Message from Ron Paul 5/14/2012

NOTE: Please stop creating new threads on this same topic. Stay focused! Become a delegate, go to your conventions!

As I reflect on our 2012 Presidential campaign, I am humbled by the supporters who have worked so hard and sacrificed so much. And I am so proud of what we have accomplished. We will not stop until we have restored what once made America the greatest country in human history.

This campaign fought hard and won electoral success that the talking heads and pundits never thought possible. But, this campaign is also about more than just the 2012 election. It has been part of a quest I began 40 years ago and that so many have joined. It is about the campaign for Liberty, which has taken a tremendous leap forward in this election and will continue to grow stronger in the future until we finally win.

Our campaign will continue to work in the state convention process. We will continue to take leadership positions, win delegates, and carry a strong message to the Republican National Convention that Liberty is the way of the future.

Moving forward, however, we will no longer spend resources campaigning in primaries in states that have not yet voted. Doing so with any hope of success would take many tens of millions of dollars we simply do not have. I encourage all supporters of Liberty to make sure you get to the polls and make your voices heard, particularly in the local, state, and Congressional elections, where so many defenders of Freedom are fighting and need your support.

I hope all supporters of Liberty will remain deeply involved - become delegates, win office, and take leadership positions. I will be right there with you. In the coming days, my campaign leadership will lay out to you our delegate strategy and what you can do to help, so please stay tuned.

For Liberty,

Ron Paul

But what did this poorly worded past tense message

say to those who have been campaigning tirelessly making calls to TX and CA voters for the past month? It said, nevermind. Thanks for your dedication but your fight you've been fighting is impossible so you basically just wasted all those hours.

I just think it was irresponsible and could have been worded in the present tense. That simple change of tense would have changed the ENTIRE tone of the message and wouldn't have been interpreted the way it was by the MSM.

Why would you consider it

Why would you consider it wasted? How do you know that some of those you called won't become an active vote at the state convention?

Well chances of that are certainly less now

now that many people think he's out like the rest of the GOP candidates. I just wish the campaign would come out and tell us supporters "we goofed with our past tense wording, sorry"

Look, I've been working for hours on end (many long days) making professional looking videos that show enormous support for Paul at rallies in every corner of the U.S. because I've been trying to get supporters and skeptics to believe in the momentum of the movement. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuTXPWec_LU

If the campaign would have worded the message in the present tense "we are winning delegates, we are changing minds, we are continuing the campaign at the district, county, and state conventions where the fight for delegates really matters even if we don't have the money to compete effectively with TV ads in the big primaries states" rather than "we came such a long way and I'm proud of all that we accomplished" past tense "wrapping it up" kind of tone it wouldn't have got the same response from the MSM. I am extremely careful how I present the images and text in my Ron Paul videos so that they are the most positive and uplifting. I wish that this message yesterday would have been written with such care.

this is about more than

this is about more than getting him elected. it's an intellectual revolution. the more people are aware of what really goes on, the more chance they can join politics locally and make a big difference from the ground up. if they let this demotivate them then they weren't going to make a difference anyway.

Agree, true PR is an artform

1. Past tense wording means the effort is in the past and done with.
2. Giving this to hostile media, which will amplify the message will cause damage
3. Supports lose focus on the effort, and the spirit leaves the march
4. Adds to a lack of consistency

Never show your cards in a poker game, and frankly we just showed them to a table of sharks.

"This isn't what the govern meant"

"Win the crowd and you will win your freedom"

yup

amateur hour by j.b. is what I have gathered, we will use it to our advantage and attack the caucus states with hell bent focus, but I have to agree with you, I nearly cried when hearing the news before I got hear to read exactly what it meant. Horrible, horrible PR. We are more hobbled now than before because recruiting new blood will be that much more difficult unless RP runs third party.

Exactly..

It's new supporters that will be harder to win over now that we have to play damage control. I'll say it again, if the "suspended campaign message" to the MSM was intentional with a hidden "delegate fight ramp up" message to all current supporters then why did Doug Wead and others in the campaign play damage control all day in public blogs and articles (which the MSM can easily read too) proclaiming he's still in it? If the strategy was indeed to make 'em think he's out so MSM looks the other way while we ramp up the delegate fight then why the public disclosure that he's very much still in it?? Or were they just testing the MSM to see if they took the bait?

Maybe because it wasn't

Maybe because it wasn't intended to actually cause questioning and second guessing among us (which it did) and only MSM?

Isn't it unlike the campaign and it's platform

to intentionally mislead?

