By Anne Gearan - The Associated Press via Marine Corps Times
May 9, 2012

WASHINGTON — Support for the war in Afghanistan has reached a new low, with only 27 percent of Americans saying they back the effort and about half of those who oppose the war saying the continued presence of American troops in Afghanistan is doing more harm than good, according to an AP-GfK poll.

In results released Wednesday, 66 percent opposed the war, with 40 percent saying they were “strongly” opposed. A year ago, 37 percent favored the war, and in the spring of 2010, support was at 46 percent. Eight percent strongly supported the war in the new poll.

The view from Canada: The Afganistan and Pakistan Invasion

Our government has committed our troops and tax dollars to a war none of us in Canada want.

It has nothing to do with defending or protecting our nation. It was and is about OIL and other rich resources in the Middle East.

In Canada many are losing jobs and services are being cut. We are asked to accept austerity measures while our tax dollars are used to protect an oil pipeline that runs right through Afghanistan and Pakistan.

"The REAL reasons behind The US led invasion of Afghanistan and Pakistan"

That 27%

Just isn't on some US army heroin yet. All US soldiers should refuse to fight. The soviets did. They went AWOL in Afghanistan and walked away. They went to pakistan, some went to known CIA places on the border between pakistan and Afghanistan, some just left on their own and never made any contact. I heard some even went as far as China and india. But American soldiers prefer to stay and kill innocent people.

to be fair...

american soldiers want to come home, for all its shittyness the USA is still the least craptacular place in the world. The Russians that dipped probably didn't really want to leave in a soviet shit hole to begin with so they didn't mind the downside of going AWOL.

I just had epiphany ......we used to have the illusion of choice.......this number tells me that they now have the illusion of control.

Read the free illustrated free book at www.addictedtowar.com and see who has and will continue to benefit from these wars. When you will find when the U.S.talks about terrorism, they must include themselves. Our government has trained, armed, supplied and put more dictators in power than any other nation. Why does China not have bases in other countries like the U.S.which has Embassies and bases in 150+ countries? 'military men are just dumb stupid animals to be used as pawns in foreign policy." Henry Kissinger. "America buys war like children gobble candy." Henry Kissinger.Congressman Ron Paul has repeated the same warnings our founders gave in their speeches and letters over and over to a mostly brain washed public, by the corporate controlled news media, of which millions seem to be incapable of critical thinking. What is the fastest growing religious sects in America today. Islam with as of 2011, there were 2,106 Mosques. The second is Mormonism and the last is Protestants.Congressman Paul has spoken of the danger and destructive power of the Fed in his book, END THE FED. We need to place the blame where the blames lies.millions of ignorant citizens. All 187 countries that belong to the IMF of which the U.S.taxpayer is the largest contributor, all have a central bank.Myer Ancshel Rothschild," Permit me to issue and control the money of a nation and i care not who makes the laws.i am sure few will read The Creature from Jekyll Island by G. Edward Griffin but Congressman Paul said," A superb analysis.Be prepared for one heck of a journey through time and mind." I would be shocked if many read it because most citizens would do go to read a newspaper. Research seems to be a lost art in America.out of 435 in the House and 100 in the Senate you can in all probability count the number of statesman on one hand. The rest are politicians and as such have only their self interest and not the American peoples best interest in mind.We have the Department of Injustice, A Supreme Court who doesn't base laws as to weather they are Constitutional or not but on their own interpretation of what the law means. One of the weakest congresses in history because they like things the way they are.A president who has ignored the Constitution in more than sixteen instances. a candidate in Mitt Romney who flip-flops like a fish out of water in platform after platform. Norah Webster: If we vote an immoral man into office we are a traitor to our country.Since Article 10# of the 13 Articles of Faith, in the Book of Mormons, say that Zion, the new Jerusalem is to be in America, does that mean that the Jewish people are wrong to want the Rock of the Dome replaced with the Temple since it is the original site of the former two temples? Obama showed where he stood when he said in The Audacity of Hope, a book he gave his inspiration for writing to the Rev, Jerimiah Wright, in which he said, "I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."Apparently, most voters weren't very informed or as the Nov. 05, 2008 exit polls showed were African-American and in that case would have made little difference.Random interviews across the nation showjust how ignorant many American citizens are when it comes to our government, their foreign and domestic policies, the Constitution, Articles of Confederation and the Declaration of independence.

This is a great Eye Opener as well:

New Zealand and Australia

are there too. New Zealand wouldn't go into Iraq, but was very quick to get into Afghanistan. We have lost 3 or 4 soldiers from our small contingent of SAS troops.
And for what??

