In order to truly support our troops it has become even more urgent that we end our serial warfare abroad and bring the troops home where they belong!

I just want to share this...l

Sunday morning my husband woke me up at 5am. He was in a hurry and asked me if I would help him get his uniform pressed and ready. My husband is 17 year US Marine, active duty. It took me a while to realize what was going on, since I was still sleepy. As I ironed his slacks, I was listening to my husband on the phone, and realized the hurry. My husband was was on his way to inform a mother that her son has died. I continued to iron thru tears and I don't think there has ever been a sharper crease.
This was not a suicide, but that family has not been given all the details yet, so I won't disclose them here, but the families hurt and pain was all the same.
I just want to stress that ALL of these senseless deaths of our military men and women are affecting millions of people. I certainly don't want to make any of this about my husband, but I just want to remind others that this is real, its destroying Americas foundation.

Thank you for sharing, and

Thank you for sharing, and thanks to you and your husband for your service and sacrifice.

bumping--

will it ever end?

:(

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

So sad.

I pray for them.

This tragedy is very real; don't let nationalist sentiments get in the way of acting as a true patriot, recognizing this grave reality faced by our troops and taking action to help them.

But the "support the troops"

But the "support the troops" crowd still clamors for endless war and even a goodly number of them were for that warmongering chickenhawk Santorum.

YOU DON'T SUPPORT THE TROOPS unless you're against the wars!

END THE WAR!!! Vote for Ron Paul in 2012!

At what point is it going to become morally reprehensible to NOT protest these wars and demand the return of our soldiers to where they came from? Have we already past that point? I am beginning to feel like I have.

A vote for anyone but Paul this election cycle is besmirching of ones' character and ought to offend an individuals' good conscience.

"If we are really interested in supporting our troops then we must stop manufacturing wars where good men and women bleed and die on the battlefield or in their bathtubs while the rest of us sit at home and watch NCIS."

There is NO other more pressing issue. Not even the economy like other's I have heard say.

Anyone voting for Obama must be made to face this fact. Too much is at stake to a letter D or R behind a politicians' name matter anymore.

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters." Benjamin Franklin

We get the real news from Iranians

Who our corrupt government wants to blow up.

Who are the bad guys?

Nope

You get different news from the Iranians, but I have no reason to believe their news sources are more reliable than our own. We know how bad our news sources are. We don't know how bad theirs is.

"Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle is always a vice." -- Thomas Paine

you come from a neutral perspective,

while we the people are heavily into protecting the iranian muslims and their mullahs, and hence trust news from jihadists as they both share the same perspectives.

jj

The real news is what is important

And the topic proves we are getting the real news from Iranians, news which will not be reported by our corrupt media - and make no mistake about it, it's our corrupt media that is trying to stop Ron Paul; while Iran and much of the world would actually prefer Ron Paul for president.

Therefore, our media is certainly one of the most corrupt, because it defends all the corrupt unconstitutional things we're doing and attempts to destroy the one candidate that would end that corruption.

I would actually trust a news report on Ron Paul from Iranian media before I would trust a news report on Ron Paul from American media. Think about it and I'm sure you'll agree.

It is kooky to be a terrorist sympathsizer.

Of course the Iranian government are bad. Why do you want to get into an entangling alliance and speak out in favor of one side over the other side?

I am certain Iranian government has no love for America and infact has voiced vicious words about wanting its doom - and for that you consider Iran a good country.

jj

Got facts much?

Got facts much?

Resist the temptation to feed the trolls.

his speeches are all over the place, however

you can not overreact and want global war, but it is psychotic to be defending this man.

jj

We're defending the truth

Nobody's defending Iran, we're only defending the truth. And something emotional is clearly keeping you from seeing that.

Harsh

A person acknowledges Press TV, Iranian, for posting a Ron Paul video that another US news source posted and you equate that to sympathizing with a terrorist ?
That's harsh judgement of a person, is it not ?
Harsh judgement of the entire Country of Iran, including its people and culture. Harsh judgment of the DP poster and all who see the difference between a people and their government.

YOu do raise a very important point - People around the world judge us, the American people, on our governments rhetoric, militant acts and slaughter of innocents. Just as you judge Iran, the world judges us.

"I call on the young men of America who must make a choice today to take a stand on this issue. Tomorrow may be too late. The book may close. And don't let anybody make you think that God chose America as his divine, messianic force to be a sort of policeman of the whole world. God has a way of standing before the nations with judgment, and it seems that I can hear God saying to America, "You're too arrogant! And if you don't change your ways, I will rise up and break the backbone of your power, and I'll place it in the hands of a nation that doesn't even know my name. Be still and know that I'm God." " - Martin Luther King Jr.

Iran has every right

to be angry with America. You should know this if you are a Ron Paul supporter. We went in there in 1953 and caused all kinds of problems, and we're about to attack them for no reason.

