Re: Paul Campaign Convention Strategy

Every day, I see firsthand how humbled and encouraged Dr. Paul is to have the enthusiastic support of so many who are committed to revitalizing our country.

Let me be very clear. Dr. Paul is NOT dropping out or suspending his campaign.

As Dr. Paul has previously stated, he is in this race all the way to the Republican National Convention in Tampa this August.

And he is deeply grateful for every resource he has been entrusted with to run an historic campaign that continues to defy all expectations.

Looking ahead, our campaign must honor that trust by maximizing our resources to ensure the greatest possible impact at the National Convention.

So while our campaign is no longer investing in the remaining primary states, we will continue to run strong programs at District and State Conventions to win more delegates and alternate delegates to the National Convention.

To this end, our campaign has several positive and realistic goals:

1) Having recently WON Maine, we believe we can win several more states.
2) We will win party leadership positions at both the state and national levels.
3) We will continue to grow our already substantial total of delegates.

We will head to Tampa with a solid group of delegates. Several hundred will be bound to Dr. Paul, and several hundred more, although bound to Governor Romney or other candidates, will be Ron Paul supporters.

Unfortunately, barring something very unforeseen, our delegate total will not be strong enough to win the nomination. Governor Romney is now within 200 delegates of securing the party’s nod. However, our delegates can still make a major impact at the National Convention and beyond.

All delegates will be able to vote on party rules and allow us to shape the process for future liberty candidates.

We are in an excellent position to make sure the Republican Party adds solid liberty issues to the GOP Platform, which our delegates will be directly positioned to approve. Our campaign is presently working to get several items up for consideration, including monetary policy reform, prohibitions on indefinite detention, and Internet freedom.

Finally, by sending a large, respectful, and professional delegation to Tampa, we will show the party and the country that not only is our movement growing and here to stay, but that the future belongs to us.

Dr. Paul will begin this new phase of the campaign this Friday by speaking and holding several events at the Minnesota State Convention. He has also recently accepted an invitation to speak at the Texas Convention, and we are busy scheduling appearances around other State Conventions later this month and into June.

As Dr. Paul stated in his message yesterday, this fight is NOT over. We will continue fighting and expanding, and “we will not stop until we have restored what once made America the greatest country in human history.”

But for Dr. Paul’s efforts in the remaining State Conventions to be successful, and to ensure we get as many Ron Paul delegates to Tampa as we can, he needs you to continue standing with him.

Along those lines, as you probably already know, the grassroots are holding a Money Bomb on Thursday, May 17. Any money raised from that Money Bomb will go toward winning delegates and finalizing our plans for Tampa.

As those plans for the National Convention come together, we will make sure all of our delegates, whether bound or unbound, get the information and aid they need.

Your support on May 17 will also help us reach more Americans with the solutions we know can restore our nation. Each person we add to our cause strengthens our movement for the critical work that awaits us beyond Tampa.

Dr. Paul, John Tate, myself, and the entire campaign staff know what incredible sacrifices have been made by each of our supporters.

Thank you for all of your hard work and your dedication to liberty. Together, we will champion Ron Paul and his message in Tampa, and we will lay the groundwork for future victories.

and do what?? Who are we going to get behind???

I dunno about you, but I don't need a "president"

I am capable of governing myself.... it's just a matter of convincing my government to dissolve itself.

"sometimes I hug the coffee table when no one is looking."

It's Always Been About Us

Free people are not 'governable'. Our rights are not negotiable. The Presidency was always a long shot and even if won, is rightfully limited in influence.

The real revolution is in people waking up to the principles of freedom. The two-party system has been rigged for over a century. If we want to reclaim our freedom peacefully, we need to co-opt them, rather than the other way around. We are well on our way to doing that.

Today's message only illustrates why any bureaucracy is untrustworthy. So fine, we'll stop sending the 'staff' money and support, and continue on with taking over the party structure. And WE will determine our future, without 'help' from compromisers.

