Question about Michigan state convention
Submitted by Sir Andrew Thomas on Sun, 05/06/2012 - 15:12It appears the campaign is busy trying to contest some counties where seated delegates didn't show up, yet were allowed to go to convention. So by Thurday, deadline to contest, they will have 1 week until State conventions. All the paul supporters I am in contact with are pretty new to this, so we are all a little clueless. Michigan is split into 14 congressional districts. My district has 32 counties and we are all spread out. Since Santorum won my district wouldn't our national delegates be unbound? Here is a link to state gop. Friday we caucus with our district:
The delegates and alternates to the State Convention shall caucus in fourteen (14) congressional district caucuses
electing one (1) Convention Vice Chair (to preside as Chair of the District Caucus)
•
electing one (1) Assistant Secretary (to serve as Secretary of the District Caucus)
•
electing three (3) National Convention delegates
•
electing three (3) National Convention alternate delegates

So we need to make sure that our 3 national delegates are paul friendly or Santorum friendly, right. You do have to fill out a presidental preference form to be a national delegate. So say a paul supporter wrote that he would vote for Santorum, then what? Any one in district 1 should be working together now to forulate a plan I would assume. There isn't a real organization up here in the woods!!! Just looking for any useful input...

I mostly was wondering since Santorum won my district would our national delegates be unbound. The wording was that a candidate must reach 15 percent threshold to receive winner take all delegates per congressional district. Ron paul did not get over 15 percent, does that factor?
You need to get a hold of Ron
You need to get a hold of Ron Paul state campaign they will lead you.
To arms! To arms! The Redcoats are coming!
I am in contact with them.
I am in contact with them. They will be busy for the next few days according to the state coordinator. It is all happening so fast there isn't much time to prepare. 12 more days, and 32 counties, that is a lot of realestate.
