OKLAHOMA CITY – “Not for sale! Not for sale!” and “Follow the rules! Follow the rules!” That is what was being chanted by Republican delegates and attendees of Oklahoma Republican State Convention, as it moved out into the parking lot of the Embassy Suites in Norman late Saturday afternoon.

Red Dirt Report received calls from UStream viewers from around the country after our name and phone number was posted filmed at the site of the rump convention. All of the viewers (and likely Ron Paul supporters) were very polite and informative and were wanting media to cover the unfolding events.

As this political drama unfolded, emails flooded our Red Dirt Report inbox as well. Joseph wrote: “Romney tried shutting down convention. Ron Paul fighters conducting business in parking lot now.”

Marie Mentesana, a photographer for Red Dirt Report, was quickly dispatched to the scene of the parking lot convention in Norman and along with another freelance reporter were able to talk to a number of conventioneers.

As Mentesana explained: “The Oklahoma GOP was holding a delegates conference and they were not allowing everyone to vote. They shut down everything and left. They took it out to vote in the parking lot" ... and pizzas were provided by Ustream viewers.*

video 3 has a shout out to DP from the crowd for the pizza & some tear-jerking chants for Ron Paul

Good God. We're watching history unfold and yet people are worried about who gets credit for ordering the friggin' pizza.

There is a reason for that - it's not just about who gets the

"credit" - it's because we don't buy stuff for our delegates in exchange for votes like the Romney campaign did when they apparently bought people subs in exchange for votes. This was grassroots and spontaneous and entirely above board - we follow the rules.

I'm pretty sure they

Didn't want a mitt Romney subway sandwich fiasco, Ron Paul campaign buying pizza for delegates would be illegal. But grass roots unaffiliated with the campaign is not illegal.

this is a private organization

So it is not illegal like what Romney did. That was a state run election and it was against state laws. This is a GOP convention and is totally private. The Oklahoma GOP might have their own rules on that. So, the worst anyone did was break the Oklahoma GOP rules. I am not familiar with their rules, though, so can't comment on that.

ron paul

Ron Paul is the subject of the Convention
