Romney friend says bullying was "vicious," turned into an "assault" (AUDIO), Romney nominee now equals Obama 2nd term

Mitt, This is for John Lauber. - JML

Every moderate swing voter whom I have talked to who could go either way has told me they will never vote for Romney now and they will stay home. I mean people in Massachusetts who used to speak fairly positively of Romney, and said, "at least he's not Obama." It is not just the bullying per se, but the details of the incident. People care because it is clear Romney has not changed, and still laughs it off as a "prank." The story has legs and new Youtubes are popping up all the time. (Youtube "Romney laughing")

Romney shows a complete lack of remorse by falling back on that he doesn't "remember," a statement which makes incident participant and classmate Phillip Maxwell incredulous.

"Interview of Romney friend says bullying was "very disturbing," turned into an "assault"": (YOUTUBE AUDIO) (MP3)

Romney classmate Phillip Maxwell, who helped hold the "soft-spoken" kid down, says it was "vicious" and that normal bullying quickly "degenerated into an assault":

"I remember the realization almost immediately that this whole thing had gone too far and it was destructive and wrong, and I think that feeling is shared by everybody who was either involved in it or witnessed it”,

The small, "terrified" Lauber, who saw Romney coming at him with scissors as he was pinned down, cried and screamed for help. Romney pressed the attack, cutting off his hair. Then he strutted out of the room to applause. Maxwell says it was Romney who conceived the idea and was the "ring leader."

Romney was not just a bully. He was the especially mean, calculating, and vicious kind. And he hasn't changed a bit. This will not go away, and the anti-Obama vote consisting of moderates will be turned off from voting for Romney. If Romney is nominee then the fix is in and it's Obama for another term.

By age 18 the basics of your character as an adult are formed. As president, Romney would have his finger on the nuclear "button."

The victim John Lauber as much as admitted that the incident damaged him for life when he ran into one of Romney's posse at an airport as an adult, and the classmate apologized to him. Lauber had a sad life. He never heard an apology from Romney, and died in 2004.

Even thought this doesn't seem that serious

It's still pretty messed up. Doing that to a kid can easily change his life forever, specially when you are that young and still developing. It's not right

This incident happened over 50 years ago

I think Mitt should be cut some slack for youthful indiscretion. The fact he claimed he can't remember it now, shows his true character. His knee jerk reaction to any accusation is to lie about it, IMHO it disqualifies him from any consideration as the nominee.

Big difference in perception of this

when 5 of the guys involed and participated in this tell the story to when rombama just laughed it off in the interview. We didn't get the whole story then. But we do now and now is what matters in what we do about it. I know I sure don't want a maniacle sociopath running this country with access to the red button.

For some of the participants to say the Romney assault still

bothers them is saying something. Romney goes on to become governor. Lauber gets kicked out of Cranbrook (for smoking a cigarette) and checks himself into a psych ward at one point later.

WaPo article:

“It happened very quickly, and to this day it troubles me,” said Buford, the school’s wrestling champion, who said he joined Romney in restraining Lauber. Buford subsequently apologized to Lauber, who was “terrified,” he said.

Maxwell called it, quote, "vicious".

Next convention,

Let's all show up with scissors, wigs, and laughing.

Watch the video of Maddow on this

A serious character flaw was just revealed. He doesn't think his actions were bad so he laughs them off and dismisses them as inconsequential.

Everytime he lies, he laughs that sick inconsequential laugh. Just watch him in the future.

Five students came forward on this and expressed remorse for their involvement and rombama just laughs it off? This needs to go viral.

"HAHA This is a joke right?" Mitt...er Willard

It was the 1960's, we weren't doing anything of the sort, no hazing, nothing that 'Dazed and Confused' highlighted in their movie of that era, none of that existed, it was all a big dream, something those pot head smokers, including myself...eek I mean those marijuana people contrived.

Yeah...that's who we want right America, someone who laughs off cruel behavior and has the most convenient times for amnesia. Oh wait, then he apologizes for it...it doesn't matter how well you have trained yourself to respond to questions, someone is going to find a way to get you to slip...it is evident to me, I hope others wake up soon!

One more nail in the coffin of why we need Ron Paul.

Visiting with one of the "Silver Girls" from my class

Just yesterday - have lost another classmate... George. And we strolled down Memory Lane re our class (had 90 in our grad class) and there simply were NO BULLIES that we could recall... Was a small TX town - with income diversity, no doubt - BUT we never knew that! We were just Buddies - guys and gals - until high school, when we began to have friends of the opposite sex... And even then, Friday nites were reserved for running around as a group of girls - group of guys. She and I laughed that no one ever called either of us "Fatty"! The main "Cop" was a man who was so wise that, if he caught a boy drinking? That good officer gave him the Ultimate Punishment! TOOK HIM HOME TO HIS DADDY! Anyway, that was then; this is now...and I'm saddened to feel that kids can't/don't grow up with the freedoms and kindnesses that I did...

If I ever held somebody down and forcibly cut their hair

I think I would remember it.

UNLESS I was completely abusive to everyone I ever met and it became lost with similar behavior toward so many others. Maybe thats the problem.

Normal?