The world is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good is my religion.
-Thomas Paine

Try reversing the roles

What if Iran was putting crippling sanctions on America? What if Iran was trying to prevent America from legally developing nuclear power? What if Iran was trying to cause chaos in America and overthrow America's government? What if the media of Iran was spreading world-wide lies about America and had a massive campaign of propaganda against America?

What if Iran was threatening to bomb and invade America weekly, patrolling our coasts with warships, calling us terrorists, and trying to provoke us to attack them so they could have an excuse to wipe us out?

Who are the real terrorists?

Iran should learn to behave itself.

and not make lightening statements in order to lure people into attacks. He knows what he is doing and it ain't good, so I don't think anyone honest should be defending him and his government.

He put limitations on the internet, enforced islamization of their schools and media, etc... And you think they don't deserve critcism.

I don't think Iranian government and its mullahs are looking for any sympathy or want victimization status as you are giving them.

When Iran is as bad as it is, it is no good to take their side or say someonelse is the evil one when iran lacks credibility to stand on.

jj

if by the frequent references

if by the frequent references to "him" you mean Mahmoud Ahmadinejad I don't think anyone here is defending him. Also, it would be wise to remember that, unlike our president, the president of Iran doesn't actually possess any military power so any threats coming from him are largely impotent.

I posted about the epidemic of suicides plaguing our troops. Lets focus on that and stop derailing this into a debate about sins of Iran versus sins of the United States. Both governments have their corruption and I think everyone here recognizes that.

Everyone here does not recognize that

as they are busy assigning blame and corruption only to the US goverment and not at all to the Iranian mullahs and their corrupt regime. Corruption and their violent words they have used are never brought up while 'we the people' and others like her accuse the US only to infiltrating the incident.

Hence, it is also when someone is told to their face of their terrorist sympathsizer ways that they go into defense mode and act like they are not choosing sides in an entangling alliance.

jj

We intervened in Iran, not vice versa

Now we are reaping what we sowed. If instead we had become trade partners as Dr. Paul suggests, we could be the main customer of their oil, and at the same time influence their society far more than we ever have by overthrowing their governments and threatening them.

An example that Dr. Paul often gives is Vietnam. We bombed the hell out of Vietnam and it just made them resist harder. Since we've left we opened up trade with them instead and we both benefit from it.

Nobody is saying the Iranians are great, but the fact is that the US is absolutely the aggressor, which means we are also the instigator of bad relations with them.

Haven't you ever listened to Dr. Paul talk about the history of Iran and Operation Ajax?

Watch this, History of Iran, Operation Ajax:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8ybj5KULmA

You are picking the side of the Islam

and that really is your goal. They have both been aggressors equally - you need to get this through your head and get out of the business of picking sides, as you a serial hypocrite for focusing exclusively on America as the aggressor. You should be worried about your country only, yet you are intent on Muslims who won't stand up to terrorists and sympathisize with them like you do.

jj

It sounds like he is worried about his country

Hence is why WeThePeople is trying to look at the situation objectively and avoid a war which would inevitably kill many good Americans. I love my country and put its interests above those of any other, but you really need to face facts about the situation.

Sure Ahmeninejad and the Mullahs have said some incendiary stuff, but have you ever watched our debates? Have you ever heard the countless threats made by Hillary, Barack, McCain, etc? Words are just words. Look at the actions of our country vs the actions of Iran. we've already invaded their eastern and western neighbors. We've already successfully overthrown their government once. They are MAYBE pursuing the ability to make one bomb. We already have tens of thousands with ICBM capability. And we're the only country to have ever used them. They supported terrorist groups? We've supported many more.

No party is clean in this situation. But the fact is, I don't want to see more of my American brothers and sisters die and commit suicide for some pointless war between politicians.

Tu ne cede malis sed contra audentior ito

You are not objective, but standing up for Iran/radical Muslims

as you refuse to say the negative things about them, including their support for the various terrorist groups like hezbollah, etc...
You end up proppping up the Islmaic dictators when you rip apart only one side.

Yes, both parties speak of war, but so do the countries in the Middle East as well. So, it is inappropriate to ignore facts for one side but speak from a one-sided angle that ends up shielding the vile radical Muslims.

jj

Did you not read my post?

The Iranian government is full of corrupt and thuggish people. I said Iran has supported terrorist organizations, but we've given far more money to far more groups than they have. Thats not taking sides, that's just fact.

Why do I feel like I'm arguing with Sean Hannity?

Tu ne cede malis sed contra audentior ito

It's kind of strange

It's like he replies without even reading what anyone writes.

Lol

That's exactly why I think it's Sean Hannity. We know Rachel Maddow has an account on here, so it makes sense that Hannity would too. Someone needs to warn us of the 'radical Muslim agenda'!!!

Tu ne cede malis sed contra audentior ito

She does? That's interesting.

She does? That's interesting.
