Washington Times: Ron Paul Supporters Create Delegate Mischief

By Ralph Z. Hallow | Washington Times
May 1, 2012

Mitt Romney may be the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, but Rep. Ron Paul of Texas is quietly racking up some organizational victories that could complicate Mr. Romney’s anticipated coronation at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Fla., this summer.

Exploiting party rules, loyalists for the libertarian congressman from Texas in recent days have engineered post-primary organizing coups in states such as Louisiana and Alaska, confirming what party regulars say would be an effort to grab an outsized role in the convention and the party’s platform deliberations.

In Massachusetts, the state where Mr. Romney served as governor, Paul loyalists over the weekend helped block more than half of Mr. Romney’s preferred nominees from being named delegates at state party caucuses — even though Mr. Romney won his home state’s primary with 72 percent of the vote. Many state GOP establishment figures, including longtime state Republican National Committee member Ron Kaufman, won’t be going to Tampa in August as official delegates.

Mr. Paul, who is Mr. Romney’s only active challenger with the expected withdrawal Wednesday of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, “is doing more with less than any modern presidential campaign in recent memory,” said Doug Wead, a Paul campaign adviser who served as an aide to President George H.W. Bush.

“More surprises coming,” Mr. Wead, an evangelical Christian, blogged this week. “It means that Ron Paul will be a factor in Tampa.”

If Mitt really has the numbers, what's the problem?

They can just outvote us to get the delegates.

Pretty simple concept, I think.

hmmm

I love the cry of neocons in the morning. It sounds like victory.

Shenanigans!

What's his next headline going to be... "Ron Paul supporter shenanigans in Tampa leads to nomination" ?

Hahaha, what a bitter crybaby. Here, Mr. Hallow, I have a small violin for you.

Before the Paul surprise coup

Before the Paul surprise coup in Massachusetts, for example, the RNC had assigned the Marriott LDS Hotel in Tampa overlooking the convention center for the delegation representing the likely nominee’s home state. The hotel is considered the nicest in the vicinity — and now the Paul delegates will be able to enjoy the top-floor views.

"exploiting party rules"

ie. showing up and being counted LOL

It's as if the article says- "those RULES are for the PARTY to exploit in any way their LEADERSHIP sees fit"

Time to INVESTIGATE the investigators of 9/11. PROSECUTE the prosecutors. EXPOSE the cover-up.

Its painful

Its painful for them to admit they were wrong. No body like to be wrong but to be wrong on this level is irreversible.

Slightly bitter there, Mr. Hallow?

His language is dripping with spite and hatred from beginning to end, trying to paint the good guys as the devil incarnate.

"Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle is always a vice." -- Thomas Paine

Agreed

Now I know why the Media feels they will lose their jobs. They have been lying and if Ron Paul is elected, the truth will spill on the floor and the number of people who will stop going to these news sources for information will be insurmountable.

HA!!!!

"If you think we can't change the world, it just means you're not one of those that will"

Jacque Fresco

hahhahahahaha

He said we're "exploiting party rules..."

Really? Following rules is "exploiting" them?? Wow! It must be something they're not used to seeing.

"Well, you know it's like I always say 'it ain't government work if you don't have to do it twice.'" - Jerry Gergich

So...

..they call us mischievous? Hehe. I like that. Truth is, when we follow the rules and win they call it something else because to them it is totally foreign and brand it as against the NORM. Makes me laugh.

Ditto to that. We get blasted no matter what...

so let's be mischievous and get what we want!

Mr Hallow needs a dictionary

or maybe he's just a stupid jackass. His intent is to clearly lie and defame us for personal and political gain.

Government is supposed to protect our freedom, our property, our privacy, not invade it. Ron Paul 2007

“Organizing coups”? Was

“Organizing coups”? Was Romney already crowned? And now Paul supporters are taking his sceptre away? Of course if the media actually did their homework—you know real journalism—the state of affairs wouldn’t be a mystery. But instead they treated Ron as an apparition, and now the ghost is anything but.

