Texas - Addison vs. Cruz - What's the deal?

In following this political battle from afar, and mostly here on the DP, I'm confused about what is going on in this race. As far as I understand it, Addison endorses Ron Paul and Cruz does not. Yet a letter goes out from the Ron Paul camp endorsing Cruz. Am I missing something here?

I'm voting Cruz

Addison supports micro-chipping birth certificates to 'fix the illegal immigrant problem'. Cruz is a master of the Constitution and Austrian economics. Not to mention Cruz was endorsed by Ron and Rand Paul, and Jim DeMint. Notice that Cruz's campaign is focused on repealing or abolishing programs or legislation; Addison wants to put more in place.

Wrong Statements

WRONG: Notice that Cruz's campaign is focused on repealing or abolishing programs or legislation; Addison wants to put more in place.

Glenn Addison began his campaign 16 months ago stating strongly that he wanted to ABOLISH:
Reading from his campaign brochure:
Abolish unconstitutional agencies and departments: EPA, OSHA, NLRB, Agriculture, Commerce, Energy Education, HUD, Interior, Labor, Transportation.

During debates/forums last summer, Glenn Addison stressed the above as his policy...during that time Ted Cruz and Mr Leppert stated they wanted to REPEAL... the video exists of this stance of Mr. Addison.
Ted Cruz has now picked up this popular solution of Mr. Addison...especially when he can keep him off the same stage.
Please get your facts straight. Thanks.

Addison is really good but

Addison is really good but cannot win in the Senate race. He should run for congress in his district. We all need to unite behind Cruz. I think his deal on not endorsing Ron is this...to get support from Republican Establishment figures so he can beat Dewhurst. Dewhurst is our Lt. Governor so he has name recognition and is backed by big oil money. He is a moderate and it's suspected by some that he's corrupt as hell. So Cruz is at a big disadvantahe in that situation. He is not endorsing Dr. Paul because of that. He needs some establishment guys to come to his side so he can beat Dewhurst in a run-off election. Cruz is against the fed. I've read about this guy and heard good things about him. Some times in politics you have to compromise. Rand endorsed him.

"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeles

Dr. Paul could have

Dr. Paul could have compromised to win the election by changing his stance on foreign policy. You call it "compromising" - I call it selling out.

I refuse to vote for "more of the same." - He's establishment!

I agree

Cruz has already agreed to get behind Rand's TSA bill, too. The main thing at this point is not have anyone vote for Dewhurst so that we get to a runoff and we get behind whoever makes the runoff versus Dewhurst. Way too many candidates in this race.

unitl I see it on RPs campain website or..

hear him say it I'm not considering it as fact. RP ALWAYS lists his endorsements on his site.

He sent out an email

through his Liberty PAC.

He's endorsed via email Thomas Massie, Glen Bradley, Kurt Bills and Lee Bright. If you never donated to Liberty PAC, you will not get the Liberty PAC emails.

Looks like a coordinated effort to ignore Dr. Paul's endorsement

I see multiple topics with the same actors. You know, just as Romney inserted fake delegate slates to divide votes, fake candidates are also inserted into elections to do the same.

I'm not saying that is the case, but it is done.

In order to steal votes such a candidate naturally has to appear to say everything that is right.

Even though I feel like a

Even though I feel like a paranoid idiot, I have a call into LPAC and an email to the campaign for verification because of all the chatter.

Screw Ted Cruz.

He's another establishment candidate.

You can check out the cherry-picked stances for him here: http://www.tedcruz.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/Proven-Rec...

I'm voting Glenn Addison. I was also very confused about the endorsements. Ted Cruz is another right-wing neo-con and he's a Christian who believes in enforcing his morals rather than allowing people to exercise their freedom.

When I went to the rally in Houston I saw Glenn Addison in person. He didn't give me the impression that he was another fake - I also liked his political positions that I found - except that he's against free markets. But I can overlook that.

Praise for Cruz

We should like the idea that Cruz is attempting to court our vote.

