Ron Paul Picks up 8 out of 30 Delegates in Michigan

Dr. Paul was projected to get zero delegates in Michigan based on the primary in February, but he ended up getting 8 of the 30 voting delegates as well as a no-voting delegate and 11 alternates.

http://www.michiganstandard.com/277/saul-anuzis-is-out-ron-p...

The Michigan Republican Party prevented Ron Paul supporters from voting in county conventions if they weren't already elected precinct delegates in 2010, or he may have swept the state.

Also, establishment committeeman Saul Anuzis who got busted using dirty tricks is out, replaced by Dave Agema. Committewoman Holly Hughes also lost. Ron Paul may not have won Michigan, but what took place this weekend in Michigan was definitely a victory for Liberty. All future elections in Michigan will have to go through us...

Did you have enough Paul supporters

to take the convention outside in the parking lot like so many others have done? They violated the rules.

We did not have a majority at our caucus.

We were definitely in the minority, probably less than 20% but I do not know the actual number, and certainly not enough for any kind of quorum.
We did get at least 1/3 of the vote for our guy as permanent chair, so I know he got some votes that were not from our supporters.

At the beginning of the MI State Convention there were a

At the beginning of the State Convention there many alternates seated and the District Delegations were full.

I am glad many did not get the memo to Blackout Ron Paul at the convention. There were Ron Paul signs, a "Ron Paul" chant filled the air at one time.

When we heard what we liked we all cheered, when we found something distasteful one could here crickets.

We assemble and listen to each other. They heard us joining them on many important issues. If successful a convention can bring unity even if in a small way.

Besides, these are conservatives, things new are suspicious. Only abandon the tried and true for a better try at a higher truth.

Hey, like you they are conservatives and stubborn as hell sometimes.

The most important paragraph in the linked article...

... is this one:

"To be ready for future elections, Ron Paul supporters mobilized in a big way by registering as precinct delegates all over the state. Some estimates have over half of the registered precinct delegates in Michigan as Ron Paul supporters, something that is sure to influence future elections for years to come."

Michigan Liberty patriots, it is very important that you follow through with your commitment to be a precinct delegate. While not glamorous, having our people in these types of positions are what will pave the way for getting Liberty candidates elected in 2014, 2016, and beyond. It is much harder for the Establishment to cheat us when we are part of the Establishment.

Thank you for your dedication, minimumrage and all our Michigan Liberty patriots! Onward and upward!

A Constitutional, Christian conservative who voted for Ron and stands with Rand

Thank You!

Cheers!!!!!

It's time! Rand Paul 2016!

What's this grandfather clause on the delegates?

Did they disenfranchise precinct delegates elected in 2012? (WERE there precinct delegates chosen this year?) If so, was that part of the preexisting rules or something that they made up out of thin air for this convention? Did we challenge that rule, or move to suspend it?

2012 delegate elections

The 2012 delegate elections are not until August. The deadline to file was 5/15 and many of the people that registered to be delegates are unopposed so they will automatically become delegates in August when the elections are held.

However, the county conventions were on May 3rd so the only people that got to vote were "current" delegates, in other words people that became delegates in 2010 which was before the Ron Paul presidential campaign even began.

I believe that is the rule 5b being referenced in that article.

Becoming known at your County Party, can be good.

There are many things we agree on.

It's great I guess if we sneak in, but It wouldn't hurt to become known in some way and earn the right to represent your precinct.

There are around 2000 eligible voters in your precinct. Run an a platform to restore the Constitution. The 2012 delegation elected August 2012 will be elected to serve for the 2014 election.

I am guessing the effort to restore the Constitution is just beginning.

This guy has only been on for a week, and didn't realize that weekend, is not spelt weakened?? I wonder if this is part of some troll scheme??

You might want to...

Look yours over a bit before judging others, It would be "Spelled" and not "spelt", Spelt is a grain,Spelt:

Main Entry:1spelt
Pronunciation:*spelt
Function:noun
Etymology:Middle English, from Old English, from Late Latin spelta, of Germanic origin; perhaps akin to Middle High German spelte split piece of wood, Old High German spaltan to split — more at SPLIT
Date:before 12th century

: an ancient wheat (Triticum spelta syn. T. aestivum spelta) with spikelets containing two light red grains; also : the grain of spelt

Can't spell 'of', CoreyB? And don't you know 'a lot' is two words?

Forgive for spelling mistakes, but I have a great time with those that are trying to correct others for misspelling by misspelling themselves in the correction reply as with above post. Great! Lol.

It was a typo - God forgive me

I apologize from the deepest part of my heart that a typo made it into the post. It was late, I was tired and we had a very long WEEKEND trying to pick up delegates here in Michigan. I just wanted to share the good news with DailyPaul readers.

8 delegates out of 30 may not seem like a victory to some, but it was 8 more delegates than anybody expected us to get. We also got rid of a snake in Saul Anuzis, the Michigan Republican National Committeeman who has been doing everything in his power to disenfranchise Dr. Paul supporters.

By the way, if you read the article I linked to you'll see that the only reason we didn't pick up more delegates in Michigan is because of rule 5b which precluded anybody that wasn't already a precinct delegate in 2010 from having any role in the county conventions. But we're all registered now...

Thank you!

We will prevail because of people like yourself! I am in Maine- attended the convention where we did prevail but we really didn't know how all would pan out as we went through the process at the convention. We barely got the chair by 4 votes....and the delaying tactics were unbelieveable. It was pins and needles due to delays in vote counts and filibustering behavior at the mics. Maine also ended up in the parking lot on Sunday evening as the votes were not all in yet...yet the RP people stayed until they had the count. There was more-much more! We all could write a book from each state as to the kind of convention year this has been. My point is this---it was a hard won victory for us and we had the chair and great parliamentarians. To stand your ground against the odds in Michigan and to come away with EIGHT delegates to Florida....thank you! Proud of you from Maine..and to you hats are off! A Liberty Salute to your tireless efforts and hard won victory! God bless and God speed to Tampa! Job well done!!!!!

Nlaw

I can't began to imagine how tired you are!

Thank you so much for your hard work and I feel amazing victory despite great odds! You made amazing inroads. You all have my appreciation for a job well done!

betty

Working for liberty is a good kind of tired, without regrets.

After Convention I walked down to the Tiger game. On the way I visited
Campus Martius I saw there the 'Point of Origin' of the Michigan survey, set in a large bronze ring. The stone marker that I unearthed when expanding my driveway last fall references that marker. My stone marker was likely set there in the 1830s.

The starting survey marker I saw after the Convention was set in 1806.

One the way to the Campus Martius and passed the Free Press Building, abandoned by the newspaper, standing empty and decrepit a reminder of the state of the free press the only business protected by the Constitution.

Then off to the ballgame for an afternoon of baseball. A gift from my son.
