Marquette County Michigan Delegate Convention

Here is my county convention story (Marquette County Michigan):

Due to our collective ignorance, we (the RP People) entered the room en masse and a little late. The reaction of the regular party members was an audible gasp as we just doubled the size of the committee. (They must have known who we were.) After getting seated, the speaker said there is a sheet going around; if you want to be a delegate, sign it. When he got the sheet back he verified the precinct of each person who signed it. He then said that there were only 12 slots and 14 sign ups and asked for volunteers to be alternatives, two people volunteered. After that, he asked if someone wanted to motion to elevate all nominees to permanent precinct delegate status, Dooren Takalo, a Republican icon in our area, made the motion and after being seconded, it passed unanimously. That was it.

Ron Paul's name was never mentioned during the meeting (neither was Romney's), no one wore any candidate regalia at all, not even one button. The regular party members never questioned us, they were elated to have us. I believe this is the first time they had a full slate of delegates.

When I sensed that the speaker was about to end the meeting I spoke up and made a motion to adjourn, they loved it; a new member was already making motions (to adjourn at that, the highest level motion.)

Our county will send twelve delegates and two alternates to the next level (Congressional District). I know that at least nine of the twelve delegates are RP supporters, as are the two alternates. Either way, we will all be on the same bus for about 8 hours and by the time we get there all of us will be Ron Paul delegates.

Rides for Ron Paul - Sign up even if you are not planning to attend the convention.

Good job. Great story.

DaYooper "conversion" bus ride will be a lot of fun.
You GO Tampa, Hey?
Be kind, they will come around... HEY?
(I married a yooper from Marquette and I grew up in Oconto).
I'm Extra proud of you guys.

I would love to be on a bus with a bunch of RUMMY MSMers

I would call it a wake up ride and we would have long talks about Federal Reserve private bank corporation and how the national debt is dirived. We would have heart to heart talks about tax is theft and its more of a control mechinism that it is a tool to finance social programs. We would go over History and talk about what realy started the world wars well all wars. We could have a talk about the MSM, Polls, Elections, vote, lol it would be a great time. Pretty much the same as every human I come into contact with gets.

Now thats funny. Wont be before long when someone makes a video about zombies or borg and Paul people. "Gasp! They have converted them!"

Just keep in mind not to go overboard and be gentle when turning the others.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

By showing up you did the leadership a favor.

Sending a full slate of delegates with alternates to State Convention is a measure of their success as County Chair.

If we become familiar with the rules, we can guard against our numbers being used against us.

Well Done, Marquette!

Free includes debt-free!

...Until the RNC realizes most of them were Ron Paul delegates.

We recieved the same

We recieved the same welcoming from the regulars. They were excited to send so many to state. The chairman mentioned that 1 year the whole u.p. wore hunting hats at the convention. It is going to be a long bus ride.

Wow,

that was inspiring, thanks. (I wish they all went that way - well on second thought it does get a little exciting to see some "fireworks" before the winning - but this works too!!!)
