Doug Wead “We are not out, We are Up!” The fight has just begun!
Doug Wead Senior advisor to the Ron Paul 2012 campaign joins Daily Paul Radio with Kurt Wallace for ‘Doug Wead ‘We are not out, We are Up!’ The fight has just begun!’ to discuss today’s email from the Ron Paul campaign and the media spin that Ron Paul has ended his campaign. Doug also explains the reasons for the campaign allocating resources to win this primary election with the delegate strategy and the need for help to fight the corruption state by state.

Two things, first - stop mumbling, second think calm.
We all know from start that all it matters is delegates.
It makes total sense to switch 100% to delegate process versus spend money in primary states.
Jessi is technically right about bound delegates on the first ballot that have to support Romney due to bound rules, but if Benn Swann is right at some point it could not be the case.
Regarding Jessy's mail - it needed to be cleared with the statements from Ron Paul himself and Doug, I understand the shift towards the conventions, but I do not understand the shake of the principle that was the primarily goal, so stay put and wait for the explanation from them. We were planning on big presence at GOP NRC, but what happened at the latest conventions does raise the question mark of any progress in that direction. It's hard to unite with those people who support different philosophy, but this is only way to move forward.
Respect and Peace to all.
Doug Wead says we can win...
and Jesse Benton comes out and corrects him less than 24 hours later and says we can't. Who the hell is running this ass backwards campaign the last 2 weeks?????
One of you is lying. So which is it? Do we have a shot at "winning" the nomination or are we out of it?
It's a simple fukking question and as someone who has donated repeatedly the last 6 years I expect an answer today.
Nomination or not...
I'm voting Dr. Paul even if I have to write him in. I was just chatting up a co-worker, and he said he will write in Dr. Paul. I almost wept.
As someone said on one of these blogs, if you held a gun to my head and said, "Vote Romney or else!" I'd say, "Pull the trigger." Because after all, if Dr. Paul isn't elected president, the Republic will be dead anyway.
Not with a bang, but with a whimper.
Ron Paul 2012 or Bust! Literally!

Re: Paul Campaign Convention Strategy
Every day, I see firsthand how humbled and encouraged Dr. Paul is to have the enthusiastic support of so many who are committed to revitalizing our country.
Let me be very clear. Dr. Paul is NOT dropping out or suspending his campaign.
As Dr. Paul has previously stated, he is in this race all the way to the Republican National Convention in Tampa this August.
And he is deeply grateful for every resource he has been entrusted with to run an historic campaign that continues to defy all expectations.
Looking ahead, our campaign must honor that trust by maximizing our resources to ensure the greatest possible impact at the National Convention.
So while our campaign is no longer investing in the remaining primary states, we will continue to run strong programs at District and State Conventions to win more delegates and alternate delegates to the National Convention.
To this end, our campaign has several positive and realistic goals:
1) Having recently WON Maine, we believe we can win several more states.
2) We will win party leadership positions at both the state and national levels.
3) We will continue to grow our already substantial total of delegates.
We will head to Tampa with a solid group of delegates. Several hundred will be bound to Dr. Paul, and several hundred more, although bound to Governor Romney or other candidates, will be Ron Paul supporters.
Unfortunately, barring something very unforeseen, our delegate total will not be strong enough to win the nomination. Governor Romney is now within 200 delegates of securing the party’s nod. However, our delegates can still make a major impact at the National Convention and beyond.
All delegates will be able to vote on party rules and allow us to shape the process for future liberty candidates.
We are in an excellent position to make sure the Republican Party adds solid liberty issues to the GOP Platform, which our delegates will be directly positioned to approve. Our campaign is presently working to get several items up for consideration, including monetary policy reform, prohibitions on indefinite detention, and Internet freedom.
Finally, by sending a large, respectful, and professional delegation to Tampa, we will show the party and the country that not only is our movement growing and here to stay, but that the future belongs to us.
Dr. Paul will begin this new phase of the campaign this Friday by speaking and holding several events at the Minnesota State Convention. He has also recently accepted an invitation to speak at the Texas Convention, and we are busy scheduling appearances around other State Conventions later this month and into June.
