I had hoped that Ron Paul would have finished off Guiliani once and for all, along with McCain -- but we have what we have. Thompson, who made some funny faces at RP has been put to rest for good. McCain and Romney are tearing one another apart, and, just as predicted, Huckabee, once off his turf, is wilting. Ron Paul support remains constant. Will there be other "losses"? Yes, but no one can expect the whole lobby-fed establishment which has been in power for the past century to easily give up. But they know we are the future. The young (and some not so young) and the intelligent, not the clever, are with us -- even if some have yet to know that. The opposition of the CFR, and the media-orchestrated smears, can be expected to continue. Let them. We cannot be "unconvinced". I was once a "conservative" and wrote for the Intercollegiate Review, and knew such as Feulner, now President of the Heritage Foundation, when he was young. But too much money, too much corporate feeding, too much confidence in being "right", and finally, their victory over their enemy, Communism, bound them to a past which should have been allowed to die. When the international Communists went, these national "anti-communists" were left without an enemy, with nothing but the contradiction of "Capitalistic Nationalism". And so it was, that the Nationalistic "anti-communists", as negative in definition, had emerged as a negative force, as those always "against" an enemy "other" -- even when real enemies had ceased to exist. They then had to imagine an unreal or even create a real "enemy" in order to remain as they have been defined -- a negative actor, a negative factor, an "anti-" repressive of both internal and external criticism, of the "other". Anti-Communism became Nationalistic Capitalism (Corporatism). The sad course of THE NATIONAL REVIEW is instructive -- from intelligent critic of the state of affairs to an unreflective advocate of the state of affairs.. To know when to stop "winning" is important -- and they didn't stop in time, and now have found themselves a new enemy, their "other" in the form of Ron Paul's policies -- anti-corporate, anti-militaristic, individualism. But for them, unhappily, this time the enemy is within their own nation. I know that they are sick at heart, and very dangerous for so being, for they won a war against fascism only to become fascists themselves -- be it ever so "soft". Quite Hegelian.
