simply are exercising our voting rights. Also the Bill Of Rights addresses the issue of binding and supersedes the election code, see below:

The Fifteenth Amendment (Amendment XV) to the United States Constitution prohibits each government in the United States from denying a citizen the right to vote based on that citizen's "race, color, or previous condition of servitude" (for example, slavery). It was ratified on February 3, 1870.

Part of Speech: noun
Definition: slavery
Synonyms: bondage, bonds, chains, confinement, enslavement, obedience, peonage, serfdom, serfhood, subjection, subjugation, thrall, thralldom, vassalage, yoke

Part of Speech: noun
Definition: sign of good faith
Synonyms: bail, bond, collateral, deposit, earnest, gage, guarantee, guaranty, pawn, security, surety, token, warrant, warranty

Part of Speech: adjective
Definition: obligated; destined
Synonyms: apprenticed, articled, bent, bounden, certain, coerced, compelled, constrained, contracted, doomed, driven, duty-bound, enslaved, fated, firm, forced, having no alternative, impelled, indentured, intent, made, necessitated, obligated, obliged, pledged, pressed, required, restrained, sure, under compulsion, under necessity, urged

According to the Bill Of Rights "Bounding" or "Pledging" to effectively limit voting Is Unconstitutional and therefore Unlawful and Unenforceable or Null And Void if written into the election code or any other code...

you know....

we should be "infiltrating" the Democrat Party as well.

if it hasnt already, i assume we'll start hearing Levin, Limbaugh et-al come out and declare war. i refuse to listen to those idiots, so they may have done so already (besides their general disdain for RP and his supporters). i cant express enough gratitude to those around the country who have taken their time and worked within the GOP for Ron Paul! Hopefully, the likes of Rove, Lindsey Graham, John McCain and the rest wont feel at home in our party in the not too distant future!

That's not as crazy as you might think

I've been stewing on that idea for a few months now. I mean, the biggest problem we have today in American politics is that both parties are infiltrated by big government spending types.

The way to win this war isn't so much to win back one of the parties, its to win back both of them. They talk about "blue dog" Democrats who are fiscally conservative. But there aren't very many of them.

It seems that liberty lovers who prefer "blue" over "red" ought to be taking over the blue party and kicking out the big spenders, and replacing them with people who want to fight for liberty.

I mean, we complain about how much better the Republicans would be if they got back to their roots. But the Democratic party would also be much more attractive if it was the democratic party of the 1950s. The one that my grandfather was a proud member of.

How would it be if, in the near future, no matter which ticket you vote for, your only choices will be for people who treasure liberty and prosperity. Talk about turning the tables.

The big government guys are "winning" right now because they have taken over both options. The best way to fight that is to try to take over both options with slightly different flavors of peace and liberty.

shh... it's already begun:oD

I see no reason why as far as 'entitlements' go, Dr. Paul's own stated goal of 'cutting off militarism abroad to shore up those already made dependent, while transitioning out of it,' wouldn't be 100% compatible with Dems and the stated trajectory of RP & R3VOL.

That is of course, as long as R3VOL Dems don't push for any NEW programs, despite the fact that ideally, we shouldn't have ANY outside Art.I Sec8's explicitly enumerated delegated powers, to begin with.

Have high hopes for Dan.

He's PERFECT for his insanely diverse district. He's an Irish Catholic married to a Latina, who's lived abroad in China who speaks one of world most difficult languages to master: BOTH Cantonese and Mandarin, whose Congressional constituency span China Town in Manhattan to Brooklyn and Parts of Queens.

Think, almost EVERY SINGLE PERSON from every member nation in the UN. That's his constituency. Brave. Truly brave.

He's the perfect R3VOL RP 2.0 candidate!

Even better, perfectly palatable to the Dems with his staunch defense of Bill of Rights/The Constitution. Though I'm sure he's more than likely to be tempered somewhat on delivery of protection of 2nd Amend, immigration issue, and keeping 'entitlements' the way it is.

I'm sure, from what I can observe publicly so far, Dan seems to be a pretty good communicator on those issues, while attracting people from Dems and GOP, as well as all in between, or even outside of that binary political spectrum.

You know that's not a bad idea.

This is my favorite quote

This is my favorite quote from the article:

“There is no other campaign that feels the need to poke the party in the eye like the Ron Paul campaign,” King County GOP chairwoman Lori Sotelo told the Times. “For heaven’s sake stop hitting us with a fire hose.”

GET USED TO IT or get WITH the Program!!

