From Ben Swann WXIX facebook:
"Tonight's Reality Check (it will be posted here tonight) will be epic. I am going to show you how the RNC is breaking its own rules by giving money to the Romney campaign... Plus, something you won't see anywhere else. Why all these "bound" delegates from across the country may NOT be bound at all. How the race for the Republican nomination is barely getting started. Tonight!"

People put WAYYYYY too much

People put WAYYYYY too much stock in alocal Fox afiliate "journalist". Local affiliates hire people straight out of college with ZERO experience or expertise. This guys interpretation of RNC rules is not more accurate than a random poster here.

VinnyT ?

You Still Here?...TROLL ALERT!...Say HI to MITTENS, OK?

"Beyond the blackened skyline, beyond the smoky rain, dreams never turned to ashes up until.........
...Everything CHANGED !!

I wonder what name VinnyT will post under next time...

What a joke premise to offer here when it is most everyone here already figured out quite some time ago that because of the obsolescence of old-time 'newswire services' which have been replaced by the internet, the 'talking heads' on TV don't necessarily know any more than the rest of us can find out on our own.

Duh VinnyT, we know that. What VinnyT is a little late in trying to spin for us is that with the exception of rare guys like Ben, Jounalists have always been restrained by the business aspect of journalism, which doesn't make money selling actual news but instead makes money by selling Public Relations influence and advertizing.

Seemingly, Ben's boss is alright with Ben hurting the station's ability to market its Public Relations services to big money establishment interests. MY hat is actually off to Ben's boss.

Mainstream news as a business has, since always, spent money gathering news and offering just enough truth to get people to view content and believe it just enough to allow the 'news service' to occasionally spin news in the interests of advertizers or PR clients which compensate news services for presenting such interests in a good light, even if such things are not in fact true, as those who pay news services hope that such will be believed to be true by the viewers.

If Ben is at all naive, it isn't Journalism that he is naive toward but instead the business side of TV news.

A Public Service Announcement

For all those involved in the revolution, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!

Many people don't understand liberty. We must awaken them to its beauty by raising awareness. The following tactics may be used to wake people up:

1) Comments sections of news articles
2) Comments sections of popular youtube videos (Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, etc.)
3) Educating friends, family, significant others, etc.

We must also boycott all mainstream media sites, such as CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, etc. The internet has all the information you need. You don't need to tune into a news channel on the boob tube where some biased reporter, who is a slave to political correctness, when you can get that info on Drudge, message boards, etc.

Support for Obama is declining. Support for Romney has never been enthusiastic. Ron Paul and his message of liberty continue to trend upward. We cannot allow the lack of media coverage to temper our enthusiasm.

Rock on, fellow liberty

Rock on, fellow liberty lover. This kind of positive enthusiasm is exactly the kind of attitude we need to keep up around here. Fighting such a constant uphill battle will be disheartening for all of us at times, but we ARE changing this country one heart, mind, and soul at a time. We are setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of our fellow men. In the end, the truth will prevail!

It's not ignorance

It's not ignorance - they know what Liberty means, and it terrifies them! "What? Make my own decisions and be responsible for the consequences? What if I'm wrong?!?!? Who will fix it for me?"

I fear that too many people don't want Liberty - they want Mommy.

Sigh.

Freedom is my Worship Word!

What I see...

Is that clearly, the GOP & the powers that shouldn't be are really going w the agenda to act as if Ron Paul doesn't exist. Already moving fwd w the head to head fight against Obama. That's their strategy right now. Move fwd as if Romney was today already the winner.
It would seem to me that all the GOP rules don't matter (kind of like the constitution nowadays). They will cite the rules when it advantages them and ignore them when it doesn't. It's their party and they will do whatever they want, viewing RP and all of us as outsiders taking over. We ARE the tea party, WE are true conservatives, WE do want the Republic back!
EXTREMELY frustrating. People seem to also have missed the fact that we have fought for 4 years, spent MILLIONS (hundres and thousands individually) of $ to be where we are today w a great fighting chance & they think they can just DISMISS all of US, IGNORE all of us, act as if we are not there? We MUST keep fighting through the corruption and tyranny and be smarter than they are.

Let's Be Sure on This

New post with some info worth considering:
http://www.dailypaul.com/230881/urgent-ben-swann-and-matt-la...

It seems to me in light of this information

that the good Mr. Swann has expounded upon, the real battle for the hearts and minds of Americans centers upon the selection of delegates at the local level. Now I fully appreciate the real strength of Ron Paul grassroots campaign, to assimilate into local state caucuses.

For the lack of a better metaphor, Ron Paul's movement is quietly infiltrating the system like termites while the other candidates fill the air with impressive soundbites and fury, but give little substance retain a following---save for special interests with big pockets, of course.

Remember the final battle of Gondor in the 3rd Lord of the Rings movie, where the good guys fought those huge elephant critters? Those mutant elephant monsters remind me of the old school GOP candidates, who think by sheer size and power alone they will win. They literally think everyone else are beneath them as they ride their powerful beasts roughshod over the country.

Ron Paul participants in the local caucuses and delegate conventions are akin to the Riders of Rohan, bravely charging underneath the extinct RINO behemoths and cutting them off at the knees. Like Éomer, they are chucking a huge spear into the drivers of the beast, bringing them down like dominoes.

This is why the media and both political parties ignore and snub Ron Paul--Because he truly represents the average American, and they are jealous of him rallying the 'proles into active citizenship and participation, and teaching them see that the emperor has no clothes.

