Like my once in a month exercise, I was going through my youtube history. I wanted to refer back to some videos I had watched before. (Ones not worth putting in my favorites/watch later/playlists. But still mildly worth checking out after 3-4 months.)
Since October 2011, my youtube history has been about 99% of videos something to do with Ron Paul or election cycle. To my horror, I noticed that a very significant number of videos had become unplayable! I estimate roughly 5% of them. Upon further investigation, I found out that youtube claimed these videos were gone because accounts related to them were shut down for "terms of service" violations. Various parties such as CNBC, Disney, Philip Morris, Viacom ... had submitted complaints of material belonging to them in videos doing "copyright infringement". About a month ago, I remember reading someone complain: When they typed "Ron Paul" search term in youtube, the number of videos returned were much lesser than what they used to be months before. Unfortunately, I don't remember saving exact location where this statement was made.
I don't want to put on my tinfoil hat. But this has to make me wonder. Is google/youtube involved in some sort of thuggery towards Ron Paul? Or is such account shutdown a general youtube phenomenon across the board?