Today's message outlined Jesse's goals. To get a 'speech'. Past performance of the Old Guard tells us in advance what amount of 'influence' that will have. Past performance tells us in advance what amount of influence the 'party platform' has. Zero.

So I say, keep up the effort, it is about ousting liars and cheaters from county and state party structure, and supporting liberty candidates at every level from dog-catcher to senator.

Without compromise.

It's our last chance to claim our freedom peacefully.

Benton says: Bow to your masters like good little sheep!

All the hard work, all the money, and all we get is a chance to bow down to the RNC in Tampa. Take your "speaking slot" & your "Rand Paul" and shove it!

i hope this new strategy

i hope this new strategy includes support for those patriot delegates in OK & AZ!

IT DOESNT

Can you read?

Rude...

... and incorrect as well.

A Constitutional, Christian conservative who voted for Ron and stands with Rand

Amen to that!

The worst thing about the last few days has been the (thus far) betrayal of those patriots by the paid staff. THEY WERE NOT DISRESPECTFUL TO ANYTHING BUT TYRANNY, and even that in very measured quantities. It's just unconscionable that, thus far, they've been left to twist.

Reads like 4 years ago...

I sometimes wonder if they knew the whole time how this would turn out.

"No army can stop an idea whose time has come"

Yeah, but

even if the campaign somehow knew... and told us... would it have changed your actions at all? Wouldn't you have still fought as hard as you could, donated as much as you could afford, and tried to persuade as many as possible to vote for him? You did all of this because you have a conscience. You did it because, like most of us, you looked at all the candidates and saw that Paul was (by far) the best choice. Ron Paul is telling us he doesn't want to waste our money because he has a conscience. He's telling us to keep fighting for what we believe in, but be smart about it. Don't throw good money after bad in a tough economy. So let's continue to fight and see how it goes. Maybe he'll surprise all of us and run third party. I sure hope he does.

I am encoruaged, at least, that...

Dr. Paul will still be campaigning, despite the nonsense Benton put out yesterday.

Texas is a primary state. He is speaking there. That IS campaigning.

Good to know.

"Truth is an absolute defense to the charge of paranoia."

He's NOT campaigning for the primary in Texas

He's speaking at the convention, which occurs well AFTER the primary.

Darn....!

Oh well. Maybe he will hold a few more rallies...? They can't cost all that much, can they?

I don't see how he can blow off his home state totally, and still be taken as a serious candidate for the nomination.

"Truth is an absolute defense to the charge of paranoia."

It doesn't matter

All delegates in TX have already been selected anyway.

-Jacky
TX

It DOES matter

the delegates to national have not been selected. Texas is a proportional state, so the more votes he gets in the primaries, the more delegates he can win.

I haven't received any email from the campaign as of yet.

But this guy should be fired and get someone in that knows what winning is about! We can still win this nomination.

So

he basically can't win and we are trying to "reshape" the GOP into a cross breed of the Libertarian/Constitution party. Why not just join those parties and grow them instead of fighting the neocons??

American history has shown that it is far easier...

... to reform a major party than to replace it with a minor party. It has been more than 150 years since a minor party managed to replace one of the "Big Two" (GOP replacing the Whigs before the Civil War), while the major parties frequently shift positions based on the mood of the country, "new blood" coming into the party, etc.

A major reason why a third party has a hard time catching on is that, if it has a compelling position, one or both of the major parties will adapt to include that position as part of the larger message (for example, the Democrat "New Deal" co-opted much of the Socialist Party's platform, effectively putting the Socialists out of business as a third party).

The Libertairian Party has been around for 40 years now, and, despite the attempts of the Party faithful to "grow", it remains insignificant. Since we are having success at growing within the GOP, I say we keep at it.

A Constitutional, Christian conservative who voted for Ron and stands with Rand

Benton works for the Neo-Cons

otherwise we wouldn't be pandering to the GOP. Let the GOP fail on it's own, we should all be heading over to the libertarian party or the constitution party. Why on earth would we wanna have our good names attached to the rotten, stinking, cesspool that is the GOP?