Very Sad

Unfortunately Addison has no political organization. I believe he is a far superior choice but he has gotten the "Paul" treatment by the media in Texas. He wasn't even invited to the debate.

Texas is a huge state and it takes a lot of organization to cover the state. I had contacted his headquarters two days before the County conventions. They had no coordinator for Galveston County at that point.

I'm still voting for him.

Rand and Benton like Cruz and Used Ron

Addison stated in radio interview that Jesse Benton is blocking him from talking with Ron Paul.(remind you of Adam Kokesh?) Ron is out of the loop on this one. There is a controlled effort on Benton's part to keep him away from Paul. Rand is a sweetheart of the hijacked tea party. I know because they love him on gretawire blog-- and hate Ron. I think the tea party rally in Austin was more of a Cruz-Rand-Benton thing and they orchestrated the whole thing and used Ron Paul. That's my opinion. Lots of folk at rally were sick that Ron Paul shared the same stage with Cruz. He won't even endorse him. Ron Paul may not know anything about Glen Addison. Sad.

Bait and Switch?

Bait and Switch?

Who is Ted Cruz?

I have been researching Ted Cruz since last summer and I have found that he has many ties to one-world organizations. I have given this information to many conservative leaders in Texas; but it is being pushed aside because Dewhurst must be defeated.
But, who is the real Ted Cruz??? A globalist he is. Bilderberger money, wife and his law firm are CFR, and he represents a Chinese company appealing an American judgment to pay an American $26 million for stealing patents.

What I heard from boots on the ground here in TX....

From what I've gathered, Cruz has the best chance at beating Dewhurst, an obvious hack, and he's a friend of Rand's. Yes, Addison is better, but he's got no money or resources like Cruz. I think Cruz and Rand have worked together, and he also bridges the latino gap for the new GOP takeover happening as we speak.

About RP not endorsing Sherriff Mack, who happens to be running in my Congressional District against Lamar Smith, is that RP cannot endorse another Republican challenging a high ranking party leader like Smith or things would be even worse for him.

I'm not saying this is the case, but that's what I've heard from others who are close to the campaign.

I will never vote the lesser of two evils again!

YES, Dewhurt needs to be defeated. NO! Cruz should NOT be elected.

Glenn Addison - a KNOWN-to-be good man who is a Constitutional Conservative? Has an uphill battle because he doesn't have big Corporate MONEY behind him?

So, for whom do you think I will vote?!

GLENN ADDISON

And if that meant the TWO Paul Men declining Amy's invite? And NOT appearing with the Tea Party Express Rally crew? So be it! And it's the one Rally I've been able to attend...

Susie 4 Liberty

I'm still...

I'm still voting for Glenn, I'm just trying to understand the reasoning behind the endorsement of Cruz by the Pauls.

Cruz and Rand Friends? Worked together?

Can one explain how they are friends and what they worked together on? How is it that someone that lives in Kentucky has a close globalist friend in Texas? How is it that a Kentucky Senator (supposed to represent the STATE interest, not the peoples interest) works with a Texas Hack?

Sorry, this is a political chess game. No Cruz, No Dewwy. Addison is the man.

Based on their websites, neither... until...

Ted Cruz has no issues that I could find, upon which he is willing to speak boldly, 'raise his right hand in oath' for all the world to see, and unequivocally:

end unconstitutional wars,
bring home the troops,
end the Fed,
bring in sound money,
abolish the IRS and replace it with nothing,
refuse pensions,
return the money,
take no junkets,
refuse all lobbyist's 'pieces of silver'...
and you know the rest!

Glen Addison, though he appears to have copied most of Ron Paul's talking points, yet he waters them down, leaving out the punch lines, and craftily avoiding any 'oath to act' precisely to:

end unconstitutional wars,
bring home the troops,
end the Fed,
bring in sound money,
abolish the IRS and replace it with nothing,
refuse pensions,
return the money,
take no junkets,
refuse all lobbyist's 'pieces of silver'...
and you know the rest!

