Romney friend says bullying was "vicious," turned into an "assault" (AUDIO), Romney nominee now equals Obama 2nd termSubmitted by James_Madison_Lives on Wed, 05/16/2012 - 15:09
Mitt, This is for John Lauber. - JML
Every moderate swing voter whom I have talked to who could go either way has told me they will never vote for Romney now and they will stay home. I mean people in Massachusetts who used to speak fairly positively of Romney, and said, "at least he's not Obama." It is not just the bullying per se, but the details of the incident. People care because it is clear Romney has not changed, and still laughs it off as a "prank." The story has legs and new Youtubes are popping up all the time. (Youtube "Romney laughing")
Romney shows a complete lack of remorse by falling back on that he doesn't "remember," a statement which makes incident participant and classmate Phillip Maxwell incredulous.
Romney classmate Phillip Maxwell, who helped hold the "soft-spoken" kid down, says it was "vicious" and that normal bullying quickly "degenerated into an assault":
"I remember the realization almost immediately that this whole thing had gone too far and it was destructive and wrong, and I think that feeling is shared by everybody who was either involved in it or witnessed it”,
The small, "terrified" Lauber, who saw Romney coming at him with scissors as he was pinned down, cried and screamed for help. Romney pressed the attack, cutting off his hair. Then he strutted out of the room to applause. Maxwell says it was Romney who conceived the idea and was the "ring leader."
Romney was not just a bully. He was the especially mean, calculating, and vicious kind. And he hasn't changed a bit. This will not go away, and the anti-Obama vote consisting of moderates will be turned off from voting for Romney. If Romney is nominee then the fix is in and it's Obama for another term.
By age 18 the basics of your character as an adult are formed. As president, Romney would have his finger on the nuclear "button."
The victim John Lauber as much as admitted that the incident damaged him for life when he ran into one of Romney's posse at an airport as an adult, and the classmate apologized to him. Lauber had a sad life. He never heard an apology from Romney, and died in 2004.
