In a way, recordings and printings are similar to counterfeiting

Recordings and counterfeiting both give the illusion that labor has been reproduced without having to actually perform the labor again.

The labor normally required to produce a performance, writing, or work of art is essentially counterfeited at almost no cost in the manufacturing and digital age, at least if you're a large corporation already in control of these industries.

"Copyright" is how these corporations use the government to enforce the value of their reproductions of labor, or their counterfeiting of previous labor. Is this resulting in the overvaluation of performances? Is this why successful actors and musicians are so much more wealthy than successful laborers in other businesses?

In the past, actors and musicians had to perform to earn a living, just like everyone else has to perform labor. Now they can merely perform once and then reproduce their labor, probably at a similar cost of printing a $100 federal reserve note (7 cents) and make money on it endlessly. But would this be as easy without copyright enforcement?

Hmm, just thinking out loud...
