I am a Delegate to the CTGOP Convention - T-Minus 2 hours to departure

UPDATED: I am a Delegate to the Connecticut Republican Convention TODAY.

I know of at least one other delegate who is a Ron Paul supporter. If we identify other Ron Paul people in that place, you'd better believe we're going to caucus, if only to make a public show of support for the ONLY man capable of being President of the United States and Commander in Chief of the U.S. Armed Forces in these perilous times.

And, if ANYONE talks up Romney during the six hours I've got to be there, I'M NOT TAKING IT SITTING DOWN!!!!!!

Nobody's going to call ME an "Obama Lover." No. That's reserved STRICTLY for the Romneyists, every last one of em!

OLD POST: The main task will be nominating our Senatorial candidate, which is a dead heat between two candidates:

Wrestling empress and 2010 loser Linda "I gotta lotta munee" McMahon and former Congressman Chris "How should I vote?" Shays. 2010 write-in loser Brian K. Hill is also contending, and in fact is the best man for the job but is not competitive in this race.

Whatever happens, there'll be a primary vote for the senate nomination, and most of the congressional races also have their own dramas.

It depends what's on the

It depends what's on the agenda. As far as I know, the delegates were selected by slate on April 24th. However, if there are any nominations for committeeman or chairman, that could pay dividends for the campaign and us in general for the long run.

I can't find an agenda. There is none.

I can't find an agenda. There is none. Even State Central folks I spoke with are shocked as to how poor the information is from CTGOP. Everyone is confused as to what's going happen after we get there.

(Probably on purpose, to keep Ron Paul peope from seizing power. But State Central people are known for their drinking habits. It won't take but a few swigs of Johnny Walker to make them forget where they are, allowing more sober individuals to assume authority.)

CT's GOP is too poor and backward to be of any help

CT's GOP is too poor and backward to be of any help. They provide no information on the convention rules or schedule or anything. Too little money, they claim. Only Linda McMahon has got the bread to send delegate packets and newsletters.

So there are two sessions, a morning and evening one.

In my delegation, seems like everyone's only going to the evening one, since that's the big showdown for the Senate candidate, and likely to have the best parties and booze.

If the morning session has delegates being chosen for Tampa, I'll go. But will I be of any use if the incompetent boobs in Willard's campaign have a prepared list of delegates?

can't affect delegates there

The delegates in Connecticut are chosen by the winning candidate's campaign and approved by the state committee. So the convention will not have any impact on the slate of delegates sent by the state to Tampa. They will all be firmly in the Romney camp.

Actually if you are not at the convention, they cannot choose you.

justify that based on their state party rules

Check section 17d. The delegates aren't chosen at the state convention. They are ratified by the state committee at a meeting next Friday, and the choices are made by the candidate's campaigns. Romney will make all the choices and the state committee will accept those decisions. The state convention has no role in that process.

You might want to contact the Ron Paul campaign and see if they have any advice for you, or a network of other Ron Paul delegates for CT.

Connecticat: Draft Peter Schiff for Senate.

He has name recognition as he has spoke to people all over the State. Conservatives don't like someone new, if Peter comes back he should do very well.

Same with Jake Towne, Joe Kennedy, Linda Goldthorpe, and John Dennis.

John Dennis is already following Ron Paul's example, and is giving it a second shot.

and do your best to get them nominated to go to Tampa! Even if they are "bound" to Romney, they might be able to abstain from voting until they are released. Or if there are enough of you you could vote to unbind all of the delegates who would then be free to vote their conscience. Good luck!