"and that normal bullying quickly "degenerated into an assault"

Bullying should never be considered "Normal". They're all animals in my book.

okay bad choice of words. What I am trying to get across is

the qualitative difference, and I don't know if anyone knows what I mean, between one kind of bully and another. You are right all bullying is reprehensible. I can only speak from my own experience from a pretty normal cross section of public schools. There seems to be the kind of bully who is the big kid who likes to throw his weight around, but consciously doesn't mean to truly hurt anyone, just a result of immaturity and probably from a messed up home, and a more sociopathic behavior like Romney's. The kid was crying and terrified. At some point someone should have said, or the bully himself (Romney) "aw forget about it guys, let's go." What the witness Maxwell and the others saw disturbed them enough that they talk about it in these terms to this day.

Romney is still running!

....with scissors

This is not bullying, this was a vicious criminal attack that probably still leaves a mental scar on his victim.

He has no conscience ....

Romney reeks of pure psychopathy, he is extremely callous and cold, he just smiles and laughs of every accusation that's real, he has no remorse or empathy at all, that's why it was so hard for him to relate to other people, he just doesn't have that human part of him to understand our pain, he simply doesn't care> brain abnormalities

Torture of his dog, bullying and harassment of classmates, Ponzi schemes, fraud allegations, Lack of human core, Lack of any real values, all points to it, though no one is perfect and we all have flaws, his is consistent, which makes on wonder how these candidates even get elected, some people are stupid man

Look we had bullies,, everyone did. Mostly they were screwed up

...too. Maybe getting knocked around by their old man at home, and angry.

Romney had everything, money, privilege. There is something different, chilling, about the image of Lauber in tears and Romney still coming at him. Most bullies I knew lost heart when the little kid started crying and was scared. Not Romney. And that he is laughing about it now and calling it "hijunks" and making excuses shows he hasn't changed. Sociopath.

Its not always wise to label people..but..

torturing a victim no matter how much they scream in pain to stop, it's the same mentality Ted Bundy had- It's called emotion-free crisis management, it allowed him to wipe the gore off his hands from his victims, Though Bundy was raised in a violent and cruel upbringing, his was more extreme, but just like Romney doing what he did to his dog, and then saying the dog enjoyed it up there is no different. This is who wants to be our president, God help us, Its frustrating that so many people don't know these things

I can't stand Romney, but

I can't stand Romney, but this happened in high school. "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

okay, I'll play. Whatever I did, I never deliberately mind-fked

some little kid.

I probably reacted to soon to

I probably reacted to soon to this post because I just saw where Bill Maher was attacking Romney for this and I thought to myself: "You're the guy who makes fun of Sarah Palin's kids and you're in your 50s'!" I hate to say this, but I was terrible when I was in high school. What disgusted me the most is that I'm friends with several Democrats on facebook who also bullied people and several of them have been posting attacks on Romney for this.

Evil prevails when good men fail to act.

So I shouldn't speak out against this because I cursed too many times today?

Justify it if you like but that's how bad people wind up in power and do more bad stuff.. We are enablers.. Don't be an enabler.

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution, inevitable.

Again, it happened in high

Again, it happened in high school. Aside from Romney's bully incident, the "bully problem" is just an excuse for liberals to create more bureaucracy anyway. It's already happening in Minnesota where I live.

If he tortured animals I wouldn't care if it happened in

high school. The point is that some things speak to your essential character no matter how long ago they were, and certainly by 18.

It is not only the particularly "vicious" (classmate Maxwell's word) nature of the attack which makes it relevant today, but the fact that Romney acts as if it were some big joke which disqualifies him in many peoples' mind from the grave, sober responsibility of being the US president. Romney seems to crave peer approval even it it means doing wrong. Almost every general in Kennedy's war room wanted him to attack Cuba during the missile crisis. It would have started WWIII and we wouldn't be sitting here to write this had he not stood firm.

If it had happened in kindergarten

you might carry some weight.. but as someone else pointed out.. the guy made light of it and lied about his knowledge of it and let's say for a second that he actually can't remember.. Which is bullshit..

The fact that he could be so abusive and then forget about it says a lot as well. You can excuse him if you want to but it says a lot about you too.

Ohh and yes yes it's all a liberal conspiracy that Romney is a piece of shit still today. The guy has been a pompous prick his entire life.. He exudes "I'm too big to fail and you're below me".. I'll bet you 10,000 he's still pulling the same shit he has always gotten away with. Seriously.. what do you think was behind the dog on the roof.. the 10,000 bet... the firing of the Gay staffer for political gain.. all the flip-flopping... he's a fucking weasel.

His lie that he "doesn't remember" and his laughing it off

as a "prank" was not in high school. It was last week.

Ron Paul voted 'Best All Around"

Please remember this is in sharp contrast:

Despicable. I agree Romeny cannot win in general election with

only the Republican base. Part of his appeal was the happy-go-lucky "Mittster" image, little dense but a "nice guy," but now it turns out he is one mean SOB and always was. With the dog on top of the car and this dark episode, the Daily Show will be playing on this until election day.

This will resonate with the "Revenge of the Nerds" crowd which is almost everybody but Romney. He's toast. I agree the fix is in and it's Obama, which I might have grudgingly understood it paved the way for Rand in 2016 and a GOP takeover with delegates. But honestly I don't think the country has that long.
