Awesome Article: Ron Paulbarians are at GOP's gate

The Nevada Republican Party convention this month was pretty much like every other GOP convention: Floor arguments over obscure Robert's Rules of Order, bylaws and credentials. Lots of proverbial sound and fury signifying nothing. Only this year, on steroids.

The convention was fairly evenly split between Mitt Romney supporters and party loyalists vs. Ron Paul supporters and many Tea Party activists — with the insurgents enjoying a sufficient majority not only to elect 22 out of 25 of their own to go to the GOP national convention in Tampa, but to oust the party's sitting National Committeeman and Committeewoman, as well.

The rabble's success has many establishment Republicans gnashing their teeth, with one sour grapes GOP blogger referring to the Paul supporters as a bunch of “liars, cheats and thieves.”

But the reality is, the Paul folks played by the rules and more of them attended the convention than the other team. As the saying goes, the world belongs to those who show up.

As a delegate to...

Nevada's State Convention, I had the opportunity to meet Chuck Muth whose writing I have admired for years. He was in the press area in the back reporting on the above mentioned article and was gracious and appreciative that anyone would seek his whereabouts. We should all subscribe to his insightful commentary...

Ron Paul GOA (Gun Owners of America) rating is an A+

Mitt Romney GOA (Gun Owners of America) rating is a D-

Maybe some NRA supporters should be exposed to the truth.

Vote for Ron Paul!

It's my turn to be unpopular

"...Oh, they know it. They just don't care. The emerging Liberty Movement is sick of both establishment Democrats AND establishment Republicans."

This answer will lose more potential mainstream Republican converts than we are willing to admit to ourselves. Don't be edgy, provocative, in-your-face, defensive, or whatever adjective you choose to call it. Be educational. Simply hit on THEIR hot button; paying down the deficit is a fairly universal issue for conservatives. Learn some specifics. Romney touts the Ryan budget plan. A shortened version of this fact (taken from kevink's post here:http://www.dailypaul.com/228726/some-anti-romney-points-to-use)"Paul Ryan wants to cut $1 trillion over 10 years. That's $100 billion per year. Right now our budget deficit is somewhere between $1.3 to $1.6 trillion per year. Let's go with the low end number ($1.3 trillion). Is having a budget deficit of $1.2 trillion really going to make a difference? Basically all Romney does is decrease the rate of increase in spending. But he's still increasing the spending!" Just distill it down to the fact that Romney is fine with taking 10 years to reduce the budget by only $1T. If they listen to Rush, remind them that intentions don't matter;results do, and the result of Romney's plan will be that we remain bankrupt and our economy will still crash. Then remind them that the media who has declared Romney the winner is known by all conservatives to be in the tank for Obama. Remind them that Ron polls better w/the swing vote than Romney does.

My overall point is that we don't need the RNC but we do need their voters.

can't the same thing happen in Tampa that happened in Las Vegas? We don't need the GOP the GOP needs us. Whatever Romney says is irrelevant, he's taken both sides of so many issues he doesn't know what he believes. This is the guy we're supposed to believe is getting wide range support from a majority of the Counrty??? How many more times is RP going to be asked "What do you want Ron?" He should say, I want you people in the media to do your jobs and report what's going on. RP2012 The ONLY Choice--Lookout We're Coming To Tampa To Unseat The Criminals

9/11 was an inside job .....time to get some answers..RP 2012

The GOP old establishment needed to go

This country is being destroyed and they just think that elect anyone with and R instead of a D after their name, and all is well.

They should be happy that we are trying to make a real change. The people of this country know we need change. Obama won promising change.

We offer a real change and we are not supporting a liar.

Ron Paul or no one

I'll be writing Paul's name down no matter what. 4 more years of Obama so everyone can see how bad it really is or 8 years more of the same with Mitt. Simple math for me.

sick of both establishment Democrats & establishment Republicans

Sick!! I'm terimal!

My latest Daily Paul article: How the U.S. Media Has Had a Big Hand in Helping Ron Paul Win the Republican Nomination

Kinda awesome, but still

Kinda awesome, but still misguided on a few points. I have heard too many on here who will vote for Gary Johnson. We are voting for Paul one way or another.

Brent Tweed Owns Roberts Rules of Order

From the Maine Convention:

We are not the ones

Who will be giving Obama his second term. Romney and the GOP neocon are. Anyone supporting Romney is helping Obama get reelected. I see no reason to vote for Romney, Obama and I read up on Garry Johnson and I say hell no to him as well. Garry Johnson sounds like a prowar neocon. No way would I vote for him. I am sticking by Paul till the end. Paul or no one. I don't get Matlarsons paul or paul deal. lol But I will write him in if I have to. I considers protest voting with Obama, cause my state is blue and will probably be blue no matter of what if Obama and Romney are in the general. So it doesn't really matter. I was going to vote all democrats in in protest. But I will definitely write in Pauls name.

well they do have a record of these things

in 08 some 30% ish of paul voters voted for mccain in the general election.. from a grander perspective it might be better if we stuck together, more swagger down the road for future political bids.

