RP Hunter Cartoon
Submitted by V1G1L4NT on Sun, 04/29/2012 - 21:37I've wanted to contribute more to the movement and thought the best way was through my artistic abilities. I'm by no means the best at any of this, but want to keep honing in my skills and do as well as possible! In this cartoon Ron Paul holds a rifle with Constitution inscribed upon it. The Republicans and Democrats are portrayed as their respective animals and take on a worried demeanor when they look at Ron Paul. Paralleled to real life of course! Enjoy!
Edit: Disclaimer: I am in no way trying to represent or condone violence just as Ron Paul would not. The gun is a metaphor for the Constitution. Basically, the cartoon is depicting that Ron Paul is coming after the establishment with the Constitution and they are scared.

When I looked at it I didn't even see
the word "Constitution" on the gun. I think that "metaphor" is going to be missed by most, and the impression overall is more of a violent one. Also, I could not discern that those were stacks of money until someone below asked about it. Not a big fan, but appreciate the effort.
What I can do
is make the word brighter or whatnot so it sticks out as there was a previous suggestion to do so. However, it is also mentioned in the description exactly what I'm trying to accomplish even with a edited disclaimer. Doesn't seem like too many people on here like political cartoons and I have lots of ideas. Shame. It's kind of my first real exposure on Daily Paul also-my first post. I thought people would have a sense of humor.
Also, as far as the money goes, I didnt spend more than about 5 minutes working on that part. I just did it up to the point which I would have thought most people could understand. I can work on that also. Thank you for the suggestion.

I liked It!

I think the animals need to look less innocent and Ron Paul more caring, But all in all I like it.
Wouldnt it go down well in 2nd Amendment loving states?
Absolutely
I was kind of thinking that too. Also was a side thought on here. Not sure what the problem is with the gun anyway. Libertarians are supposed to be highly pro 2nd Amendment. Glad you like it!

Ron
Rons weapon is his intellect, not a firearm.
Good intention, but it really doesn't capture the intellectual revolution he's started.
Could be mis-interpreted as dog whistle call fire violence.
"If this mischievous financial policy [greenbacks], which has its origin in North America, should become endurated down to a fixture, then that government will furnish its own money without cost. It will pay off its debts and be without debts. It will hav
The intellect
you are speaking of is referenced in the word Constitution. This isn't about firearms per say. Yes, the Constitution is definitely the weopon of choice for Ron Paul and that's what I'm trying to show here. I guess not enough emphasis. I can't understand how this can be interpretted as violent when you undertsand the reference. It seems lots don't get it even though I'm sounding out each syllable in the description.

I can't figure out what the animals
are sitting on.
New Hampshire and Ecuador.
Money
piles and piles of dollars.
This is the only situation in which I would support cruelty to animals. (i.e. RP rubbing out the Rs and Ds)

I see alot of comments they say stuff like "it looks like violence" I don't care what other people say and you should not either I get that there is metaphor in there. It is their opinion to not like it but I am happy you made what is inside your head.

Thank you
I appreciate that. I appreciate the negative comments as well. I understand that it's not gonna be everyones cup-of-tea.

I don't like it.
He looks too much like a caricature and he doesn't parade around threatening with guns. He just believes in the right of the people to own them. Your artwork is great, really, but I personally find this image disturbing.
Tough crowd!
Parade around?
"Timid men prefer the calm of despotism to the tempestuous sea of liberty" TJ
Maybe so
but he does use "ammunition" from the Constitution which is why I put that word on the rifle. Disturbing or not it is not meant to be violent. It is meant as a metaphor and to be humorous. Thank you for your honesty and I'm sorry it offends you. Hopefully I can put some work on here you will enjoy...

Sorry for the art that comes from you. When one is offended it is them who are offended by what they see, It is not the artist fault the artist is just expressing their own feelings.

Did you see the
Gun is actually the constitution? Remember art can be taken metaphorically.

Really fun, but folks might object (wuss) to the "violence."
That's easy to avoid, though. Have the elephonkeys in hot air balloons, and have Ron with a slingshot. Same message, less objectionable.
Sounds like
another fun idea to pursue as well :)

Never take pride...
In even having to USE a gun for any reason.

I understand what you mean
I'm just using it as a metaphor though. I personally think it's very poignant and also satirical as it is a political cartoon. Hope you can find it amusing :)

Serious tools
Need to be taken seriously. It is the basis of Libertarian thought. Lol. I also understand.

I was thinking about that too. I can try that ;) Thank you guys.
