I just came back from early voting in TexasSubmitted by lizmadden on Sat, 05/19/2012 - 19:32
Drove up to the polling place and there were no signs at all for any of the presidential candidates. Only local and state. I was the only voter in the building. I have voted Democrat my whole life and it felt strange when they asked me if I wanted to vote Dem or Rep.
Austin, TX is one of the only blue spots on the Texas map and I felt embarrassed saying Republican. I know I am imagining this, but I felt like they thought less of me when I said it..
Then they stamped REPUBLICAN on my voter registration card...I almost puked.
I go over to the voting machine and ask them if there will be paper ballots for the May 29 primary. They said no, same machines.
The first vote is for president. I got tears in my eyes when I voted for Ron Paul. I felt like I was doing something so very important and hoping my vote makes a difference. I felt good voting for Glen Addison and it felt good to vote against the incumbent representative who voted for NDAA, CISPA and agaist the Amash amendment.
I was disappointed Sheriff Mack was not in my district. If I lived in my old neighborhood I could have voted for him.
Now I am going to my facebook page and "like" the warmongering pig, Michael McCaul and tell him I voted for Eddie Traylor and hope he gets voted out of office.
