Bad for America, Bad for Israel, Bad for the World

Mr. Speaker: I rise in opposition to H.R. 4133, the United States-Israel Enhanced Security Cooperation Act, which unfortunately is another piece of one-sided and counterproductive foreign policy legislation. This bill’s real intent seems to be more saber-rattling against Iran and Syria, and it undermines U.S. diplomatic efforts by making clear that the U.S. is not an honest broker seeking peace for the Middle East.

The bill calls for the United States to significantly increase our provision of sophisticated weaponry to Israel, and states that it is to be U.S. policy to “help Israel preserve its qualitative military edge” in the region.

While I absolutely believe that Israel — and any other nation — should be free to determine for itself what is necessary for its national security, I do not believe that those decisions should be underwritten by U.S. taxpayers and backed up by the U.S. military.

This bill states that it is the policy of the United States to “reaffirm the enduring commitment of the United States to the security of the State of Israel as a Jewish state.” However, according to our Constitution, the policy of the United States government should be to protect the security of the United States, not to guarantee the religious, ethnic, or cultural composition of a foreign country. In fact, our own Constitution prohibits the establishment of any particular religion in the U.S.

i listened to a few minutes of congress people talking from the floor

they cant stop patting themselves on the back that they can come together on this partisan issue.

they would say things like" at a time where people say that those from the other side of the aisle oppose everything those of us on the right , we can come together on such a partisan issue and get it passed."

Called Roby's Montgomery office to ask why she is cosponsoring this. Got a lady that was clueless said she'll have someone write me a letter. Called the Washington office, listened to 3-4 minutes of Yankee Doodle, and God bless America. Got a young kid on the line and asked him the same. Asked why at a time that we are so far in debt why are we trying to finance another Nation's internal affairs, and why is she supporting giving up US Air Space to a Foreign Military. As President Obama stated on December 16, 2011, ‘America’s commitment and my commitment to Israel and Israel’s security is unshakeable.’. And as President Bush stated before the Knesset on the 60th anniversary of the founding of the State of Israel on May 15, 2008, ‘The alliance between our governments is unbreakable, yet the source of our friendship runs deeper than any treaty.’.

I would like to see the treaty or alliance please!

Just for the record, Israel's constitution does not define Israel as "Jewish State", only Neocons. do that, the examples of this is all over this bill.

I called my CON-gressmans office (John Carter-TX) who represents everyone but his constituents and asked for a WRITTEN RESPONSE that cites the official Alliance and/or TREATY between the U.S. and Israel.