And if the campaign is still in it to win it why say "This campaign fought hard" and not say "This campaign is fighting hard and will continue to fight hard with all it's available, though limited, resources" ??

Best Day Ever for Campaign

Having read the statement several times I still don't see anything that even implies that Ron Paul is dropping out. It reads like a fairly dry Monday morning staff memo. If anything it is declaring that things are going so well with the delegate strategy that the decision has been made to go with it full strength, and that resources that would otherwise be wasted will be used towards this strategy instead.

My favorite part of this is that now when someone says Paul dropped out I can look them in the eye and explain that they were misinformed, the media lied to them again, and besides the media has been pretending for months he was never even in the race so why would this even be news?

Ha ha ha. Ron Paul only tells the truth but the media are merchants of lies so they don't know how to handle truth when they see it - watch as it destroys them.

Don't feed the pandas. Ever.

Here's how I wish the campaign had worded the announcement

(changes in bold)

I am humbled by the supporters who are working so hard and sacrificing so much for our 2012 Presidential campaign. And I am so proud of what we are accomplishing. We will not stop until we have restored what once made America the greatest country in human history.

This campaign is fighting hard and winning electoral success that the talking heads and pundits never thought possible. But, this campaign is also about more than just the 2012 election. It is part of a quest I began 40 years ago and that so many are joining. It is about the campaign for Liberty, which is taking a tremendous leap forward in this election and will continue growing stronger in the future until we finally win.

Our campaign is continuing to work in the state convention process. We are taking leadership positions, winning delegates, and we are on track to carry a strong message to the Republican National Convention that Liberty is the way of the future.

Moving forward, we will no longer spend resources campaigning with TV and news ads for primaries in states that have not yet voted. Doing so with any hope of success in these beauty contests would take many tens of millions of dollars we simply do not have. I encourage all supporters of Liberty to make sure you get to the polls and make your voices heard, particularly in the local, state, and Congressional elections, where so many defenders of Freedom are fighting and need your support.

I hope all supporters of Liberty remain deeply involved - become delegates, win office, and take leadership positions. I am right there with you. In the coming days, my campaign leadership will lay out to you our delegate strategy and what you can do to help, so please stay tuned.

For Liberty,

Ron Paul

------
But because they didn't word it that way they were forced to play damage control all day today, and we are having to as well with friends and family. UNLESS, that is indeed their strategy. But if it were then why are they playing damage control by stressing that Paul is still in it?? If the strategy was to intentionally lead the MSM to think he's out then why stress over and over again today in public blogs and articles that he isn't? Frankly, I think someone goofed up in the wording of this message and I wish they would just admit it.

This entire section should have been edited out

"Moving forward, we will no longer spend resources campaigning with TV and news ads for primaries in states that have not yet voted. Doing so with any hope of success in these beauty contests would take many tens of millions of dollars we simply do not have."

It's needlessly negative and defeatist. In place of "...we will no longer spend..." they should've said "...we will concentrate our efforts on...", or simply leave it out entirely, communicating specifics to local coordinators.

Agreed

I do see relevance in communicating where the money is going though when receiving money from donors who expect to see it used somehow.

Thank you and agree

The past tense wording of the original states that everything is past - time to move on. Further there is no confidence in the original of a positive outcome. The feeling is over and done with.

That is what a hostile media feeds on and dishes out in massive portions.

I read that email and well, said presidency is no longer the goal but I hope you guys can carry the flag of Liberty.

"This isn't what the govern meant"

"Win the crowd and you will win your freedom"

HUGE HUGE QUESTION (LOL)

If the mainstream media reports that "Paul has quit" and "it is all wrapped up for Romney", then why on earth would anyone in CA, TX (or any other remaining state) even bother to go out and vote in a primary that is essentially meaningless? Except for..... maybe..... Ron Paul supporters who know better, and are quite aggressive and determined...(?) Would majorities, even in "beauty contests", be possible, should all the Romney support dry up for lack of interest?

:-)

On the other hand, if the mainstream media gives attention to Ron Paul, and reports on the multiple thousands who have been turning out at his rallies, and the victories he has been winning (and the states he may soon win), and gave more exposure to his message, can you imagine the interest that would be spawned? The momentum? The power?

:-)

There is no other hand.

Because the r3VOLution will not be televised.

Campaign smells victory!

Interesting. The same media that refused to admit RP was ever in the race are now quick to say he’s out; but this press release today makes it clear that he’s still in and will continue to work toward accumulating delegates. He’s just being intentional about how to most effectively campaign. Also, it appears that the increasing tensions between citizens at these conventions is a major concern for Paul who actually wants to unify the party, and actually Americans for that matter… as opposed to the current Saul Alinsky disciple who desires change by division.