Both appear to be pandering to what now appears to be a large Ron Paul base in Texas...

Now that is good to see!

Bottom line is both candidates need to be approached, very publicly, and in front of the news media and cameras, asked to 'raise their right hand in oath', and state their precise intent to:

end unconstitutional wars,
bring home the troops,
end the Fed,
bring in sound money,
abolish the IRS and replace it with nothing,
refuse pensions,
return the money,
take no junkets,
refuse all lobbyist's 'pieces of silver'...
and you know the rest!

Only then will you really know their positions and their likely future votes!

They need to be made to take the stand on principle, with no more vagaries and lip service, for all the media and all the world to see!

Listen to his u-tube video presentations!

And you'll hear Glenn Addison make that declaration -
very c l e a r l y.

I hate to make this comparison but does...

Glenn = Paul & Cruz = Romney ????

Im not saying it is the correct annilogy but I cant get it out of my head.

Im very happy we are having this debate btw.

I have read a lot on Glenn and think he is great, but his candidacy has not taken off the way Cruz's has, idk why he hasnt recieved more endorsements but he hasent.

On the other hand, most of what I read about Ted Cruz is good as well, his speeches are great, what he says he stands for is very much in line with what I believe.

Cruz's record is a little problematic, and I have become a little weary of candidates whothey receive the amount endorsements Cruz has, reminds me of Rubio, and look how he turned out...

Not that Cruz is a Neocon like Rubio BUT, it looks like everyone is DYING to get their paws on him.

What I DO NOT WANT is a "Liberty Candidate" who really isnt. because then it will be really difficult to get him out and get a real one in....

sigh

Don't stop believing

Well, Goldman-Sachs likes Cruz

And I regret Glenn Addison hasn't had a groundswell of financial support from the PEOPLE - but I respect the fact that SOME entities did not/DO NOT support him...as in Big Corporate.

He's KNOWN to be a good man, and he intends to serve as a Citizen Representative - and not make a career out of it! Read his platform; watch his videos!

Addison has MY vote - and has had a very small donation...

Cruz won't do, and I was horrified that RAND endorsed him. Am still unaware the Ron Paul gave him his endorsement...

Well just because Ron and

Well just because Ron and Rand endorse him, doesn't mean we should not do our own research. And by the same token, I wouldn't automatically trust everyone who happens to endorses Ron without doing research too. Sometimes people read too much into endorsements.

I just hope he doesn't turn out to be Rubio 2.0. That is what the media is kinda saying...which means maybe it isnt true. If he turns out to be more like Lee or DeMint, who at least back Rand up sometimes, even if they don't quite go all the way...then I could accept that, if he has a very good chance to win. Cruz is certainly preferable to Dewhurst.

Susie 4 Liberty's picture

I have NOT seen/read that RON endorsed Cruz

And I believe Rand erred in doing so. (And have written him to that effect.)

Ron Paul sent out an email

through Liberty PAC.

Liberty PAC was the main organization before Ron officially announced he was running for President. Emails were sent out to those who donated to Liberty PAC.

I was wondering this as well.

I was wondering this as well. I was just flipping through the radio this afternoon and caught a couple of mins of Cruz on the Glenn Beck show. Well what else is new, Beck is back to pretending to be a libertarian/tea party guy, but I wasn't sure what to make of Ted Cruz. It did kind of confirm in my mind that the GOP establishment doesn't really care as much about the presidential race this year, but are focused on the Senate races (and probably attempting to block any liberty candidates attempting to make it in.

Principles vs Politics

Ron and Rand need the Tea Party for extra support and by endorsing the Tea Party's chosen candidate (they are trying to unite), I believe they were hoping to receive some Tea Party support themselves. Ted Cruz is not of the same ideology as the Paul's and therefore, will not receive my support. If we avoid voting for principle, our voice is lost to the Tea Party, who has already sold out on their principles, hence their support of Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry, and many for Mitt Romney. We should stand on principle, remember we are in the business of changing minds.
