What's going on? Is Rand Paul being sarcastic in this interview or did he just admit that Ron Paul is unlikely to win?

I can't see how this interview is good for Ron Paul. "I don't know if Ron Paul will endorse Romney" Doesn't sound good.

To what extent is Rand even involved with the campaign? I know he's done some rallies, but from his answer he sure seems out of the loop.
Either way I wouldn't think too much of it. The campaign, and Rand are hedging their bets. They have done so from the beginning. Politically it's not smart for Rand to associate with his dad too much anyway.

Rand didn't sound like he was joking
However, I feel like Ron has also said it was unlikely he would win the nomination as well. Having said that, there is a part of me that wonders if any of this is a tactic to keep Romney supporters from voting ("Why bother? We've already won."). We know the Ron Paul supporters will vote though. Who knows?
I do think that if the convention goes to a 2nd round that we'll have a real shot at winning this thing (at least that's my impression from reading/hearing about our delegate count).

Romney thought he had this all wrapped up with all the international bankers backing him. In addition; "The Fed" favors Obama or Romney and fears a possible President Paul. I am not worried about what Rand Paul said.

Neil is talking the nomination, Ron Paul is taking the party
and I did not get the same impression that many of you did. He said thousands are showing up to see RP, the "won't win" statement was pointing out the support for RP even though the "impression" is he won't win. Conversely why are thousands showing up at rallies if he can't win? When Neil said he has not won a state, Rand points out RP has taken over several state delegations. Rand is a tad subtle, I guess he could have said: Neil you idiot, your not keeping up with current events, he is in the process of taking over the whole Republican party. I would say that is winning in the broadest definition of the term. They still don't know there is a revolution going on, when its over Ron Paul will own the Republican party.

...and the many Jewish friends of Ron Paul as well as our own friends and I have many. Some of the greatest intellectuals in the Libertarian Party as it once stood are fervent supporters of Dr. Paul. There are many Jewish supporters who have never been a part of the Libertarian Party...they just believe in liberty and equal rights for all.

Of course for brainwashed people "reality" is something relative, so I see Rand putting himself in the shoes of the audience he is speaking to.
Don't forget this is not an audience of DP awaken minds, but people who have not even heard of Ron Paul. Remember Howard Stern back in 2008?
So if you watch Foxnews regularly and every night you are being brainwashed with "trustworthy" "news" (read "propaganda"), and once every two weeks they mention Ron Paul who "can never win" and is called all kinds of names and labels. What would you think when the son of Ron comes on and says "Yes, Ron Paul has a good chance of winning."
I think that Rand is doing the right thing. I don't have an explanation of his awkward friendship with Hannity, but that's fine as long as the bridges remain in tact.
