Lunch Break Cop Experience

I was stopped at a red light with my big Ron Paul magnet on the driver's side door of my car. I felt some eyes staring at me from the left. I looked over to see two cops in a cop car giving me two thumbs up. #Winning

THAT IS SO COOL!

Great story...esp. given the MEAC report.

"Truth is an absolute defense to the charge of paranoia."

In my experience

the way one is treated by police officers largely depends on where you live, what you look like and how you conduct yourself.

When I was a long haired teenager growing up in NH every cop I met was a power-tripping ego maniac. Now that I'm middle aged and clean cut in NC every cop I meet is kind and professional.

Dr. Paul teaches us to look at people as individuals not as groups. Cops are just people. Some are attracted to the power of the position and some genuinely want to serve and protect.

When you have a job where you deal with criminals and bottom feeders day in and day out, year after year, I would imagine that it could taint your perception of humanity. Even the good intentioned can become corrupted by the system.

Jesus said that when you measure a man, measure him at his best. Always look to the good in people and it makes it easier for them to become that.

"Cops are just people." Thank you! Your post is full of wisdom.

I don't get it

How can any cop, who makes his living stealing money from others, be a Ron Paul supporter? That makes no sense and Ron Paul supporters are all about common sense.

And don't kid yourself, I have enough "former cop" friends that tell me what the cops do. All of them! They have an expression: two before noon. Meaning at least two citations before noon towards their quota.

Why would they support Ron Paul when all they would need to do to address the problems of an abusive state is quit their jobs and find productive new ones?

It makes no sense whatsoever. I don't buy it. It's like the politicians that stand in front of you and tell you how the gov't has let you down. LOL. You are the gov't asshole! Just more bullshit.

Voted down

Bad post... Not all cops are bad. Actually I would venture to say that majority are not, and there are those few minority bad apples that we all know about. I had a case of vandalism near my house (saw some kids trying to break into someone's car in the middle of the night) a few weeks ago - I dialed 911 and they showed up within a minute or so busting their dumb asses. Afterwards one of the cops talked to me to get the info (they require that in case of trial, etc) and I chatted with him for a bit and afterwards we thanked each other and they were on their way with the punks in the back of the police van. They were fast, professional and polite as most cops would be. A good number of them is out there doing their job because they don't want to see their communities torn down by crime and violence. The only time cops become a problem is when politicians make so many things a crime that you have to start hiring en-mass just to be able to keep up with the number of "law-breakers". That's when you have police state with a bunch of losers applying and getting jobs in law enforcement. Ultimately it's the politicians that make cops the enemies - as long as the definition of crime is limited to "malum in se" crimes most cops will be productive and important members of society.

Maybe they are trying to

Maybe they are trying to change the system from within instead of just giving up and letting some A-hole take their place....JUST LIKE DR PAUL HAS BEEN DOING FOR DECADES.

Personally I'd rather have a RP supporter on the force than not.

There are good cops

get rid of your negative attitude why don't ya? Take a lesson from Doug Wead!!! Things are going our way!!

People in position of authority...

that aprove of Dr. Paul and his constitutional beliefs, are definately the kind of people we need in those positions.
Thanks for the good report!

ha ha....I gave a thumbs up

ha ha....I gave a thumbs up to a guy a couple weeks ago because of his Ron Paul bumper sticker. At first, he looked at me like I was crazy until he finally heard me. ha ha. Don't cause any wrecks out there like I almost did! ha ha.

Thumbs up for Ron Paul!

Thanks for sharing your story!

Do you live in San Diego?

There's a local with a large magnet on the driver side door.

They that give up liberty for security deserve neither.

Nope LA. I guess there are

Nope LA. I guess there are *two* of us out there. lol

Good to know,

keep it up!

They that give up liberty for security deserve neither.

You ran into peace officers, not law enforcers.

Big difference.

