Andrew Napolitano: The President’s Private War

by Andrew P. Napolitano, May 05, 2012

Did you know that the United States government is using drones to kill innocent people in Pakistan? Did you know that the Pakistani government has asked President Obama to stop it and he won’t? Did you know that Pakistan is a sovereign country that has nuclear weapons and is an American ally?

Last week, the Obama administration not only acknowledged the use of the drones; it also revealed that it has plans to increase the frequency and ferocity of the attacks. White House counterterrorism adviser John O. Brennan argued that these attacks are "in full accordance with the law" and are not likely to be stopped anytime soon.

Brennan declined to say how many people were killed or just where the killings took place or who is doing it. But we know that Obama has a morbid fascination with his plastic killing machines, and we know that these machines are among the favored tools of the CIA. We also know that if the president had been using the military to do this, he’d be legally compelled to reveal it to Congress and eventually to seek permission.

I'm a lot more worried about

I'm a lot more worried about what's going on in/with Pakistan than the situation with Iran, frankly.

This blood is on all our hands

if we don't get this monster out of power. We need to be calling congressmen and senators daily demanding an end to these drone strikes!

Don't question it or you're

Don't question it or you're not a loyal American. Remember you're either on our side or the terrorists side.

Saracasm, obviously. Great post LL!

Absolute despotism

is alive and well in the USA. If the gangsters named "government" claim the right to kill anyone, anytime, anywhere in the world, then let us have no more idle talk of "inalienable rights." The power claimed by the gang is unlimited. If you believe that YOU, and not the "government" owns your life -- if you believe that you are a free person, rather than a slave -- then the first step of your liberation is to free your mind of the superstition that our so-called "government" has any legitimate right to rule your life. They do not. The only thing that distinguishes "government" from any other criminal gang is their victims' belief that the gang's depredations are somehow rightful. Ayn Rand called it "the sanction of the victim." Once your mind is free of that superstition, you discover that you owe NOTHING to the gang but eternal enmity.

But...we're still the freest

But...we're still the freest country in the world right? I mean, Mike Huckabee and Toby Keith both agree...

More agreement

The Judge on the Supreme Court

...in fact, sigh, if only all Supreme Court Justices (for life) were like him. What a difference that would make.

fonta

Ron Paul for President's picture

Ron Paul should pick the Judge for VP and ANNOUNCE IT

Why not?

As far as I am concerned, the Judge is next in line. This would give the Judge the showcase to continue the fight based on his fidelity to the constitution, integrity, and humility.

Dr. Paul even mentioned him and only him publicly early on when he was first asked the question.

my guess is this

Is the Judge still employed by Fox? As long as he still receives a paycheck from them I can't see him being able to officially join the race. It'd be a major conflict of interest. Wasn't that why Palin and Newt ended their paid appearances on Fox?

"Loyalty's worth more than wealth...in a world where...people be all for self."

I agree

There would be lots of media coverage.
It would be a powerful statement.

Thanks for a bump.