So the CIA can have another

So the CIA can have another colony of course.

tasmlab's picture

Digress, Canadians at war too

I've been spending some time interviewing some officers from the Canadian military for a work-thing I'm doing and was surprised to find out that they are in Afghanistan too. I thought it was just us, and was a little surprised.

And I fancy myself pretty well-informed. Guess not :-\

Hopefully Canadian Ron Paul is picking up delegates too.

Hahaha...like anybody in the

Hahaha...like anybody in the government actually cares what the American people want. The average American has no more influence over their government than the average citizen of the Soviet Union did over theirs.

That number says

More then 2/3 want us out!

But we are suppose to believe that...

...Ron Paul is unelectable.

The overwhelming majority of the people want us the hell out of these immoral wars that have bankrupted us, and yet Dr. Paul is unelectable.

The sky is black at midday -- the government and media proclaims with a straight face, and the sheeple say, "it must be so..."

Mind control at its finest.

Well I say, let's win this thing. We need a revolution now.

May God bless this revolution, that the people may arise from the dust, from their slumber.

I don't think that the so called leaders or controllers lie just to try to trick and fool us, I believe they lie and deceive because they have to. I've concluded that its their very nature. Truth is beyond them. Out of reach.

Glad their days are numbered, the world is moving on and they are going to miss the ride...

Good riddance.

Hey Archons', we are taking our planet back and there's nothing you can do about it!

The Ground War

The ground war is just theatrics. Our sons are dying as a cover-up so that they can kill the REAL targets with drones. Sad but true.

Who are the real target the kids

I am not questioning you at all
but who are the target's my take it's the war profiteers pockets!
because it is winning hearts and minds in the middle east

this got sent to me also
It's the Greenwald guy but he makes sense

did anyone see the whistle blower report on the wars.

we aren't winning
if you have time read the report it's in PDF

Good read

TY for reposting the RollingStone. I saved this article the day it was published (it hit Drudge) and I have never seen it reposted or discussed since.
Where is he now?

We have now sunk to a depth at which restatement of the obvious is the first duty of intelligent men.

As more and more people abandon MSM propaganda...

...it's easier to see the truth. And that truth is that the US has lost the Afghan war and is desperately trying to show otherwise. But people are too well informed now. A degree in status quo education [indoctrination] is not necessary for this to make sense to people. You can educate YOURSELF far more than most Establishment Education Camps [Schools] can by simply getting online and looking to alternative press outside of MSM control, and gather your own information rather than being spoon-fed the Nightly News. The evidence is there that this has already become a normal practice as the plummeting ratings of major US television networks show.

This type of Paradigm Shift has never occurred on such a global level in recorded history so things seem very strange indeed. But whatever it is that's happening, this "Awakening" is working in amazingly positive ways. Keep your eyes and ears open for these false illusions we have already begun to shed. Many are left that will defend the OLD system, but WE greatly outnumber them.

"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience"—Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

Yes, We Win by going AROUND the media, not

THROUGH them. More and more people distrust the MSM (as ghey should) and that is good news for us!

Exactly Ninja!

A lot of people these days are actually "seeing" the truth and the higher vibratory levels are really starting to affect even those who aren't aware.

Many people I know, are feeling the positive affects. I don't want to sound "way out there" but I have noticed much more synchronicity and manifestations coming to fruition, quicker and more accurately.

The dinosaurs are fading away at last. I personally don't know many people who even watch the boob tube anymore and if they do they certainly see through the facade.

That being said, with the support for ALL wars being so low, the Satanic war mongers continue to gnash away against the peoples wishes, it should be enough to wake anybody up as to whom these pricks really serve.

Hey Archons', we are taking our planet back and there's nothing you can do about it!

And Waking up, they are!

Gnat60, glad to see another member resonating with the coming changes as you are :) Isn't it amazing how the momentum of positive change is increasing!? Micro to Macro, the changes are the same. No one can be shown the way, they must find it themselves. It's not that difficult is it? Once you "tune in", the veil isn't just lifted, it disintegrates! I cannot "stomach" the MSM, shows I used to watch, video games I used to play or even some of the aggressive music I used to listen to. It's now "too low" on my frequency channel ;) and causes too much discord. You're right, even those who do not yet see the truth in front of them, are beginning to "feel" it and the only way to "show them the way", is (as Ron Paul himself has said) to LEAD BY EXAMPLE.

BE the change you want to SEE in the World.

"We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience"—Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

Yet, Ron Paul is the "Fringe" Candidate...

It's utter Orwellian insanity...