As Dr. Paul stated in his message yesterday, this fight is NOT over. We will continue fighting and expanding, and “we will not stop until we have restored what once made America the greatest country in human history.”
But for Dr. Paul’s efforts in the remaining State Conventions to be successful, and to ensure we get as many Ron Paul delegates to Tampa as we can, he needs you to continue standing with him.
Along those lines, as you probably already know, the grassroots are holding a Money Bomb on Thursday, May 17. Any money raised from that Money Bomb will go toward winning delegates and finalizing our plans for Tampa.
As those plans for the National Convention come together, we will make sure all of our delegates, whether bound or unbound, get the information and aid they need.
Your support on May 17 will also help us reach more Americans with the solutions we know can restore our nation. Each person we add to our cause strengthens our movement for the critical work that awaits us beyond Tampa.
Dr. Paul, John Tate, myself, and the entire campaign staff know what incredible sacrifices have been made by each of our supporters.
Thank you for all of your hard work and your dedication to liberty. Together, we will champion Ron Paul and his message in Tampa, and we will lay the groundwork for future victories.

The campaign pullback
Is a testament to how well we were doing. Dr. Paul must not want to be President.
What normal person WANTS to
What normal person WANTS to be POTUS? Apparently, mostly psychopaths want to be POTUS. Thankfully, we can nominate Ron on our own initiative and woo him with his sense of duty as a SERVANT of the people. ;)
Spot on bud!
Most candidates are psychopaths, it amkes so much sense and this is a fact that should be spread to EVERY american
Paul wants to be President, come on.
Why else would he have put forth all this effort for this whole campaign? His staff is screwing it up for him.
I don't play, I commission the league.
I'm thinking it was about the message
he wanted to influence the GOP platform. I wish we could choose one of us in his stead to take the slot and be President. I'm not voting for Romney.
BENTON's comments today aren't encouraging at all~~
He said, I quote:
“Unfortunately, barring something very unforeseen, our delegate total will not be strong enough to win the nomination,” campaign chairman Jesse Benton wrote in a strategy memo. “However, our delegates can still make a major impact at the National Convention and beyond.”
Paul-supporting delegates will be able to vote on the Republican party platform and rules. Benton told reporters on a conference call that the campaign has been discussing the party platform with former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney’s team.
“I'd like to thank them for the respect that they've showed us,” Benton said.
Many of Paul’s backers have been hoping for a brokered convention, at which delegates bound to Romney on the first ballot could vote for the libertarian-leaning lawmaker on the second.
“We would have been in a very good position going into a brokered convention,” Benton told reporters. But, he said, other candidates did not stay in the race long enough to make that possible.
Benton also argued that, contrary to media reports, ”our campaign can win states, we have won a state” — Maine, where he took a majority of delegates in the state convention, despite losing to Romney at the caucus. He added that Paul is optimistic about a similar victory in Minnesota’s convention this weekend.
Paul’s campaign is encouraging supporters, who have clashed with Romney backers in recent weeks, to stay civil at the convention.
“We are emphasizing decorum,” Benton said. “We our doing everything in our power to work with out supporters to make sure decorum and respect are the name of the game.”
Are you kidding me? How dare he criticize his own Ron Paul supporters but fail to criticize and condemn all the antics, lies, cheating, stealing of votes, that the RINO GOP has done. I'm ticked to no end on this crap!! He makes me sick!
What happened to "IN IT TO
What happened to "IN IT TO WIN IT" ???? Where is the positive optimism????