The delegate system, however flawed, shows the wisdom of the Founding Fathers to give the people the power to overcome the status quo. And TPTB are that Ron Paul will awaken Americans from their sleep and fill them with a terrible resolve to take their country back from the men behind the curtains.

Need help with rule 11

The RNC shall not, without written and filed approval …, contribute money, aid to any candidate except the nominee.
Does this mean they can contribute money and aid with written and filed approval?

All I know is

First ,or second ,or what ever, no matter what RON PAUL!!!!!

President Ron Paul!

Go get them delegates and do not back down!

Instead Of Discussing The Unit Rule and Rule 38, Why Don't

We just wait until we get to the RNC in Tampa. It's still way too early and we have alot more to prove and alot more delegates to collect. We must keep moving forward, working as hard as we can until the delegates are counted. Getting caught up in this confusing mess is another distraction. All of this will be sorted out there. I'm sure if there are any legal issues to be discussed, clarified and enforced, the attorneys for all parties involves will add further confusion before its all over.

All of this stuff is very important, but at this particular time, it may be a little premature trying to sort all this out now. If we don't continue winning the majority of state delegates all of these rule interpretations may not matter much in the end.

First things first.. Right now I'm more concerned about the Nevada delegate issue. I don't want to see the RNC block the delegates that rightfully belong to Ron Paul.

ytc's picture

Yes, emalvini, BUT broadcasting the concrete reasons to be

hopeful about is truly an important aspect of this GO TO TAMPA initiative. It's so easy to give in to the old apathetic & fearful inertia: I saw two of our local elected delegates to the state convention turn pessimistic and not show up, even when others offered to pay for their expense.

IF our state convention had some UPBEAT flashy Ron Paulian events announced in advance for all those who were starting to feel weary (to counter the Dick & Liz "I am so proud of my torture scheme" Cheney and other MittMitt rubber-stamping state officials) I think we could have done a lot better at our state convention.

All powers to Ben Swann and other irrepressible young activists! Be VISIBLE and VOCAL for liberty's sake :-)

i agree and disagree

I'm not sure how I feel about revealing strategy publicly. It seems that the campaign has a done a terrific job of communicating with delegates and setting delegates down the right path to nomination.

I feel that all of this discussion right now not only gives ammunition to the RNC that we are, in fact, planning to stage a coup, but it is also full of speculation without legal merit.

However, at the same time, the discussion is important because we need to keep Ron Paul supporters fired up about making it to the caucuses and getting their delegate spots because there may be ways to get Ron Paul elected, even if delegates are bound.

As you can see, I'm sort of neutral on the subject, but I'm sure the campaign is making the appropriate plans and is organizing behind the scenes (just as they've been doing for months).

I disagree. This needs to be

I disagree. This needs to be sorted out as it occurs. If you wait to the end you won't even know where to start figuring things out. As information comes out, it needs to be discussed in order to get the ball rolling on how to fix the problems or circumvent them. Many people here with a lot of knowledge, gained first hand. Many people here involved in the process that can keep the information honest and accurate. So I do believe in discussion, waiting gives them time to hide their tracks.

CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATES.

The reason that I hear people using to make the Unit rule irrelevant is that some states allow a one or a few unbound delegates. The Unit Rule also specifically cites CONGRESSIONAL delegates cannot be bound either.

This essentially means that they can't just unbind a few delegates while all others remain bound. They'd still be binding entire Congressional Districts. My guess is that they've never even had to consider this rule in the past since so the states didn't care and the status quo always prevailed.

I think a Lawyer would destroy that phony neocon excuse in 3 seconds.

Rule 38 is irrelevent

Because the states get around it by leaving some special delegates unbound so the state is not voting as a BLOCK. These unbound delegates are the party leaders. From what I understand thou is the penalty for breaking your bound oath is that you just cant be a delegate in the future at the state party's discretion. But in states like Alaska where the new chairman of the state party will be a Ron Paul supporter this may not be an issue... but doesn't that make us just like them...

Wrong it clearly says state

Wrong

it clearly says state OR congressional disctrict

so if they leave 3 state leaders unbound they still WILL be imposing the unit rule by congressional district which is against the rules

To arms! To arms! The Redcoats are coming!

No it does not, you are

No it does not, you are incorrect and so is Ben.

Rule 38 only implies to the unit rule. the unit rule is defined as follows : A rule of procedure at a national politcal convention under which a state's entire vote must be cast for the candidate preferred by a majority of the state's delegates.

The key word here is ENTIRE, no state ever makes their entire delegates vote the same, thus the unit rule does not apply.

Sorry to tell you, but you

Sorry to tell you, but you are wrong; while the Unit Rule does say what you have written, the RNC Rules applies the Unit Rule to not only the entire State but also districts -meaning that a district which has to vote a certain way -as a unit- is understood to be bound under the Unit Rule and therefore Rule 38 alleviates that necessity by its wording to include Congressional districts, not just on the entire State delegation.

GOP 2008 Rules Adopted

RULE NO. 38

Unit Rule
No delegate or alternate delegate shall be
bound by any attempt of any state or Congressional
district to impose the unit rule.

It doesn't make us like them because.....

...if we have 1145 Ron Paul delegates, than we are the onces who make the rules for the party. These aren't laws, they are just rules of a private organization. If we are the majority at the convention, why should we play by the rules of the people who were at the convention last year, or 4 years ago. The delegates ARE the party, and if we have 1145 Ron Paul people, then we are the party and we make the rules.

Free market capitalism isn't right for America because it works better. It's right because it's free (and it works better).