I am an aristocrat. I love liberty; I hate equality. - John Randolph of Roanoke

Listen Mr. Hallow

Had you the media actually done your job and investigated the rampant fraud in the GOP now being exposed daily by Ron Paul supporters you'd find that Ron Paul and his followers are the only ones actually following the rules. Had you (the MSM in general) fairly donated the billions of dollars in airtime and print you freely gave to Bachman, Gingrich, Cain, Perry, Santorum, Trump, and your masturbatory poster child Romney, Ron Paul would be leading the polls by a landslide and you know it.
If there were any justice in the word you and most of the MSM would be sued for illegal campaign contributions, locked in jail for election tampering, and executed for treason.

Wow. Seems far fetched but so

Wow.
Seems far fetched but so did all the crap that is happening in the world now.
It seems there is no bottom to this rabbit hole.

Field Goals COUNT!

Watch a football game. The WINNER scores more points. It does not matter who gets more total yards. It does not matter who the commentators like. It does not matter who scores more touchdowns. The team with the most points WINS. If those points come as a result of the other team fumbling, or from a low yardage offense that scores alot of FIELD GOALS, it is irrelevant. If Ron Paul follows the rules, and gets fewer VOTES (total yards) but is shrewd enough to score more POINTS (delegates) it is not shameful, it is smart. What's shameful is how he has been treated by the Collectivist Media (FOX in particular) since 2007.

This is actually a good

This is actually a good analogy but you should compare total votes to how many in the crowd want a particular team to win.
If 2/3 of the crowd at a stadium wants one team to win, that doesnt mean they are going to win. They still need to gain points (delegates) to win.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

Blow up their phones!

I HATE being called a 'loyalist.' I'm a RP inspired PATRIOT

Getting called a 'loyalist' riles me up like no other insult (with the possible exception of being called a 'Kool-Aid drinker.')

99.9% of journalists representing the dying media are loyalists to the American Crown. There is no doubt in my mind that this journalist considers himself to be a patriot.

I am so sick of liberal journalists taking powerful terms and perverting them to mean the exact opposite of the historical meanings. Liberals perverted the 'liberal' to mean big government statism. Liberals perverted the word 'conservative' to mean statism. They are reversing the meanings of 'patriots and loyalists.' If libertarians keep succeeding they will no doubt do the same thing to the word 'libertarian.'

THEY NEVER CALL THINGS WHAT THEY ARE. The people who now represent what we consider to be modern day liberals will ALTER THE ENGLISH ITSELF to get their way. I can't think right now of the best phrase to describe them, but shamefully dishonest is far too soft.

Proverb

Your post reminds me of a chinese proverb:

"The beginning of wisdow is to call things by their right names"

"Our country's founders cherished liberty not democracy" - Ron Paul

I like "Presstitutes"

Quite fitting I think.

No need to get all worked up friend, that's exactly what they want so that we say things in retaliation that they can use as a soundbite against us. That's why a little word-play is more effective.

Kill 'em with kindness (and a bit of clever humour too).

"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience"—Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

They don't get it.

If Mr. Paul seeks platform concessions, he won’t be able to use nomination balloting as a cudgel because the platform is written a week earlier. He also will have to apply early if he wants a prominent speaking slot in Tampa because the platform lineup is worked out weeks before the convention.

The platform is ignored by the candidates and, in regard to any speech Ron Paul might be scheduled to give at the convention, he has already said he doesn't expect to be allowed to say anything he wants to say.

So why is he getting all these delegates? They just don't get it. Could be that he's trying to win the nomination and that his supporters won't give up. We can't be bought, like some Tea Party organizers. We won't go away. That's what the Republicans should know, but don't... yet.

You Bring Up a Great Point

These so-called "tea party leaders" have all sold out. They're worthless, for the most part. The local tea party in Orlando supported Cain, then Gingrich, and now Romney. They bitch about politicians having no principles, but then demonstrate that they have none themselves!

Tea Party = GOP Party

Tea Party = GOP Party

MISCHEIF???????????????????

The writer of this article's name is Ralph Z. Hallow from the The Washington Times.

We need to SMASH him with emails if we can find his address.

I don't have time to look right now.

BUT IT ISN'T MISCHEIF. It's following the RULES.

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul
