What does "a speaking role at the convention" really mean?

Does it just mean Ron Paul gets heard and then forgotten about? Or does it somehow force Romney to incorporate some of Ron Paul's ideas into his platform? I can't imagine that would be binding and we know he treats getting the Republican nomination as an "etch-a-sketch" to be wiped away in the general election. So, basically, would a speaking role amount to anything significant?

(I'm not saying it won't, by the way. I just have never really followed politics closely until Ron Paul and am legitimately asking).

Its something to sound

Its something to sound important, but then they can ignore you.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

It is to soothe egos. That's what it is all about.

The only people who pay attention to the speaker if they are a losing candidate are their supporters. Nobody pays attention to them unless it is media to criticize or make fun of them.

IMO it means nothing

They would offer Ron Paul a speaking slot, maybe not even well-placed in the schedule, maybe not even prime time;
THEN THEY WOULD INTERRUPT it and move on to something else!

Do they think we are stupid?

another dressing for a lie

that is what it is! It is yet another way to distort the image of Ron Paul and his campaign and his followers.

Below is a link to a new MUST read article - do not buy any lies that confuse you before you read it.

RON PAUL IS IN TO WIN! HE IS RUNNING TO BE THE PRESIDENT OF THE USA. AND YOU MUST DO ALL YOU CAN DO TO GET HIM TO THE WHITE HOUSE. JUST DO YOUR JOB AND NEVER GIVE UP! CHEERS!

Ron Paul ... forever.

The only speech I want to

The only speech I want to hear from Dr. Paul in Tampa is his acceptance speech as the nominee. Then Mittens can have a speaking slot.

All the other presumptive front runners failed

I am sure MR will get enough delegates to speak at Convention in Tampa. Good time for a potty break.

Free includes debt-free!

a speaking role isn't enough for us!

We deserve better, and we'll get it! And hell no, we could NEVER trust Mittens enough to endorse him, no matter what he says, he'll just go back on his word later. Mitt has no conviction or integrity. We're gonna have to go all PIRATE on these mofos! ARRRRGGGHHH Mateys! The Revolution is Tampa bound! Let's sink this GOP ship of fools!

Agreed

We have come too far to "settle" for a little speech. This economy is in shambles and could easily fall apart by the next election.

If they televise it in prime

If they televise it in prime time it could be a big deal. Remember, Obama's speech at the convention won him the Presidency years later.

"If"

If it would be a big deal to televise it in prime time then the MSM probably WON'T televise it in prime time. Or else they'll play Romney's speech and then a couple of lines from Dr. Paul's speech that they deem the most innocuous.

Exposure is good.

Influencing the party with leverage, at that level, is beyond my experience. I will speculate that the status quo facing off agianst determined intellectuals with growing numbers causes beyond uncomfortable.

Will Dr. Paul even get exposure?

The MSM ignored him for months in the debates. Why would the convention be any different?