I read some say tonight that RP’s lack of campaigning in remaining Primary states (for votes, that is- as opposed to delegates) is a sign that he’s going soft or even bowing to establishment pressure- but Ron Paul caving on principle is a completely ridiculous notion to even his opponents. I personally am now of the opinion that the campaign must have reason to believe that they’re likely to win the nomination in Tampa. This would be based upon their likely knowledge of district level delegates headed to TX, CA and other upcoming state conventions. The campaign’s conspicuous lack of presence at or public condemnation of these most recent and contentious state conventions has not gone unnoticed by the liberty-minded in the trenches- what gives: campaign gone soft?! Again, no way.

His recent string of victories is already hard for even the main stream media to avoid, but soon (perhaps after large delegate states like Texas and California, maybe?) it will be unavoidable for even them. Paul’s humility is likely the catalyst for this shift in strategy. Softening the tone and negative ads early will help facilitate a smoother transition toward unified support for Liberty against Obama leading up to Tampa at the end of August. I’ll be curious to see if over the next several days the campaign starts to emphasize to supporters to be polite and respectful, etc… at upcoming state conventions (‘never punch down’, right?) They’d be well-served to spend their money on parliamentarians and lawyers to ensure up and up business and documentation of votes, etc… at these conventions.

So regarding today’s press release I went from initial disappointment, to curious about what trick play the campaign had up their sleeve, to ultimately seeing at least one beautiful scenario that brings a rational context to a seemingly ill-conceived press release. Is it possible for a political leader to humbly resist going for the juggler when given the chance? I HOPE for that refreshing CHANGE. Ron Paul 2012!!

Of good Ron Paul news. Please pass it around. Today has been hectic for many.

So did you hear that - if you want to hear Ron Paul

So did you hear that - if you want to hear Ron Paul, no more 5,000 to 9,000 people in rented stadiums.

Now you have to show up at the State conventions to hear him.

Enjoy. Enjoy media.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.

Am I the only one who sees

Am I the only one who sees this as pure genius and the only true way to succeed?
Delegates were the strategy from day one.

After the MSM does exactly what the campaign wants (saying he dropped out) he/we can fly under the radar and execute the primary strategy much much easier.

Doesn't anyone realize that Ron Paul isn't going to win over anymore people (at this point) by giving speeches and campaigning in upcoming states. Any more of "the same" type of primary campaigning is only going to have the MSM paint him in more of a "sore loser", "can't win", "too far behind", "causing GOP chaos", sort of light.

For people who are not "in the know", its easy to dismiss one person as "crazy Ron", but its a VERY different story (and much much harder) to dismiss a gigantic army of revolutionaries taking over the GOP as crazy. Especially at the rate we are growing.

Only WE can win over the hearts and minds of people who don't understand what is happening. Not Ron Paul. We do this by educating, being polite, LEADING BY EXAMPLE, and overwhelmingly participate in upcoming conventions.

Ron Paul has already laid the foundation of liberty, we are RESPONSIBLE for implementing his work.

All his job is now, is to wait for us to get him elected. Not him, nor his campaign can do this. Only WE can win this fight collectively at upcoming conventions.

;-))

Damn Skippy!!!!{old saying}Means HELL YES!

Don't attack the Fort!, Go around IT!

It's not the same as his Florida move.

When Paul said he wasn't going to campaign in Florida we all understood why. It wasn't just Romney he would have been competing against and it just didn't make sense to spend the enormous amount of cash and energy.

This is different because what it would take for him to compete in the remaining primaries is very little because he is now the only candidate opposing Romney. It was a time to draw distinctions. Instead the campaign acknowledged Romney as the likely nominee, neglected the state conventions, and chastised fellow liberty activist who plan to take over the Idaho GOP.

and now this from the campaign clarifying today's statement: "The statement tees up forthcoming information the campaign will release..." any of you buying that?

John Stossel was correct!

Something BIG has come out from his campaign!
Ron Paul is REMINDING us that we are not only the campaign, but that WE ARE THE GOVERNMENT!
We are the ones who get elected, who become involved, who vote, who make it happen.
I just hope everyone here sees how Ron Paul has just LIBERATED us from the shackles of slavery and enjoined us to be the individuals we have always been, even if we have forgotten.
We are deciders, not sheep.
And I have decided that Ron Paul is the only candidate worthy to sit as President of the United States.
And I have decided that I will do everything possible from my end to ensure that happens.
Long live the r3VOLution!

