"Americans Elect" Is Finished And Apparently Defunct
Submitted by pawnstorm12 on Fri, 05/18/2012 - 18:53I received an email from the online organization "Americans Elect" stating that they did not come up with an eligible nominee, so apparently the project is over and there will not be a presidential ballot in November.
Ron Paul was leading by far with just under 9,500 votes.
I hope 10,000 votes wasn't the threshold for a candidate to be nominated.
I couldn't find in their rules how many votes a candidated required to be the nominee.
Another blow in the attempt to provide voters a different option other than the 2 major corrupt political parties.

Its a bit of a shame right
Its a bit of a shame right because if Paul doesn't get the nomination he could have just said sure why not to AE because they don't have a filing deadline do they?

It only had one purpose,
and that was to try to be a monkey-wrench in the Ron Paul gears.
The promotion of it on this site was done by people I would NEVER trust.
They didn't get the guy they needed in the trap
so they gave up.

Thank goodness and FINALLY
no more posts about it on DP!
It served it's job to create division and mysteriously "ended" almost to the day of the confounding emails from our campaign.
It seems that Ron Paul wasn't
It seems that Ron Paul wasn't worthy enough to be mentioned...for abc news.
"To run in its online primary a candidate had to get 10,000 “clicks” of support (1,000 in at least 10 states). Buddy Roemer was the closest to reaching that goal, but he got less than 6,300 “supporters.”

However, at least the Washington Post mentioned his name...
"In the end, no candidate was able to clear the relatively low 10,000-vote threshold to “win” the Americans Elect nomination. The candidate who came closest was Texas Rep. Ron Paul, who boasts a decidedly ardent group of supporters but is far from the centrist problem-solver the founder of Americans Elect had in mind when they hatched the idea. (And Paul wasn’t even a “declared” candidate for the Americans Elect nomination; former Louisiana governor Buddy Roemer, who got north of 6,000 votes, did the best of that group.)"

I think it was just an attempt
to co-opt/disenchant voters that might otherwise have made a difference. It's all very suspicious.
Attract a lot of disenchanted voters then x months later tell them actually the little hope we gave you was bogus - all hope is now gone.
Did anyone else get the same email from Americans Elect?
Too bad.
"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