"Barring Something Unforseen" Is Not Anything Different
Then what Dr. Paul has been saying to us all along... Remember the campaign can't officially encourage us to vote contrary to the "Pledged" Or "Bound" figures however the statement keeps arising that once the delegates step into Tampa, if there is majority of RP supporters, there is still a chance for delegates to vote their conscious if they so choose. The campaign cannot control the way the delegates vote, this has been their position all along... So read between the lines folks... Doug Wead Is Absolutely correct when he said we are still getting started... We all went into this knowing The cards have always been stacked against us, and yet it was Unforseen that we have pressed on to win majorities in the delegate process for the states that have so far held their GOP conventions. The MSM has continuously said Dr. Paul has no chance whereas still there is huge media blackout - yet it was Unforseen that Dr. Paul has been able to continuously draw crowds of supporters in the thousands... Many have grown despondent as it has become evident that there is widespread corruption in all levels of our government, yet it was Unforseen how successful we've been in helping to expose this criminal behavior whereas more and more people are taking measures to shut down the tyranny... My earliest ancestors in this country came over on the Mayflower, started this great nation. Other ancestors fought in the Revolutionary & Civil & World Wars... Well maybe our time has come to participate in the spirit of 1776??? We have all volunteered to be part of this extraordinary movement as we are all spirits in this universe merely on a human journey... I see this experience as part of my life contract that I have agreed to fulfill. I personally will fight to the death for our freedom if I must since I truly believe that if we don't have our civil liberties, we have nothing - everything will eventually be taken away from us including our lives eventually if we don't continue this fight. I AM NOT AFRAID TO DIE just like my ancestors who fought for this country, we're up folks... It's our turn. The eagle is flying high right now asking for help from the creator... Let's honor our ancestors and press on. We all work together to expect the unexpected in these extraordinary times... We Will Not Stop! We Will Not Back Down! Peace! Truth! Liberty!
-LibertyG ... 2 Corinthians 2:16-17 "To some we are a scent of death leading to death, but to others, a scent of life leading to life. And who is competent for this? For we are not like the many who make a trade(for profit) but as those with sincerity...
If you need someone
To fight beside you, I will gladly put my life up for freedom as well. :)
Completely agree with you.
Completely agree with you. So, now Ron Paul Campaign is believing in MSM Delegate totals??? I feel like i am stabbed in the back by the campaign. Where is the outrage from Dr.Paul himself????
At this point, we don't know what deal the campaign has bought from Romney. Apparently, we seem to have 1.8M in the bank (Per CNN) but we can't even use it for campaigning in Texas??? I thought campaigning was all about raising awareness when MSM is against us...
I thought we were "in it to win it" but now we have to smooch with Romney??? NO DEAL WITH HIM.... RON PAUL SUPPORTERS BELIEVE IN VALUES AND THE TRUTH.
and you are not alone
The roadrunner cartoon antics of the campaign "officials" have lost their appeal.
What once was funny now is just maddening.

Indeed, Jesse simply needs to
Indeed, Jesse simply needs to shut-up. His comments are basically meaningless anyway. Either join the revolution, Jesse, or get OUT OF THE WAY. I'm NOT playing silly little games with ANYONE especially the GOP establishment. I'm actually MORE energized than EVER. We're going to send a message to the GOP establishment that they'll NEVER forget.
What I wrote Jesse Benton in response to his E-mail........
Hey Jesse,
This is not a strategy to win. Please write us back when you have a strategy to win. As an independent myself , I would love to see Dr. Paul run third party or as a libertarian. I will await to hear a real strategy to win the white house from yourself or the campaign. Best,Justin Nesbitt (Independent)

what happened to "we won't know the true delegate count til FL"?
i'm mad as hell
First they ignore you, then
First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.
we're gunna look like idiots campaigning for Paul in CA
we already were "crazy ron paul people" after this press release and the MSM interpretation of it along with the rest of their propaganda, i'm gunna feel like a real dope waving ron paul signs or trying to register people as republicans in CA.
how did this press release help anything? well maybe i'm gunna start having some free time now.....
and with silver prices as they are i'm sorry but i think my money is better spent there than donating to the campaign.
in california hopefully awaiting the Ron Paul speech that changes my mind and renews my HOPE for REAL CHANGE, PEACE and LIBERTY!
I feel you
I feel like a dope as well. But after sleeping on it, I'm still going to pass out Super Brochures in my California neighborhood. I think it is the right answer for the USA. Not Romney, not Obama. Whatever the campaign does, it doesn't change that fact.
