Senator Rand Paul has issued a press release in which he vows to lead the charge to “end the TSA” and put a stop to the needless and humiliating groping of toddlers and grandmothers.
Earlier this year, Paul was detained by the TSA after refusing to submit to an invasive pat down after already having passed through a body scanner. The incident prompted national headlines and caused the Senator to miss his flight.
“It’s time to END the TSA and get the government’s hands back to only stealing our wallets instead of groping toddlers and grandmothers,” says Paul in the statement.

Where is the bill to end the tsa?
I can find no bill introduced. I'd love to see what is actually proposed. The private screeners we have now are not really private because they have to follow the TSA regulations. If he is talking about true private security run by the airline that I choose to contract with, then I am all for it. The public could then choose to fly on an airline that doesn't stick their hands down your pants. You would have to be willing to accept whatever risk is associated with not having a security agent's hand in your pants. I think that risk is close to zero, and it is certainly one I am willing to take.

Rand Paul announced it to the press only. No legislation as yet..

"The legislation would forcibly privatize the TSA and kick government out of airport security entirely."
This is what we need. Right now there are private companies that conduct security at airports, but they have to abide by TSA rules and wear TSA uniforms.
We need to strip the uniforms from them and let each airport decide how they want to conduct security.
We need to end (defund) the federal agency all together and allow airlines and/or airport to be responsible. That way they can be sued if they violate our rights and not have immunity.
This is so important because private companies could implement the same rules and they need to be sent to jail if they grope or molest anyone. Moreover they should be sued if they keep anyone from the right to travel or attempt to search without probable cause or a warrant.

It's only a start.
Though I do like Rand in a lot of ways, Rand is not Ron, and still has much to learn.
I am not in favor of privatizing TSA. I think the whole thing stinks profusely and only benefits the corporations which are profitting by our loss of freedom.
Make a product and sell it to make money but keep your cruddy paws off of me and my family.

Privatization of airport security
You might want to check Stossel's "No they can't" show. One segment was about private airport security in San Francisco.

But you are probably right monopoly would be bad, just like TSA.
Not True
I have flown out of SFO many times, since the new procedures were put in place. These people are just as clueless and unprofessional as all other TSA screeners at other airpots.
Moreover, they wear the same uniforms, use the same language, and act the same way as all other screeners.
The problem is that eventhough a private company manages the operation, they have to abide by federal rules. They cannot deviate from molestation and groping, nor can they make their own decision on removing the naked body scanners.
The way I understand
The way I understand privatizing the TSA is that the individual airlines would be responsible for the security of the passengers. So one airline, say Southwest may have minimal security so they can keep cost down, and not invade people's privacy. Delta may have more pat downs than the TSA, and armed gaurds on the flight to sell safety to their passengers. Then the market would dictate what people want.

Remember, Rand.
"Ending" means it's gone, and NOTHING replaces it.
Don't even THINK about playing "musical Fed Agencies".
NO TSA. NO REPLACEMENT for it.