RAPE? uhhh Nope!

Why wouldn't they welcome a

Why wouldn't they welcome a return to true conservative values and an influx of youth, and minorities to keep them relevant?

You have to look beyond the label ...

... to what a person believes.

Remember, 150 years ago the Democrat Party was for states' rights and the Republican Party waged war against states' rights.

Today's Republican Party includes SOME conservatives in the traditional sense of the term, BUT the party was taken over by Neo-Conservatives several years ago. Neocons are NOT conservatives, despite the label. They use "conservative" in their label to DECEIVE people into believing they are also conservative. They are not, however. They are actually socialists.

If you think of George Bush, et al, and the things they did when they were in office -- you have to ignore their campaign rhetoric because it is meaningless -- then you will see that everything they did was to INCREASE government power. That's because they are NOT conservatives. They are Neo-Conservatives, which is to say they are socialists.

It looks to me like Ron Paul's overall strategy is to take control of the Republican Party away from the neocons and give the power back to the conservatives and libertarians within the party.

Always look beyond the labels to what the person really stands for WHEN HE IS ACTUALLY IN OFFICE.

This is why I could never support Mitt Romney. It is impossible to figure out what he really stands for, which means either he has no real principles (a bad thing) or he is hiding his true principles (a much worse thing - just look at Obama for a prime example).

Because they are old and

Because they are old and brainwashed... Remember the Matrix? It's dangerous to wake once you are older more difficult. You have to consider all the decisions you made that were based on pure lies and deception... You literally fight the truth to save your EGO.

We could get into a whole

We could get into a whole philosophical discussion here about what is ia liberal, what is a classic liberal etc but the short answer is maybe they ARE "conservative", holding onto the type of philosophy that has helped bury this country in debt while murdering people in a number of countries around the world. Hand in hand with their accomplices on the other side of the aisle. Libertarian ain't "conservative" as much as is liberal. Somehow liberal became socialist and conservative became associated with free markets and smaller government despite the fact that from day 1 the gop has been about neither. Obfuscate the reality and obfuscate real American history, keep the masses as dumbed down as possible and soon it won't matter. They'll own it all. I think that video "if I wanted America to fail" merely scratches the surface. FUBAR might be right on target.

The world is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good things is my religion. Thomas Paine, Godfather of the American Revolution

"neocon" where you have put "conservative"...

Good question

I think part of the top GOP folks are simply corrupt mafia style and do not want any change.

Good article...

*big picture*

"Alas! I believe in the virtue of birds. And it only takes a feather for me to die laughing."

“Don't they know that will only help re-elect Obama?”

Why is it that those of who support Ron Paul are the ones ensuring a Obama victory? Couldn't we just as easily say this of those who are in support of Mitt Romney? That is, if they don't back our candidate then they are essentially electing Obama for President.

Statements like this only show the pervasive ignorance of the main stream media lead GOP. (Limabaugh, Hannity, Levin, and all the Fox hounds are as much main stream as the other news agencies no matter how much they try to say to the contrary) The difference of a Romney supporter backing Paul opposed to the other way around, is that Romney supporters will not have to do so in spite of their personal convictions and compromise their principled stance. In fact, they, for the most part, would gain a few virtues by supporting Paul if they did so out of a true agreement with his ideals and not out of the "anyone but Obama" mantra that they are trying to shove down our throats. Reasons being that Romney is the only slightly lesser evil and not some great agent of earth shaking policy reform like they would like us to think his. He and Obama are two sides of the same coin.

So no, it is not "stupid" that we will not support Romney even IF he wins the nomination. It is the right thing to do. I liken it to we who support Paul as being sea goers on a small sturdy life raft, watching amidst rough seas, as the once great vessel we have abandoned is quickly going down aflame all the while those who remain on board, Romulans, are pleading for us to return to the doomed ship.

The author of this article nailed it. The GOP resists Paul and the liberty movement at their own peril.

"Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters." Benjamin Franklin

Alright article except for

Alright article except for the Gary Johnson part. Not voting for taxes. RON PAUL ALL THE WAY FTW!!

¶~~*~~Losing an illusion makes you wiser than finding a truth. ~Ludwig Börne~~*~~¶

I stopped giving the article any credibility when it said we were going to vote for Gary Johnson. I don't hear any Ron Paul supporters saying "vote for Gary Johnson". I hear them saying "no one but Paul", and "write in Ron Paul".

What was Gary Johnson even doing in the Republican debates if Libertarians aren't Republicans. It's our party, and some people want to drive us out into a meaningless third party. The Libertarian party is for Libertarians that can't call themselves conservatives or Republicans; it's for fakes.

It's the neocons that need to go join another party. Perhaps the Democrat party.

If Paul doesn't make the Republican nominee slot, I will SURELY be voting for Johnson.

Gary Johnson was just as much of a Republican as Paul. He was elected on the Republican ticket to Governor. Don't be silly. If you're going to claim Johnson is a Libertarian, the claim must be made that Paul is one too. They have differences, but they're much closer to each other than Paul is to the current "Republican" stock.