Holding Up The Ron Paul Sign Reinforces The Truth About
The Fake News Spins... And if anyone asks you can just say the truth about what Dr. Paul actually said, which was just to direct resources where they are most needed - Not dropping out of the race... Besides even if the MSM is successful with convincing the masses about their lies, it's the delegate counts that really matter. Dr. Paul never expected to win the popular vote anyway since everyone knows it's highly rigged. I would be very surprised if Dr. Paul won a single straw vote in any state... Delegates! Delegates! Delegates is what matters at this point! We are Winning The Delegate Race!!! March On Patriots... We March On!!!
-LibertyG ... 2 Corinthians 2:16-17 "To some we are a scent of death leading to death, but to others, a scent of life leading to life. And who is competent for this? For we are not like the many who make a trade(for profit) but as those with sincerity...
I agree
No way I'm donating more time and money if our objective is just to get liberty issues added to the GOP platform! I don't trust Mitt Romney to fulfill any promises. I will never vote for Romney.
Me too
I'm in Afghanistan and as you can imagine the good Doctor has a nice following. I, and some of the other guys, have donated money that could have been used to stockpile food and silver, money we were hard pressed to give up, but we really believed Paul was the last shot, humanly speaking, at this nation surviving.
I followed the campaign in '08 and though Benton was an idiot, this email reinforces it. I'd jack that dude in the face if I saw him right now, I don't think there was a worse possible move the campaign could have done than this, especially with the momentum in our favor.
confused
Why would Jessie Benton's email say the exact opposite of what Doug Wead said?
This makes no sense.
I'm still hopeful Romney will
I'm still hopeful Romney will stumble big time.
Romney will stumble big time.
he already HAS
and believe the bammaO team will gleefully expose more and more and tell lies and twist what they have already told
its a GOOD thing we dont have to refute all that aggression YET
after Tampa we will have to shields up and forward vs a tight flank who OWN the media
let the rommnie billions be spent to stand off those bammaO
attacks and expose them so WE CAN SEE
watch all the rommnies bs vs bammaO and be prepared if necessary to use all of it
have to leave for work
glad to have ANY but want to get back here and see many wise members suggestions of what we will do in every town to keep this great flame alive until time to light the bonfires in August, the most fiery of all months and the Sign of politicians.

It''s clear
Although I don't want to believe it, it is coming to an end. I feel sick to my stomach and at this point can not even write in Ron Paul's name. Right now I would vote for Buddy Roemer. He seems more honest than the Benton campaign or I mean the Paul campaign. Oh, and btw, the whole audit/end the Fed idea that Ron Paul uses, he stole the whole concept from Buddy Roemer in the first place. Google research that!
Figure it out ^^^^^This
Figure it out ^^^^^This poster has been a member for 4hrs (Laugher)!!
Ron Paul 2012
That's a pretty incredible statement
that Ron Paul stole the end the Fed concept from Buddy Roemer. I have never heard that before, and I find it difficult to believe that Buddy Roemer was out talking about the ills of the Federal Reserve prior to 1971. I did Google research, and found NO evidence of any statement made by Buddy Roemer regarding the Federal Reserve in a time frame that would have preceded Ron Paul's election to Congress. Ron Paul has been the champion of sound money and free market interest rates since the very beginning of his political career. It is what spurred him to run for office.
you can still write "Ron Paul" dude!
come on! you can do it!
Please Reference The Article???
Simply a call to do a google search doesn't seem to be much proof in my opinion. Also if you have already decided to vote for someone else why are you here? Also again, if Dr. Paul didn't believe Jesse Benton was doing a good job he would simply fire him. I would encourage everyone to use their common sense when considering these types of suggestions... I've got all day folks... We're evidently Rollin with the punches here...

No Welfare handed out here,,,
Do your own homework! And btw I'm here to voice my opinion whether I agree with the majority or not. Surely, as a "true" Ron Paul supporter you should understand that. I don't always agree with the campaign and now is one of those times. Can you dig it? I'm frustrated and it's a good time to vent. Respect! Peace.
Troll
Since you've been a DP member for a whole 3 and 1/2 hours, I'm predicting you weren't really supporting RP to begin with.
Not a troll....
Just a lost soul swimming in a fish bowl year after year. Roemer 2012
Ron Paul has more of a chance
Ron Paul has more of a chance to beat Obama than Buddy even if he suspends his campaign. Buddy has zero chance.
