Wow! WaPo: "It may be too late to stop Ron Paul's strategy"

By David A. Fahrenthold | The Washington Post
May 10, 2012

What, exactly, is Ron Paul up to?

The Texas congressman has, by all reasonable reckoning, lost his bid to be the Republican presidential nominee. Lost it big. In the GOP’s 35 primary and caucus votes, Paul has won as many as President Obama. Zero.

But now, Paul is using an unorthodox tactic to add more delegates to the national convention this summer. In Nevada, Maine, Massachusetts and elsewhere, his supporters have flooded the party’s snoozy state conventions — and then elected themselves to delegate slots.

That’s prompted a question now transfixing the GOP: What does Paul want?

At least this time they got

At least this time they got Romney's NV bound-delegate count right: 14, not 20.

Quote from Rasmussen article today

"They don’t care about floor speeches. This is a revolution. They’re taking the party. Then they’re taking the government so they can eliminate the Federal Reserve, the IRS, the domestic spy apparatus, the military-industrial complex, and every coercive federal power except for those enumerated by the Constitution."

I am sick of it

With these media hacks saying Paul is just doing this to get a speech at the convention, or because of Rand. It makes no sense. Do they really think Paul is fighting this hard to just get a few scraps? Hell no! He is going for the whole kill here. These people are insane. I mean he gives a speeech, so what? The neocons will just ignore it. He changes the platform? They will just do whatever the rich elite puppet masters tell them. Everything else except a Ron Paul nomination is completely useless. VP is just a powerless figurehead position.

Also I know the goal here is to play nice. But I hope you guys that are delegates do cause trouble at the convention. That convention does not belong to Romney and Paul has as much right to it as he does. Like I said before, just come out and admit that our elections are all a sham and Mitt has been appointed, prechosen. This is getting a little sickening and absurd.

I hear ya man

But they won't be laughing anymore when we get to Tampa! We're coming to bring back JUSTICE!

Don't bother clicking on the link... Negative info.

Another article that promotes misleading information, that the Paul campaign is employing sneaky, "unorthodox" strategies to win delegates. The author is spreading his own ignorance of the election process.

What I posted:

As a recently-elected Nevada national delegate, I have been witness to Romney's supporters' fraudulent behavior at the state convention. I will be studying the Rules thoroughly & if there is one iota of legality in being able to vote Ron Paul on the first ballot, I can assure you that the Nevada delegation will be solidly for Ron Paul on the 1st vote. We are SICK of Romney's tricks, cheating, and unethical behavior. The press better wake up and realize this is being directed right from the source - ROMNEY! If the media does not start covering these CRIMES, there will be repurcussions.

Why does Wead keep saying things

That give the impression that we just want a speech for Ron and a future run for Rand? Would it kill the campaign to talk like we're trying to win this thing?

I really think,

that Paul and Wead are both playing along so that the other side doesn't take TOO much notice until it's too late- which it is looking like it might BE by now. Slow and steady... be patient!

It might not kill the

It might not kill the campaign, but it will give the wolves ammo to try and kill the campaign. I don't believe that advertising an intent to nominate and elect RP as the RNC candidate--whether or not this is the goal--helps the cause. Those of us who support that goal will have the chance to work towards that in August. Why put the idea on the radar of the RNC establishment and the Romney people now? Why give the MSM ammo? The average American voter is not awake--and this campaign must be conducted in the truest sense of the word, from a military perspective. You don't tell your enemy your battle plans.
This doesn't matter right now, anyway. What matters is getting as many delegates as possible. Don't be that team who expects to win the championship, and doesn't even make it out of the first round of playoffs. Eyes on the prize. One step at a time. Who cares what our contemporaries read in the mainstream press? Focus on what our children will read in the history books.

you can lead a horse to water

but you can't make it drink. The media wants to believe that Paul has a very limited amount of things he could gain. Frankly it is better if the average uninformed "rah-rah-romney" voter thinks this too. If the Romney camp believed there was a real chance that Paul could take the nomination then they'd bring out the big guns, and this fight would be over before it began. Since the media and the Romney folks want to believe that is what we are after it is really quite easy to reinforce that idea in their minds....mental Judo I call it.

How Snake got his hissss or patience is a virtue.

Aeons ago this planet was tropical and all creatures
lived in NATURAL FLOW, birth/death, feast/famine.

