In this interview with lecturer Charles Goyette I heard the best explanation of repealing legal tender laws as advocated by Ron Paul I have ever heard, in answer to a callers question at minute 27.

The part about enforcing contracts in terms of the method of payment contracted made it click.

Second thing that strikes me is you can't be afraid of freedom if you allow people the freedom to select the currency they think has value. That's very fundamental. I think a lot of people in politics are afraid of freedom. Ron Paul has been on the vanguard on that, and really has faith in people.