Listen to what you just said.
Your implying that one of the reasons your voting for Ron Paul is that he has a chance. I never voted or vote for someone because they have a chance. I vote for someone because of my conscience. If you really wanted to vote for someone that has a chance, then Obama or Romney is your guy. Ron Paul represented my beliefs well but right now he is really screwing the supporters bad in my opinion. Perhaps, it's Jesse Benton but whatever, it blows.
I'm just saying that it's a
I'm just saying that it's a little late in the game to start campaigning for someone else. We need to stick to the plan and that is to get RP elected.

While this is nice news the email I recently got from Jesse tells the world we won't win.
"Unfortunately, barring something very unforeseen, our delegate total will not be strong enough to win the nomination. Governor Romney is now within 200 delegates of securing the party’s nod. However, our delegates can still make a major impact at the National Convention and beyond." Jesse Benton
barring something very unforeseen
Perhaps Dr Paul and all know something we don't! And with Obama gunning for Romney who knows what will surface. If Romney is forced to drop out, Dr. Paul will get all of his delegates!
Let's give it a "wait and see" until Tampa!
I would Go Back To What Has Been Posted On The
Official ronpaul2012.com campaign website??? Any email that seems to come from the campaign thus far saying we have no chance to win the nomination in Tampa would seem to me as a phony...
-LibertyG ... 2 Corinthians 2:16-17 "To some we are a scent of death leading to death, but to others, a scent of life leading to life. And who is competent for this? For we are not like the many who make a trade(for profit) but as those with sincerity...
Ron Paul knows the truth
about the election fraud and rigging going on against him that the GOP is doing and we might face in the general election which is why we have to count the votes and force that to happen. So it means the money will be spent making sure delegates can go their conventions and more training for more delegates, so to increase our chances for take over and not make the errors we once made.
It's such a poorly run campaign.
I want to donate money directly to the delegates, not giving a dime to Jesse Benton and advising all my followers the same. So if you don't provide an avenue for direct contributions, there will be a problem.
TIME FOR REVOLUTION IN THE REVOLUTION (as someone earlier said)
If Dr. Paul Didn't Believe Jesse Benton Was Doing A Good Job
he would simply fire him. This hasn't happened thus far so I would encourage everyone to use common sense when considering these types of suggestions...
-LibertyG ... 2 Corinthians 2:16-17 "To some we are a scent of death leading to death, but to others, a scent of life leading to life. And who is competent for this? For we are not like the many who make a trade(for profit) but as those with sincerity...
Um....
Might be a bit of a tough spot considering Jesse is his son-in-law. I've seen the hiring of relatives undo more than one campaign. *sigh*
Dr. Paul stays out of it
Just like he did with those newsletters. Therefore characters like Jesse Benton continue to strive.
When it is all ideals, then Jesse is good...but when the fight comes, he becomes excess baggage.
According to Jesse Romney is within 200 delegates?!?! So Jesse subscribes to the AP's count I see. All the while a great majority of "Romney's" delegates ARE in actuality RP supporters!!
These guys, the RP campaign, are now playing politics. WE are NOT playing politics!
Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Indeed, this campaign is OUR
Indeed, this campaign is OUR movement, i.e. the grassroots, not Ron's or Jesse's or ... it is OUR movement to restore constitutional liberty. I don't agree with Ron 100% on the issues, but he's more right than wrong. Ron has been very effective in bringing diverse groups of voters together so I grant him credit for that accomplishment. Regardless, the fate to nominate Ron Paul is NOT Ron Paul's to decide. Ron can either accept or reject the nomination though. We, the people of the grassroots, will decide how to proceed. Yes, we'll accept counsel and guidance, but not dictation and domination.
Although, the booing of officials might be a bit offensive, it's DESERVED in most cases. MANY of these officials are blatant TRAITORS and party hacks. Booing is rather innocent in the list of judgments reserved for these traitors. Thank God that the American people are awakening. With that said, I do recommend a more TACTFUL approach to marginalizing and eliminating the enemies of constitutional liberty.
