How can you understand so much yet...

understand so little.

"There simply aren't enough anti-war conservatives within the Republican Party to justify the energy that Paul generates around the issue," (excerpt from the article)

I had a lengthy debate on FB with ex-Santorum supporters now turned (predictably) into Romney supporters. I told one woman that the cost estimate for a conflict with Iran, ala Iraq, was about 4 trillion. She believes that this is not only acceptable but desirable because "we have to get them before they get us, those people are crazy and will do anything"

I'm quickly coming to the conclusion that some people will never get it and are beyond all attempts at reasoning.

Debt is debt. It must be dealt with at some time...either you pay that debt down or you go bust. It's really as simple as that. Krugman and this woman must believe that the sky is the limit and that we can achieve and maintain debt/GDP ratios like Japan and that everything will somehow work itself out. At what point do you stop spending, whether its on a new war, a new social program or another pork project?

I always convert them

that that's what talk radio wants you to think, but they are not coming after us. Talk radio also said a nuke would be exploded on US soil within 6 months of Obama taking office and that we would have multiple radical Islam attacks on US Soil once Obama took office - nothing happened because they are scare tactics.

Brick Walls

I couldn't agree more with this statement:

"I'm quickly coming to the conclusion that some people will never get it and are beyond all attempts at reasoning."

It is a waste of time to try and change these people, more can be accomplished by talking to people who are open minded and looking for something positive to believe in, who need and want to be educated, and I think there are plenty of those out there. This is what we should focus on, those stubborn ones who refuse to see the obvious should not use up any of your precious energy that could instead be spent on someone else who isn't brainwashed.

I've tried to talk to friends who will not see it, who focus on little things that won't matter for spit when the country bankrupts, I'm done wasting my time. Moving on to people who are reasonable but just don't know the facts.

You are both right

You and NY4RP are spot on. We've all reached the same conclusion. Sadly, the type of people you've identified seem especially prone to consider themselves politically astute for "recognizing" the disparity between the two parties - when the truth is, as we RP supporters KNOW, there's absolutely NO difference. BOTH the Dem.s and Republicans are on a course to destroy our country with their central economic planning and out of control spending. BOTH are out to destroy our liberties. Try to tell that to brainwashed people and they think you're a nut!

When the American spirit was in its youth, the language of America was different: Liberty, sir, was the primary object. - Patrick Henry

And this is exactly why

all the major party rhetoric on both sides is FEAR MONGERING.

Many people will not understand the issues.
But EVERYBODY understands an existential threat. So, if they fabricate an existential threat, the people get scared, and react like you described above.

Bush, as stupid as he was, made a BRILLIANT propaganda statement when he said, "You're either with us, or you're with the terrorists". It was something that even the most moronic drooling zombie could grasp. And that was the brilliance of it, and we're still paying the price today for Bush's treachery.

Pretty Accurate

Might even convince a few people to take another look at our campaign.

What do you think? http://consequeries.com/

let's light up that comment section...

there's a lotta haters on there... time to educate em.

"sometimes I hug the coffee table when no one is looking."

Not Half Bad

..especially from a "brit", most of whom are known for possessing a "dry" sense of humor...
I also get the sense that he may be a "lurker" here at the DP.
So stick around Mr Stanley..You ain't seen nothin' yet!

honestly i think that article

honestly i think that article was MOSTLY positive. there were some digs, but if you're not an 'inbedded journalist' like all of US then, i can completely understand the cynical nature. By normal standards, and under normal circumstances, a candidate couldn't come back from this, and it will take extra-ordinary effort and quite a bit of luck for RP to scrape and claw his way out from under the blackout and make it happen. given those assumptions, this writer was very positive about the liberty movement in general and our ability to affect real change going forward.

World Net Daily running a Paul vs Romney Poll now.

Show our numbers. Pick up some support from their readership who I can't see being in love with mittens http://extras.wnd.com/polling/10042_Mitt_Romney_vs._Ron_Paul...

All WND really wants is your email address so they can

advertise their "stuff".

Letting WND die would be a good thing. They've been pretty thoughly shown to not be what they appear this last year.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

Not even sure why I clicked on the link and read it...

EVERY article ever written about Ron Paul on either CNN or Fox has been intention to discredit and shun Ron Paul. EVERY ONE.

Back in the day after any of the debates or any big news was breaking about the candidates, you would always see articles with big time name dropping for Romney, Santorum, Perry, Cain, Gingrich, Bachmann, Huntsman, & Pawlenty. (Not much for Gary Johnson either)

For Ron Paul however, it's pretty much... "Oh yeah, and that Ron Paul guy was there."

It's just a bunch of AP garbage. The AP wants to protect the Fed. Reserve just as much as Fox & CNN want to.

This guy is actually very responsive on Twitter

I engaged him in a friendly, 140-character conversation. After I while, I asked him: "In 140 characters do u have any idea why no 1 is covering the Paul rallies? If he has no chance how is that not newsworthy?"

This is his response:

20h Tim Stanley ‏ @timothy_stanley

@BtwnUnemploymnt Depressingly, there's a fear within the MSM of being labelled someone who reports on RP. Media consensus always dismissive

ask him

how Ben Swann is doing.

"The two weakest arguments for any issue on the House floor are moral and constitutional"
Ron Paul

ohh they don't understand how hungry people are for truth

do they? They have to start reporting on this. My thought is that they are ruining their careers by proving the bias and disregard for the truth. And people who do not know it yet, will soon enough.

Oxford????

It says the author is an Oxford grad. Does he mean Oxford Arkansas high school?
If you were a hillbilly you would find that very amusing hehehe

Na, he's actually one of Telegraph UK's better scribes.

LOL and yes, he's a genuine Oxford Grad.

http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/author/timstanley/

Plus, he has always been fair (as MSM can be) to the Doc and the R3VOL; he long abandoned "isolationist!' smear long ago and now readily uses 'non-interventionist,' for starters.

Smart chap, as Britons would say.

"Let it not be said that no one cared, that no one objected once it's realized that our liberties and wealth are in jeopardy." - Dr. Ronald Ernest Paul

Yeah, he's pretty smart, but

Yeah, he's pretty smart, but cynical.

It's not really cynical

It's called a "dry" sense of humor.
I've seen a number of BBC TV shows..comedies.
I had a tough time figuring out what they were laughing at! LOL!
