Great story about Neil Young and Stephen Stills!

Yes, the anti-war Boomers were the voice of conscience back then. I simply wish more of them today remembered those times and realized that very little has changed. More of them should join the rEVOLution.

21 now... Were there riots or protests after? Or was it simply blown over? And if you don't mind me asking and bringing up a bad memory, do you think the low reaction to it was due to the lack of media that is available now, obviously not referring to MSM...

42 years ago today

I was 28 when this occured. I couldn't believe that this was happening in my country. It changed my life forever and I will never forget the horror I felt at that time. I felt the same horror with WACO. We desperately need Ron Paul to lead us out of this madness and bring liberty back to the US.

Yes, there were...especially at the 1972 GOP Convention...

Keep in mind that many supported Nixon's actions. There were those that supported the War in Vietnam and the bombing of Cambodia. Not unlike today with the War on "Terror."

Me, I voted for George McGovern because he was anti-war.

Tin soldiers and Nixon coming

"Ohio"

Tin soldiers and Nixon coming,
We're finally on our own.
This summer I hear the drumming,
Four dead in Ohio.

Gotta get down to it
Soldiers are cutting us down
Should have been done long ago.
What if you knew her
And found her dead on the ground
How can you run when you know?

You beat me to it!

Actually, no. The "hippies"

Actually, no. The "hippies" were in total shock. It was the effective beginning of our apathy. Life was very important to us. At the time, it was an anti=war movement, not a fight for liberty. We did not want to give up our lives for it. There were a few protests, but somehow our hearts were not in it. We got scared.

Yes,

it worked. Kill a few of "them" and the rest will go away. I dropped out of active politics and went back to the land. Such a tragic day.

Yes, it certainly had a dampening effect on many...

but most of us never gave up. We just got a lot quieter. The anti-war movement took many shapes and forms - now it is the rEVOLution.

The public reaction to Waco was similarly

apathetic. A minority got it and were outraged and radicalized. But most people just shook their heads in sadness and got on with their lives, perhaps more submissive than ever.

BUMP

It's awesome that they aren't forgotten.

I'm a naturalized citizen and

I'm a naturalized citizen and in college, love this country to death, my parents remember this from when they immigrated here decades ago. Very sad, and will always remember.