# winning

True law enforcers are indeed peace officers when they live by the Constitution, law enforcement are supposed to be peace officers. Others are just the same as law breakers when they do not abide by our Constitution. We don't need pessimism while we are trying to win, we already have the establishment for that.

Last week my fiance and I

Last week my fiance and I were driving out to Gander Mt. A van pulls up a lane over from me at the thruway exit honking and waving out the window. Figured it was some irate driver complaining about something or another... nope he was yelling "Ron Paul!" with thumbs up. Love fellow enthusiastic supporters!

I pictured cops straight out of Reno 911 after

I read your post. lol

I guess I have a hard time believing real cops would do that in the age of The Police State.

I am a cop too.

Whenever appropriate I usually will talk to people about my support of Dr. Paul. As an officer I support ending the TSA, war on drugs, and the wars overseas. The tide is changing. I have political discussions with co-workers all the time and they generally agree. In many circumstances cops are good people stuck in bad agencies. I tell people all the time its not necessarily the cops but the laws we all should have a problem with. No law no cop. Anywho, I go to work everyday remembering who I work for. I work for the people who live in my city and not a chief, mayor, or congressman. My goal is the restoration of the Constitution and nothing else. I am an individual first and a cop second. For liberty!

For Liberty!

So you're the one good cop left...

...cheers.

There are such things as good

There are such things as good cops. Not a majority, but they're out there.

Any cop that writes a single

Any cop that writes a single citation for a law that violates one's rights is not a "good cop". If he's ever written a citation for speeding, driver's license, registration, insurance, not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign etc... he has violated that person's rights as a free person and has committed a crime. Law enforcement is just that: enforcing the law even when the law violates our rights, which means it's wrong. A peace officer is one who protects our rights. Two completely different things.

Every police department in this country is expected to generate the lion's share of its budget from citations (ie; violating our rights). I know this because I worked in the budget office for the state of Florida, estimating revenue for the Florida Highway Patrol. That was my first lesson in the criminal behaviour of the state.

Therefore, any cop participating in that practice is not a good cop, and all cops participate. The only good cop is the cop that has the courage and moral character to quit and become a productive member of society.

Recon...

... is an important element of a successful r3volution.

I appreciate good cops, and can even sympathize with their position (as a former Fe'ral employee myself). Good cops exercise a great deal of discretion in the fulfillment of their duties, and are a net benefit for life and liberty. Some human pustules need to have their heads slapped around in circles, and often, a traffic infraction can be a convenient excuse for getting their attention, or maybe even getting them off the road.

experience

I was recently driving my friend's car and was pulled over. Cop said license plate was too dirty to read. He went to front of car to read plate - no plate there!

I got out and rubbed spit on the rear plate to clean it. It has a cover that obscures it so only half can be seen at a time (to prevent photo radar tickets being mailed).

Cop strongly suggested I take the cover off. Verbal warning.

Car has multiple Ron Paul 2012 stickers, along with End The Fed.

No joke, my car has very dark

No joke, my car has very dark limo tints on it that people usually get hassled for. Since 2007, which is when I put my RP sticker on it, I have not been pulled over once. Phear me :D

Good to hear

The world would probably be a much better place if we had more LE officers like you.

Hey "E", I Voted For Your Guy Ron Paul!

One of my bosses, Ian, came in this morning before i went home and said, "I voted for your guy Ron Paul."

I was stunned because he always said, "Ron Paul can't win because no one knows him.."

I said, Ian, "I have been discussing politics and Ron Paul with you all year and you know that Ron Paul is our only hope for America, why do you not want to vote for someone who can do the job well and undo the mess that was created by the last several presidents?"

He said he thought about all the things we had talked about and changed his mind and voted for Ron Paul.

Finally, as I was walking out the door to go home he exclaimed, "E", I can't stand Romney. He is such as wimp!

Man, i can't tell you how good I felt hearing that..

Don't believe the hype

Chances are pretty good that they were mocking you.