Snake was happy here as food was plentiful and there were many rocks to sun on in the morning and cool under in the afternoon
Eagle was his adversary but couldnt get under a rock

One day DEITY came and told the creatures she was going to place MAN here and all of you must not kill man.

They all recoiled but none more that Snake

Snake said PLEASE NO! man will kill me and chop me to bits

DEITY said this a process and change must be done.

You are smart and can evade man the killer
Snake said he is bigger and meaner and will chop me into bits
I MUST kill him first

DEITY said you must not kill man unless HE ATTACKS YOU FIRST

Snake said I will be having to fight all the time.
DEITY said having this paradise is worth fighting for

DEITY said I only forbid you to kill man FIRST
but I do NOT tell you not to hissssss

So fellow Paulans, we are hissssing and being ignored
but this gives opportunity to choose the best place from which to strike when we let the usurpers find where we are LAYING LOW.

Everything we need to know we can learn from NATURE
It has always been thus

LAY LOW and let the usurpers walk right into our trap
when they are shocked and attack we have the DIVINE RIGHT to
defend as DEITY said. Usurper have to attack first and we must hisss. THEN attack back. Obey Universal Laws and WIN.

It's good that Romney is

It's good that Romney is implying that he's inevitable, it makes for less opposition to electing our delegates. Why would people show up to vote for Romney delegates if he's already got the nomination tied up? It helps us to let people believe that fairy tale.

While it's always good to inform people when they're wrong, it's much better to actually demonstrate that they're wrong. We'll be doing that in Tampa.

Defend the strategy!

This is what Doug Wead was talking about! Over the next few months more and more media are going to be trying to paint Paul and us in a bad light, we must leave nice comments about how we are working within the party, following the rules, how this strategy is legitimate, how Reagan attempted the same thing in 1976. We need to defend Paul and our strategy so that the media does not control this story! We are winning people!

so that the media does not control this story!

New Ben Swan Report

Reality Check: Why all RNC delegates are 'Free Agents' and unbound

you need to make a whole story about this!!!

Where I stopped reading...

"Last weekend, for example, Paul’s fans were so successful at the Maine state convention that they added 21 delegates to his total. Romney — who had won Maine’s caucuses in February — got, at most, one."

Wait wait wait. Romney won Maine's caucuses in February? That's strange. Because you just told us how he DIDN'T win. In fact, he got crushed. This article is more MSM trash.

I don't get it

Why do people keep talking about Rand Paul being president? I have never heard him say that he even wanted to be president. It makes no sense. Also what guarantees does anyone have that Rand would not be treated as badly as his father has? Do people think for that he has any better chances? I mean that he won't be ignored by the media. Paul talks on the news channels like Rand does now. But let him run for president and he gets ignored, total blackout. Also I think people are counting on way too much for the future. If Ron Paul does not win now and we get Obama for another 4 years, or Romney. There will be an economic meltdown in this country and we probably won't have a goverment left. The people in this country can't take much more. If Paul does not win, they might just choose to get rid of it all together. Mad Max would be better than what they have planned.

It's simple: A smear tactic.

If you only hear it from people trying to smear Paul, then consider it Rubbish designed to hurt him somehow, or at least cause confusion.

Didn't like this

Didn't like this article.

They kept pointing out that Ron still has no chance and that our strategy is deceptive.

End the Fed. End the Wars. Problems Solved. Ron Paul.

That's right, the title sounds good

But the article sucks and is full of lies and disinformation.

He's saying Obama used the delegate strategy too.

It's not arcane, and it clearly works. Always has.

Meanwhile, Bernanke wants to scramble his eggs and Romney knows it because he's going negative, and they're trying to paint supporters as hostile weirdos again - same old fail, lather, rinse, repeat:

And that my delicious DP muffins is called winning the momentum!

The Obama and Paul strategies are nothing alike

The Obama strategy was to get the greatest number of bound/pledged delegates by picking his battles, securing large delegate counts even in states he lost, and dominating in a lot of the states that are traditionally ignored. He won more than half of the primaries, even though Clinton won some of the biggest states. He got an early lead in bound delegates and then kept that lead throughout.

The Paul strategy is to go to state conventions and get his supporters to become bound delegates for other candidates, then to abstain from voting. The plan is to try to convince delegates at the national convention that they can ignore the binding from their states. He has received 11% of the popular vote and is currently in 4th place in the bound delegate count.

There really is no comparison.