Go Dr Paul !

The strategy is already working. Fingers crossed the delegates will stand for Ron Paul ! The world deserves Ron Paul and Ron Paul deserves the support of the world !

"guerrilla-style takeover?:" They make us out to be terrorists!.

....Homegrown terrorists.

Nevada is really gearing-up the anti-Ron Paul propaganda machine. Read this crap:

Will the past be prologue at state GOP convention?
By Jon Ralston (contact)
Friday, April 27, 2012 | 2:01 a.m.

I do so hate to see party conventions not go smoothly.

[I won't print anymore here. It's just pure trash.]

ugh, Ralston's such a punk.

ah, to know almost ALL MSM blurbs would be more or less dismissive or outright smear vs. RP & the R3VOL, but vigilance duty vs. mass idiocy never seems to cease.

"I do so hate to see party conventions not go smoothly."

That opening statement alone signals and reveal Ralston to be a party collectivist hack. As whichever the 'establishment' is, would be the one in charge, and the only time if things didn't "go smoothly" would be a 'bad thing' would be IF one is a party operative/RINO/shill.

And, as if there were any doubt as to who's side he's on:

"As much as I would hate to see it, the Paul folks are intent on trying to do in 2012 what they almost did in 2008 — hijack the national convention delegation."

so sad, but of course, 1000000% predictable.

Of course, it's only bad and 'cheating' if WE work WITHIN the system, follow the rules, and change from within. What a bunch of whinos!

Are there any crafty R3VOL personally working on a truth perfume or cologne, or something, so you wouldn't have to use it on them, but just wearing one yourself would induce them to tell the truth?

Can use one just about now.D

isnt Ralston a big lefty?

or is he just a true believer in "order"? Ie. the little people dont get too uppity?

what a POS. Ralston apparently applauds the railroading of the Paul people in '08, yet chastises us for taking advantage of the process, fair and square!

from what few past posts by him that I could stomach, that's

what I thought as well: always thought he was a self-proclaimed liberal.

I know right? While I don't expect them to, these hacks simply cannot be honest about anything!

When we WIN following their own rules fair and square, despite the fact that they were designed specifically to serve Mutt Wrongney and the current RINO establishment, they bitch and whine that we 'stole' it. When they ACTUALLY steal it, it's just cost of doing routine business.

Do we cry 'it's unfair!' about a bunch of murderous thieving lunatics?

We just get even.D

What a bunch of petty, petulant spoiled teenagers.

Reminds of Seth Green in Austin Powers, like "I hate you dad! This sucks!" wha wha. oh boo boo, took your own tyranny toolbox and biatchslapped you with it!

And, look at all the loaded words that Ralston used, like "sycophants."

THAT term is ONLY apt for mindless braindead RINO drones who believe the current state of the world is just F'ng hunky dory, who continue to carry out orders from upper management blindly, kissing their assess every step of the way.

Guess for Ralston, it takes one to know one, eh? He was actually looking at himself in the mirror, as he typed that.

what a sniveling little weasel.

You know, perhaps it is wise to 'judge a book by its cover' as frankly, in my experience, most sniveling, conniving little weasels, look just like that: shifty, talks fast in hopes others don't get a chance to directly confront him and ask him equally stupid loaded questions he can't answer, then just as one is about to answer something in depth, immediately switch to talking about another topic, which guarantees that the questioner 'never gets anything wrong,' finally closing out with 'sorry, we're out of time.'

God I hate these obvious propagandist MSM hacks! arghghghg.

There's a little sidebar on the left of the article that says if

Grinch drops out this week Romney will get 20 delegates and Paul 8. Can you explain that?

That's the AP news provider's way of guessing

that they've been using from the beginning based on straw poll results. As soon as I see a writer quote AP then I know they're just a repeater, not a reporter and I stay on the page just long enough to leave a pro Paul message in the comments. :)

Now it's about the Constitution and the fight to defend it.

I'm hoping for a complete sweep!! It'd be nice to win 100% of delegates in a state. But I'm happy with just getting 50% or more. :)

"Break the rules?

Although the RNC mandates that national delegates must vote in accordance with state primary or caucus results, Ron Paul’s supporters appear to want to push the mandate to the limit."

In fact, the rules do not recognize "Binding".

And the beautiful last paragraph says,

“They might not be Romney supporters,” Bunce said of the national delegates. “The people who have the heart and minds to make it to the national delegation floor, they have a choice to make. Anything is possible at that point.”
