Virginia District Conventions - May 12

Reposting this from the Ron Paul Forums:

"This Saturday (May 12), Virginia's 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 7th, and 8th congressional districts are being held. Each will send three national delegates and 3 alternates to the national convention. I can't find any details about where each one is being held and at what time, so hopefully those in Virginia already know or know how to find out."

Hopefully everyone in Virginia that's a delegate can make it. If I understand correctly, it is too late to become a delegate if you aren't already.

Good luck patriots

Best of luck from the fightin' ninth, out across the mountains. Just stick up for what you believe in, and the votes will come.

Just in case anyone is unclear

For Virginia...

Delegates in the 11 Congressional districts DIRECTLY elect 3 RNC delegates each, at their own separate district conventions, for a total of 33.

Delegates at the Virginia State Convention elect 13 RNC delegates in June.

-----------
TOTAL: 49

Correct, and the remaining 3 delegates...

... are unbound and reserved for party insiders.

and can vote Paul on first ballot. Wis I hadn't listended to othe posters. I wouldn't give a rats ass if I got censored afterward. And, oh by the way, I wuldn't have joined the Libertarian Party recently.

One aim:

..SWEEP!!!!

Yes, indeed! With 15 delegates and 15 alternates at stake...

... we want a 30-0 shutout in the Old Dominion tomorrow! Patrick Henry patriots, pound the rock for all 4 quarters, and run up the score!

This stuff is wayyyyy better

This stuff is wayyyyy better than football! Lol

Virginia's Congressional District conventions

send their delegates directly to Tampa. The state convention in Richmond is for the commonwealth and platform business, not for the RNC in Tampa. FYI :^)

While you are right about the CDs choosing National delegates...

... Green Papers indicates that some of the National delegates are selected at the State Convention:

If this is incorrect, please clarify with a better source. Thanks.

Be there before 8AM, Saturday May 12th.

We will assist you with our slate of delegates for Dr. Paul.

For the love of liberty :^)

Mixed results for 8th CD :^/

We got 1 of the 3 delegates and the only alternate that we put up, which we won.
We were up against a favored party son & a 35 year Neocon activist, we will take over the district next time and we will have nothing but liberty candidates as it should be.
We did get the establishment an Elector unseated and the new one is a supporter.
We also won the State Central slate via our Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli who was endorsed by Ron, which bespeaks well of the future and the Commonwealth’s convention(s).

This is Northern Virginia, Establishment territory just outside of DC.

So VA does not have a State Convention?

Their national delegates are selected at the CD level? If it's too late to become a delegate, how were the delegates nominated? Will the RP delegates be visible? Sorry for all the questions.

Virginia's delegates: An explanation

Virginia is entitled to 49 National Convention delegates; 46 of those are bound to a specific candidate (43 to Gov. Romney and 3 to Dr. Paul, per the results of the March 06 Primary). The remaining 3 delegates (set aside for GOP insiders) are unbound. Note: The Primary did not select the actual delegates themselves; it only determined who those delegates would be bound to support on the first Presidential nomination ballot in Tampa.

Virginia has 11 Congressional Districts; each of these has a convention (some of which are happening tomorrow), where they select 3 delegates and 3 alternates for the National Convention. Therefore, a total of 33 delegates slots out of 49 are filled this way.

The Virginia State Convention is scheduled for June 16; there, 13 "at large" delegates (and 13 alternates) will be chosen for the National Convention.

Because the "binding" step (Primary) and the "selection" step (CD & State Conventions) are separated, it is possible to have a Paul delegate filling a Romney delegate slot; this is in fact what has been happening, as 9 Romney slots have so far been filled with 7 Paul delegates and only 2 Romney delegates!

The delegates to the CD and State Conventions were selected at city and county GOP meetings. As far as I know, it is too late to become a CD or State Convention delegate or alternate.

If you have any more questions, please let me know, and I will try to help.