MEDIA ATTENTION...Finally

Now that we all know that Ron Paul has not dropped out of the race, some appear concerned about the MSM's attempt to declare Ron Paul out however i see this differently.

Ever heard the phrase "bad news is better than no news", well this phrase is aligned with making stars into superstars. The media release that Ron Paul is out of the race has given him media attention at a massive scale and i know what you may be thinking, if everyone thinks he is out of the race, how is that good for us.

I think this has turned Ron Paul the star into Ron Paul the superstar. Ill be very interested to see the Google Trends in the coming days to see the massive jump of people searching for the good Dr.

To end this comment, we all know better guys, the fight is with the delegates not the popular vote its been like that from the start.

Good treatise from Ken Emanuelson from the Dallas TEA Party.
NO ONE WILL SAVE YOU.

Ken Emanuelson 5.8.12

The above five words may come across as ominous, or even despairing. They are, nonetheless, absolutely true.

Barely a week goes by that we don't all come across messages lamenting the state of our culture, our communities, and our nation. They often begin with "Somebody ought to..." or "They really need to..." or "The Tea Party should..."

If you're the type to engage in that sort of lament, here's a news flash for you:

THERE IS NO "SOMEBODY." THERE IS NO "THEY."

If you're waiting for Superman, you can keep waiting.

If you're looking for Wonder Woman, you can keep looking.

If you're expecting some tea party elves to show up and take care of everything while you're sleeping, you're in for some serious disappointment in the morning.

If your battle plan relies on Spider Man, Batman, unicorns, ewoks, grassroots gnomes or any other mythical creatures to show up and save the day, you need a new battle plan.

The harsh reality is, no superheros or furry aliens are poised to swoop in out of nowhere to clean out corruption, balance the budget or drive out the moneychangers. There is no panacea for our problems. There is no "silver bullet" that will make everything alright.

If our problems are to be solved at all, they will be solved by us, or not at all.

We face daunting problems, to be sure. We draw ever closer to the edge of an abyss, knowing full well that the bridge is out.

Knowing what we know, and seeing what we see, it might be easy to despair--and yet, we do not despair...not yet, at least.

We don't despair because we yet today have air in our lungs, hearts beating in our chests and strength in our limbs...

...and we know, deep down, that as long as we live, there is still hope, and reason to have faith.

But as the Holy Bible tells us, faith without works is dead. Hope sitting in an easy chair is idle hope.

This world needs heroes now more than ever. This battle desperately needs a cavalry.

We could wish in vain for valkyries who will never arrive, or we can join the heroes who are already on the battlefield--but we must, in any case, never forget these five words:

NO ONE WILL SAVE YOU.

You can read those five words as a lament, or you can read them as a CHALLENGE--to join everyday heroes in a fight to save our cities, our counties, our states, our nation and our world.

We call upon all who share our love of liberty to stand up and fight for the God-given rights you claim to believe in--and to fight today, tomorrow, and every day, until the battle is won or the last breath departs from our lungs.

There may come a time for apathy or despair, but this is not that time.

Let us not look back on these days with REGRET for what we failed to do, but rather with PRIDE for all that we managed to do with our brief time on this mortal coil.

WHAT we do is up to each of us--but conscience and Providence demand that we take action--and time is wasting.

There are candidates across our land who have stood up and spoken out boldly for the principles we claim to believe in. They need our help. Whatever you're able to do, they can put your time to good use.

Act. Speak. Walk. Volunteer. Call. Write. Fight."

Is there a journalist douchebag list?

As usual, the MSM is taking advantage of this and finally reporting on Ron Paul, however, in an untrue way. They are saying he is giving up his presidential run. I find this to be annoying. I've been annoyed before about this, but today I had an idea. Is there any list of d-bag journalists that we can add people to? You know, something we can all update as the Ron Paul movement marches on?

Cheers,
Funk

Smart move.....

As a Ron Paul delegate in the Nevada state convention last week I was witness to a war before Dr Paul's speech which not only won over the hearts and minds of many Romney delegates but also had a calming effect on the old guard sitting on the stage.

This is a smart move because not only will Congressman Paul  be able to consentrate  on speaking directly to Romney delegates at state conventions but Romney himself will be forced to do the same (rather than sending his son Josh)

Now each and every state convention will be a debate of sorts and this will be a good thing as Romney delegates will see Ron Paul for the first time LIVE and will see first hand why we are .......who we are.

I know this much, I wouldn't want to play poker with Ron Paul.....lol
