Policy Mic: Will Ron Paul Fire Jesse Benton?

At a time like this, you either fire the leadership of a campaign or you stand behind them. The third option is to give up, but Ron Paul supporters don’t seem like the type to give up.

I’ve been in Ron Paul campaign manager Jesse Benton’s presence a total of two times. Those two times lasted a maximum of 30 seconds each. I have no personal loyalty to Jesse Benton nor animosity for him.

Wrong...the e-mails DON'T cut

Wrong...the e-mails DON'T cut the legs off the delegates supporting him. It is trying to SAVE their legs. A delegate replaced by an alternate has no legs.

If you get yourself replaced by not voting for Romney (if you are bound to him) then you are replaced for ALL votes at the Convention.

Ron Paul knows this. Which is why he had his campaign send out those e-mails.

It seems like the press

It seems like the press release might have been more of a strategy(you could call this blind hope, since we'll work it to our advantage anyway, if other r3VOLs stay on course), due to rising aggressiveness obviously coming out at the following state conventions after Maine and Nevada, which were OK and AZ. These people were literally crazy to be so bold as to getting physical, like I said I experienced it first hand before rules were even adopted. "Contentious" was an absolute understatement for how the people were acting toward Ron Paul supporters since they did get physical and threats were made to others (specifically, the hispanic they cut off on the mic when he was telling them he was being threatened), we were hispanic as well and these people were yelling as they were sitting behind us "go home and stay home Ron Paul!"

I understand your concern for the others who may not be as impassioned and principled as I am to see through our r3VOLution to the end for real change.

It is OUR

It is OUR movement-r3VOLution. Thanks to Ron Paul he has been there as a leader and spokesperson for it.

I did NOT go win NV, all the while to be literally assaulted by 'monitors' for Romney, subjected to such irate & irrational Romney supporters who continued to blame and shout at us throughout the whole state convention for every damn thing(wearing an RP shirt, or even txt msging), then to be seeing this BS by other half @ss liberty lovers giving up hopes(direct participation is key!) due to some campaign spokesperson 'conceding' to Romney BEFORE August 27th- 30th RNC convention.

We are changing the party from the roots and up, got to stay till the end to get it done. (Don't be like the whiny Romney supporters who tried to leave so many conventions, and claim there is no quorum to get business done.)

Nothing personal, it is just common sense that we have a system(winning delegates) and we need to use it to our advantage until the fat lady sings. The rules are there for our taking.

Yes...but you don't KNOW all

Yes...but you don't KNOW all the rules. Not even close. They do. Look...until 2 weeks ago NO ONE here had ever even HEARD of Rule 38 or Rule 11. So..don't you think that maybe...just MAYBE there are lots and lots of OTHER rules that you STILL don't know about that the GOP can use (legally) to prevent disenfranchising millions of voters?

It may not be Ron Paul's revolution...but you need him to carry it out. And if he doesn't want it, he will simply not accept the nomination.

bump

Thanks for posting.

I guess we will learn tomorrow if the Liberty Movement supports Benton.

If I was to donate to the campaign I would do it today or the day after tomorrow.

And here ya have it . . .

All the outrage without understanding, all the calls for Benton to be fired etc., all the doubts about Ron Paul were what gave this story its newsworthiness.

"A poorly written press release followed by a series of imprecisely worded statements at a press conference given by Jesse Benton was received by a press ready to cannibalize Ron Paul and coronate Mitt Romney. Things quickly started to get ugly.

The liberty movement made that possible. Only a story with traction gets heard by people. Despite the fact that the Ron Paul movement is as strong today as it was two days ago, Paul’s supporters for some reason gave this story traction. . . "

The choice of words "some reason" show the author of the article

and of the above reply do not understand what Benton did.

See my above comment. If you don't understand it by then, you aren't paying attention.

It had traction for very specific reasons. These reasons must be resolved or they will end this movement, or at the least cripple it into ineffectualness and everything fought for over the last five years will be lost.

I've read only about 3/4s of it but wanted to get here to

the DP right away.

I don't know what to make of this yet...back to reading.
